The Dean
http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2014/10/05/nfl-believes-its-12-24-months-away-from-a-return-to-l-a/ We've certainly heard this before. But just because it wasn't true in the past doesn't necessarily mean it won't be true this time. Still, I believe it when it actually happens. But that's not why I started this thread. I'm more interested in this: Per a league source, the current plan is that the NFL will send one or two teams back to Los Angeles within the next 12 to 24 months. What the hell does that mean? I know the NFL is very powerful, and has the ability to influence decisions, but can they "send one or two teams" anywhere? Since when does the NFL decide where franchises will play? Mr. WEO
They can make them play in that non-existent stadium.

KD in CA
I'm pretty convinced St. Louis will be going to LA. Raiders could go too.

Max997
Oakland is the clear choice and should have never left, St Louis is another and maybe San Diego. It would be stupid to have two teams there when they will have trouble even supporting one. Edited October 6, 2014 by Max997

Kelly the Dog
It's not going to happen until they have a viable stadium plan and right now they do not have a viable stadium plan. The NFL does this every once in awhile IMO to keep the idea alive so they can use LA against cities to make new stadiums. There really isn't much thirst here for an NFL team. There is exactly no thirst here for one. The NFL or new owner or both will have to foot the bill for a stadium. It won't be public money, that's pretty much a guarantee. If it happens, it would probably be the Rams and Chargers. Edited October 6, 2014 by purple haze

The NFL does this every once in awhile IMO to keep the idea alive so they can use LA against cities to make new stadiums. There really isn't much thirst here for an NFL team. Exactly. I really don't think LA is craving an NFL team. And the league is thriving without a team there. Ratings are great without a team in the #2 tv market. This process can, and probably will happen, organically. If they had a stadium ready, they would probably get the Raiders or Chargers eventually. Maybe build a new stadium for the Chargers a but further north. I mean, look at the distance fans from San Francisco have to travel to attend a 49er game. And I agree this is an NFL ploy to ratchet up the pressure in some NFL cities. But can it even be a legitimate threat anymore? I can't believe anyone with any sense believed the Bills were ever in real danger to move there. It's kind of becoming a joke, no?

Nick the Greek
It is nice that the Bills name is out of the mix. However, no fan should suffer the pain of having their team moved.

boyst
I tell ya what. It'd be easy to imagine them moving the Panthers. The fan base is not that strong. Its the corporations that keep them here.
