It's baffling why they haven't brought him back, it's not like signing him would hurt their chance at a compensatory pick, which is a stupid idea anyways. (He's going to help more than a 6th round pick next year.) I would think he's the kind of player that Rex would love to have on his defense. He recently tweeted, "Heart in one place, mind in another," right after he visited New England...he wants to be in Buffalo, but money might be available back in New England. Completely agree. He would be an instant leader in the lockerroom and a benefit to those young guys. I think he is resigned to the fact that he isn't a starter anymore. The Bills have one spot on their roster left and I'm not sure LB is the spot they want to spend it. But I'm sure if they worked something out Whaley would make room for him. If the Pats are the only team offering him a job , well he kinda has to take it. i see your point. Right fit ? we dont know the Bills want him anymore.
