  1. Great defences do win superbowls, just a pity our brain trust saw the wisdom of trying to do it on offence last year, and what did it get us 8/8. What if we spent resources getting a stud linebacker in free agency not a running back in McCoy, another dominant stud in the secondary not Charles Clay, another dominant linesman not Percy Harvin. My opinion is that we would be no worse than 8/8, but would have had the nucleus of a championship calibre defense.
  2. Bills have claimed Center Gabe Ikard off waivers and has placed him on the practice squad. Ikard is 6-4 304 pounds and is a prototypical Greg Roman size player. To be confirmed that they have also signed S Jonathan Meeks, WR Dezmin Lewis, G Cyril Richardson, LB Kevin Reddick and RB Cierre Wood to the Practice Squad. From my viewpoint the Bill seem to have a talented practice squad. Notable missing is Enemkpali it is possible he may be picked up by another team. Nothing on QB for practice squad.
  3. Interesting takes. We brought in a OL coach with proven experience and I am reasonably confident that with Ryan's philosophy we will have a reasonably good OL that will enable our offensive plan to be executed with some precision. That offensive plan is what Ryan described as a punishing run game that sets up a quick strike passing game that stretches defences with capable receivers and good TE play. Reminds me somewhat of the 49ers when they went to the superbowl a few seasons ago and the NFC championships 2 seasons ago. All this is speculation though if we do not get vastly improved OL play.
  4. The consensus opinion is that Cassel will be our starting QB with Tyrod as our backup. It is my assertion that with QB coach in the person of Lee and Roman a proven OC it would stand to reason that EJ and Tyrod may be beneficiaries of good coaching and after a spirited competition If Cassel wins it could mean that he may have captured some of those skills he displayed with the Patriots and KC....... If EJ wins it could mean that the combination of his time sitting behind Orton and the pre-season may have improved his skills.... if Tyrod wins it may be evident to the coaching staff that he possesses raw talent that could produce good QB play for the Bills. I look forward to a good QB competition. May the QB that presents the best skill set for the team talent win
  5. No question if there is the chance that the Bills could pull off a trade and get RG3 for Manuel I would take that trade in a heartbeat.
  6. The way our roster is shaping and with our coaching staff it is a good chance FAs will want to come to us, ditto for Spikes. If Crabtree does not sign with Miami he could have interest in the Bills also.
  7. Thanks for the input guys, just throwing thoughts out there, a free flow of ideas and reasoned discussion is good.
  8. True, but Matt Shaub would not be just an ordinary 3rd string QB he has done well in the past, maybe with the right motivation and coaching he could regain some of his lost form.
  9. I am sure he would be an upgrade over Tuel. Bring him in and give it a try, nothing tried nothing gained. My philosophy is that motivation and the right fit can do great things for performance. Possibly there is that virtuoso of coaching skill in the Bills coaching staff that can re-ignite the talent Shaub one showed.
  10. Matt Shaub released. If I were the Bills brain trust I would release Tuel and bring in Shaub for a three way battle for the Bille QB. Tuel vs Shaub, I am sure Shaub would win that battle anyday. It is possible he could beat out EJ for our 3rd or 2nd string QB.
  11. Takling about a Sam Bradford trade is futile. What is more realistic is to release Jeff Tuel and bring in Matt Shaub. There is the glimmer of chance that Roman could get something out of him. Tuel vs Shaub, I am sure Shaub would win that battle anyday.
  12. Don't count them out yet, with Brady and Bellichick they are still a force to be reckoned with. Talent in the division has gotten better. If the bills are able to upgrade offense play we stand a shot to topple them.
  13. Ditch the Lesean McCoy trade and Keep Alonso as trade bait during the draft to move up and possibly get Mariota of Sam Bradford. Here is my possible scenario. The draft prognosticators are predicting that Marcus Mariota may fall to a far as number 10 in the Draft. St Louis is at # 10 and Minnesota is at # 11. We could we ditch the Alonso trade and keep Alonso for a trade with St. Louis or Minnesota. My thought is that in the draft if St. Louis picks up Mariota we could use Alonso as trade bait with Minnesota and do a player trade for Bradford using Alonzo. If things go crazy and St. Louis does not pick up Mariota and instead decide to keep Bradford we could do a trade with Minnesota using our 7th and possibly a 4th in next year draft along with Alonzo to move up into Minnesota 11th spot during the draft and pick up Mariota . We would get value for value as taking Sam Bradford in my scenario is much better than trading Alonso for Lesean McCoy. Running backs are a dime a dozen and if our scouts are doing their jobs they can find an adequate RB in the draft or as a unsigned free agent after the draft. I am totally against giving away Alonzo if a top QB is not in the mix.
  14. I suppose it is a good sign. But I am wondering that the draft forecasters are predicting that Marcus Mariota may fall to a far as number 10, St Louis is at # 10 and Minnesota is at # 11 could we ditch Alonso trade and keep Alonso for a trade with St. Louis. My thought is that in the draft if St. Louis picks up Mariota we could trade Alonso during the draft for Sam Bradford. If St. Louis does not pick up Mariota then we could also use Alonso for a trade with St. Louis and try to move up in the draft to their tenth spot during the draft and pick up Mariota. We would get value for value as taking Sam Bradford in my scenario is much better than trading Alonso for Lesean McCoy. Running backs are a dime a dozen and if our scouts are doing their jobs they can find an adequate RB in the draft or as a unsigned free agent after the draft.
