Additions/Subtractions so far (3/19/15)...

Hughes we needed to re-sign.

Shady is one of the elite backs in the league.

Felton is one of the best FBs in the league.

Harvin is one of the best slot WR and returners in the league.

Clay is one of the best all around TEs in the league.

All pretty young guys as well, although you can debate how many miles Shady has accumulated.

A young team overall, unlike many of the "dream teams" that have 1-2 year windows. They have the ability to be a little patient on the franchise QB as most of the core roster will be in their primes for a while...

When you look at the talent added compared to the talent that left that contributed to the 9-7 record, barring injuries, I believe they are a better team. When you add the fact that rookie and 2nd years players should improve with experience. (For Example, Watkins, Woods, Hogan, EJ?, P. Brown, Henderson, Robey, D Williams) I think this could easily be an 11 win team. Time will tell. Go Bills

In the midst of free agency I wanted to stop and take inventory of what has happened so far this year with the Bills' roster:

Additions:

-----------

LeSean McCoy -- RB (trade)

Richie Incognito -- OG (free agent)

Matt Cassel -- QB (trade)

Charles Clay -- TE (free agent)

Subtractions:

---------------

Kiko Alonso -- LB (trade)

Da'Norris Searcy -- S (free agent)

Erik Pears -- tub 'o goo (free agent)

Scott Chandler -- TE (released)

CJ Spiller -- RB (free agent)

Chris Hairston -- OL (not signed)

Lee Smith -- TE (free agent)

Kyle Orton -- QB (retired)

Brandon Spikes -- LB (pending/free agent)

Re-signed/Extended:

-----------------------

Jerry Hughes -- DL/LB (re-signed)

Marcus Easley -- WR/ST (re-signed)

Jarius Wynn -- DE (re-signed)

Jordan Gay -- KO specialist (re-signed)

Chris Hogan -- WR/ST (re-signed)

Kyle Williams -- DT (extended)

Pretty active front office, I'd say, and almost overwhelmingly favorable. Did I miss anyone?

(Edited to list re-signed/extended as its own section)

I wonder what Ralph is thinking as he looks down on his old team ??

He's saying to himself, "Who dat?" and smiling.

He loved The Bills.

The FO has made this team really solid at most every position.

I'm also looking forward to having a healthy Sammy running wild after the catch this year.

It's a great time to be a Bills fan. You can feel it.

Don't like Pears I see B-)

theses are good additions but I'd still prefer we kept Kiko and signed Murray.

Signed Hoyer who is equivalent to Cassel and not wasted picks.

Signed Tebow over Taylor because he is clutch and Tyrod has done nothing.

I don't think Demarco would have been interested in us beyond upping his value. The Raiders tried hard and he was never too interested.

Bradford was his college roommate, he can stick it to the Cowboys twice per year and they've got Mathews to keep him fresh.

Tebow had one of the most fortuitous runs in NFL history then couldn't get on the field with the Jets or make the Pats roster. He's not the answer.

it wasn't fortuitous it was opportunity, Tebow sux even worse in practice and is one of those high pressure guys who plays great in crunch time but not so much the rest. He didn't get a wif with Rex because he didn't want him and he didn't fit with the Pats. For what we want to do he would be fine he most certainly can run the read option better than any QB we have right now.

Why wouldn't Murray wanted to be THE feature back in a running offense. He is a lot better fit here than shifty McCoy is.

We should have at least waited till free agency and then make deals if the guys we wanted didn't go through.

Should of, would of, could of...just be happy with some great moves. I am also confident we did better than if you were our GM. I am very confident in that especially when you brought up Tebow.

So, by my calculations (which are rough ones) we are close to getting a compensatory pick next year. It only includes UFAs and RFAs that contracts expired. So, for example, Harvin was cut so that doesn't count. Incognito was bagging groceries, so, that does not count. So, this is what I see...

Gains

Jerome Felton

Tyrod Taylor

Charles Clay

Losses

Da'Norris Searcy

Erik Pears

CJ Spiller

Lee Smith

As of today, we qualify for a comp pick. Someone can still sign Brandon Spikes too. Also, we may sign another player or two (not sure). Gaining comp picks is another sign of a franchise that has built their team from the ground up and is a top tier team. The top teams consistently gain comp picks because they improve from within, can't keep all the talent they have developed and other teams want their players.

You seem to prefer more high risk situations that don't offer the requisite increase in possible upside, coupled with the possibility of a lower floor as losing out on Bulaga should be a cautionary tale on assuming any certainties when openly bidding for players' services.

For a run-first, 50-carries a game offense Rex is planning, it's curious that the Bills have the same awful line as last year at this point except for Incognito, who may or may not work out. I happen to be bullish on him, but Henderson, Richardson and Kujo all sucked: they would have to improve to be mediocre. The afterthought, sneering (pay cut) extension of Urbick may end up being the most crucial signing of all, since you can't run or throw with last year's line, and otherwise all the chips are on the draft. It's natural to be leery of a crew that picked Kujo high and Richardson middle, only to be "saved" by a seventh round mediocrity.

Best case scenario: Glenn and Wood turn it around, Incognito returns to form (his good form, that is), a rookie plays great and Henderson is suddenly terrific.

Realistic scenario: Glenn and Wood are ok/good, Incognito is rusty/ok, they stick in steady Urbick after the rookies struggle and Henderson continues to suck. In sum, a line that improves from one of the worst all the way to below average.

50 carries a game, man!

I think it's unfair to say Henderson sucked. He played well at times but did, in fact, play below what we need. As far as his production for a 7tg round rookie, I'd say he did fine. Give him a year of proper nutrition and fitness and a real OL coach. I think he'll be much improved

Fair enough. He certainly has the build and evidently the desire to improve fast. I'm hoping with good coaching he'll be solid, but I'm heartened by reports that the Bills went hard after Brian Beluga. I'm just frustrated that so little has changed to two of the three worst positions on the team (G, T and QB) over the past three or even four years.

Same here. It's undoubtedly frustrating. If they can get a tackle at 50, Henderson could try his hand at G. He has experience there in college. I'll be interested to see how they shake out the OL

2015: 1 Pro Bowl guard added, 2 QBs added (one a Pro Bowler)

2014: 3 OL drafted (Cyrus, Richardson, Henderson). Two QBs brought in (Orton and for a hot second Palmer)

2013: EJ Manuel drafted in the first round, Tuel and Lewis brought in at QB.

2012: 3 OL drafted (Glenn, Sanders, Asper)

It's not fair, or remotely accurate, to lament the Bills haven't tried to address each one of those positions of need. They have, quite aggressively. You can complain about the quality of guys they brought in, that's fair, but clearly they've been trying a lot of different ways to fix those issues.

You know, this forum would work a lot better if people read more carefully before they posted. I didn't claim that the Bills haven't tried to address these positions; I said little has changed. Look at your list of personnel. The worst three positions have stayed the worst because of these choices. Drafting Glenn is the only clearly good move at this point.

The way our roster is shaping and with our coaching staff it is a good chance FAs will want to come to us, ditto for Spikes. If Crabtree does not sign with Miami he could have interest in the Bills also.

Definitely good retention signings and improvements at OG, TE and starting RB. I am not a big fan of Harvin, but he is an addition that might help. I still worry somewhat about the money being spent, but moreso about the QB position. The job's not done, but the team seems to be moving in a good direction.
