Need at WR

Recommended Posts

Chan said in his presser that there are some good guys out there. This might be insane, but what about Terrell Owens? He did fine in his time here and didn't really cause any trouble. He'd at least command some attention from opposing defenses which could free up stevie and nelson (as well as provide some depth). As long as the guy could stay in line, I think it's worth a look. Plus it looks like he is hard up for the money anyways.......... a win-win for both sides?

Missed yesterday's TO thread? Long story short, no.

I must have, sorry. This wasn't necessarily meant to be a TO thread, it was just one suggestion. I really wanted to see who was out there that you guys thought might be a possiblilty. I figured TO was probably a bad idea, but like I said, at the right price it could be intriguing.

They may not add anyone. It's possible that they decide Naaman is a better WR than Martin, so they bring him up from the PS. They signed Marton because he can back-up all four WR positions and is good on ST. But if he is going to be needed to play WR, they may decide to sacrifice the ST for the better WR production from Naaman, who can also play inside and out.

We have Brad Smith, plus CJ and Fred who can all play in the slot for a few games. It all depends on how many games they think Roscoe will miss, and they will have a better idea at the end of this week after he gets more tests. I don't think they would go outside to sign a WR at this point but they may.

Very good points. I keep forgetting about Brad Smith playing some wideout, and why not put CJ in the slot. His speed is probably as on par with roscoe more than anyone else on the team.

Brad Smith can play Roscoe's position....I am still mad at Brad for not throwing to two wide open receivers...That was 6 points...

Nope. There was a safety right there. They were not wide open, and he did the smart thing not throwing. Wilcox was just flat wrong because you couldnt see him on the one replay. You can see it clearly that there was a guy there if you watch the safety. He actually got there before the two Bills did.

haha, i think it was one of those situations where 2WR were wide open literally right next to e/o and appeared too good to be true and Smith didn't pull the trigger out of disbelief.

I wouldn't hate TO either. We're down in WRs right now. Don't tell me Roosevelt is a better option (Aiken may be). Spread em 5 wide, Johnson, Nelson, Jones, Spiller and TO. I'd be all for it. He'd be a small part of possibly something big.

This is mere speculation on my part but the packers James Jones was unhappy after week 1:

"I understand we've got a lot of weapons, so I'm not saying I want the ball every play," Jones said. "But I think I deserve to be on the field more than I was." Jones said he was on the field for approximately 19 of the Packers' 73 offensive snaps Thursday. "Something like that," Jones said. "Not too good. Not too good. And I want to say half of them were `jumbo' run plays. I'm here, I practice hard, work hard, do what I've got to do and hopefully the opportunities come my way."

Jones considers himself a potential No. 1 receiver, but apparently didn't get the right offer in the offseason. Jones tested the free agent market after the lockout ended but re-signed with the Packers after other teams looking for receiver help turned elsewhere.

And while he might have complaints about the number of snaps he played, Jones says he isn't unhappy with Rodgers.

"I don't bother Aaron," Jones said. "Aaron throws to the open guy. He's been good throwing to the open guy. Aaron doesn't tell me to sub into the game. So if I'm not in the game, he can't throw it to me on the sideline.

I think this guy has the talent and can run all the routes. IMO the packers 5th WR has the skill set to be a legitimate #1-2 option. Character questions aside, if he was available for a 5th round pick I'd make the trade.

All of these options sound better than using Ruvell Martin. What a waste of space! Buster Davis???

And yes, there was help over the top on the Brad Smith trickery. Solomon Wilcox didn't see it on his telepromter.

I'd be fine with TO if he checked his ego at the door (which, I feel he would do at this point). But it's not happening.

I think Brad Smith and CJ should be used more, Nelson can pick up a lot too. I think we are "ok" other than depth at the moment. Martin seems to have stone hands, I'm not sure why he's being used over Smith/Spiller in certain situations...

I would like them to get Spiller touches as a WR. I always saw him as a percy Harvin type more than a true RB. I think he would be better in the slot than as a RB.

I am also surprised that Smith hasnt gotten more action at WR. For 4 mil a year, I was expecting him in the slot more than as a wildcat QB.

I dont see us adding anyone whose name you know at this point in the season.

+100. My thoughts exactly.

<br />IMO, we had numbers not depth. .  Ruvell Martin and Craig "Bust-er" Davis.  <img src='http://forums.twobillsdrive.com/public/style_emoticons/default/wallbash.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':wallbash:' /><br />
well, we had Johnson, Evans, Parrish, Nelson, Jones, Smith, Rooselvelt and Easley. 8 wrs that I think can be productive. I consider that deep. If we had 5 guys like Ruvell Martin mixed in there, we'd have numbers. He's the only one thats strictly on the team due too his ST play
