One big difference: Tampa does not control their own destiny.

Nor do we. If the Chargers win their next 3 and then lose to KC who win out we can't get ahead of either of them. We almost control our destiny... but not quite.

I'm really hoping Geno and the Jets play for pride tomorrow.

The siuation with Baltimore also depends on where they stack in the division. Also it's important to note that if Baltimore wins out and we win out, Miami and Cleveland are out of the playoffs. San Diego and KC seem unlikely to get to 11-5 at this point also. I'd assume that winning out means we're in somehow. That's still asking a lot.

I'm playing tannehill as my fantasy QB tonight, I'd rather lose and have Miami lose with them.

There are also scenarios where we win out, but 2 AFC North teams (other than CLE) as well as either SD or KC also end with 11 wins. In those cases we also miss the playoffs.

You guys kill me with these "win out" scenarios. :)

If the Bills end up at 11-5 I will be betting on them pretty heavy to win the SB :)

Honestly, if the Bills get to 10-6 with their remaining schedule and make the playoffs, they will have proven themselves SB contenders. GB, NE and Denver are the top 3 teams in the league, in some order.

10-6 is the easiest way to get into the playoffs for the Bills. However that is giving Miami, Cleveland, Cincinatti, Baltimore, Pittsburgh, San Diego, and Kansas City obvious wins.

We have been shown 3 times in the last 2 weeks, that those teams may not even get those obvious wins.

Best Case - we win 3 out of the next 4 and go to the playoffs 10-6.

Worst Case - we win 2 out of the next 4 and depend on the above teams to lose a few more than they "should"

My quick scenario

By beating the Browns, the Bills are now ahead of the Ravens, Steelers, and Browns for the tiebreaker. None of the teams with which we'll be competing for a spot with have easy schedules either. Let's look at the 5th seed Chargers right now. Does anyone think they'll actually catch Denver for that division title? They do get New England and Denver at home next two weeks, but then have to go on the road to San Francisco and Kansas City. The Chiefs go to Arizona, get the lowly raiders but then got to Pittsburgh before finishing at home versus San Diego. So no matter what here, ONE of the two teams directly above us loses in week 17. Don't think a tie is likely. With Cincy taking the North right now, they get versus Pittsburgh, @ Cleveland, versus Denver and @ Pittsburgh. Pittsburgh's schedule not much easier @ Cincy, @ ATL, Kansas City, and Cincy to finish. I think that given all the teams that have to play each other that are all vying for a playoff spot that if they can get to 10-6, they're a virtual lock to be in the playoffs. Outside of Denver and New England, I don't see any team that I would want to put money on to run the table. In fact, I think most of our direct competitors can't do better than split.

@BuffRumblings

Also, #Bills can theoretically still get to the one seed: http://espn.go.com/n...layoffs/machine

only if EVERY other team in front of them tanks every week!!!

neither do the Bills.

KC and SD are in front of them and have the H2H tie breaker advantage

They can't. Teams ahead of them play each other. Someone has to win and lose each week. Impossible for all teams to tank just as it's impossible for all teams to win out.

Take a look at the Raven's remaining schedule. I agree with you to an extent but I can see the Ravens completely winning out.

Fact of the matter is, if this team wins 2 games, they could make it- unlikely, however. 3 wins gives this team the best chance possible.

yeah, that was my point. BUT if enough teams tank it is possible. Improbable but yes still possible.

again. starting with ranked by defense with a JETS win tonight week 13, and a Buff win over Denver week 15 the Bills could have the # 2 seed.

Week 15 have Denver lose to SD and the Bills are the #1 seed.

and once again in this scenario - the Purtids MISS the playoffs altogether

I'm actually ambivalent to the Bills making the playoffs. I'm not sure I'd want to see a first-round exit of the Bills any more than they not make it, and there's a certain tranquility in the comfort of familiarity.

But any scenario that results in Tom Brady throwing a schoolgirl hissy fit is okay by me.

I agree with GB, NE and Denver all being top teams and if the Bills win 2 of those 3 they will emerge as the 'sleeper' pick for a SB team. Even more so if Bills can beat Denver and NE.

Manning did not look great last night and it appears Denver is trying not to put it all on him.

Lets hope the D rises up and Orton proves Elway screwed up by letting him go!
