Whaley won the power struggle with Marrone, Marrone opted out, bill no longer had a way to bring in Chris as GM with Whaley still on board. Thus, not worth his time. Could have been Chris was willing to cede control over the 53, unlike Whaley. its not impossible that BPs goal was to work with chris and doug but give chris the heavy lifting, day to day operations in the front office.
