  1. “Non difference makers” Team was one of the best pass rushing teams in the league. He was our best edge pass rusher and only plays 60% of the snaps. He’s 23 years old. He’s our best edge pass rusher and he’s an even better run defender. Youre letting that guy walk. The 2nd most important position in the NFL you’re trading for a 3rd round comp pick. He’s literally our best edge player. Have fun replacing him. Edmunds was an easily replaceable position. Plus he was a below average player. There’s no comparison.
  2. Was this attributed to me? Or the OP? If I could go back and dig up some of my old posts, I was in favor of extending Oliver, always had been, because he had shown an ability to take over games, he just didn’t do it consistently enough. I still remember Dallas on Thanksgiving and a Jets game where he was a one man wrecking ball, single-handedly disrupted drives. I told people years ago if it came down to Edmunds or Oliver I’m picking Oliver 10/10 even if he plays a fraction of the defensive snaps. And if Rousseau blows up, great! He’d be worth the investment, but I’m not extending his current production at a high ticket. He has yet shown that he can take over games like Oliver had shown.
  3. He’ll get the 5th year option, no doubt. But going forward, unless he taps into a consistent ability to disrupt the QB, he walks if his camp believes he should be paid like a great edge defender. $13M/yr would be my value on what he currently brings. $15M/yr if his sacks per season stay relatively the same (5-8) but his amount of pressures greatly increase. He just doesn’t affect the QB often enough - currently - to get into big money discussions. I’ve said he’s a much better run defender than pass rusher. How do I watch him and not think he’s worth $20M/yr? Same way I watched Edmunds for 5 years and didn’t think he should’ve been paid a dime more than Milano at $11-$13M/yr. You let those non-difference makers walk if the price tag gets high, you DONT extend that production with a hefty contract.
  4. You also don’t get better paying average to above average players $20M/yr. It’s the same reason why I said Edmunds had to walk and had Beane re-signed him I would’ve lost faith in him as a GM. Rousseau isn’t one of the best edge defenders in the league. Well, against the run, sure, but not against the pass and that’s what brings the money. He’s a capable starter at this point, nothing more, nothing less.
  5. So you only want great players, rookies, or aging vets? No good players or middle players? You also have to account for position. Edmunds played a position easily replaced. You can’t just replace Rousseau. Like I said his pressure rates are better than his sack rates. The sacks will probably come, but even if he averages 6-8 sacks every year he’s worth the contract because he does everything. You need both Floyd and Rousseau. No, Epenesa is no where near Rousseau as a player.
  6. I’d treat this exactly like Edmunds. Pick up the option but I’m not extending. He’s a great run defender but is a subpar pass rusher. I wouldn’t want to pay big money for that
  7. What's the concern? Dude is playing exactly how you'd expect a #30 1st round pick to play. Yes, you pick up the option, and extend him. No brainer. This is nothing like Edmunds.
  8. I liked Greg a lot coming out of college. Great physical traits with a lot of room to grow or low floor/high ceiling has been the Beane MO and I think it’s the right one. Josh, Edmunds, Rousseau, Elam have all fit that mold and when those players do hit, the benefit is that they are supposed to hit big. But obviously we have been hit or miss in that first round. And perhaps even more bothersome, they have not hit “big” except for Josh. Edmunds is an NFL player but he wasn’t the defensive All-Pro they thought he was going to be. And Rousseau seems to be going that same road. I have this debate all the time on here about players “who can be 8-10 sack guys.” 8-10 sack guys are INCREDIBLY rare. It’s not very common for 6 sack guys to just become double digit sack guys because they play more or anything else. And Greg is that perfect example. He played 3 more games than last season and had 3 less sacks. He played more defensive snaps than he ever has in his career and a higher percentage of snaps. And his year was just… alright. But anyway, besides that, we are running into the Edmunds problem where the fifth year option decision is coming. I would assume Greg is going to play on it, but based on his production, are we sure he is going to get an extension? Or is he going to be an Edmunds, where we let a solid player get overpaid by a bum franchise because the juice isn’t worth the squeeze?
  9. He reportedly runs a 4.38: https://www.stadiumrant.com/post/the-best-is-yet-to-come-for-adonai-mitchell If he really runs a 4.38 at 6'4" with the things he did at Texas - that's going to be make him a very attractive prospect. Especially if he tests well elsewhere. Beane is big on tools and traits. More on that below... I think you can still get an explosive playmaker with speed without giving up size. You have to keep in mind Beane's MO when drafting in the 1st Round. He always goes for players with a combination of athletic ability and prototypical size for whatever hole he's filling. He'll take a guy who is viewed as more of a developmental project (like Allen, Edmunds, Rousseau, Elam) who has impressive physical traits and tools that he sees translating at the next level with coaching up over some sick College highlights 6 days a week and twice on Sunday's. If we're spending a 1st Round Pick on a WR - they're going to want a playmaker, but also one that has prototypical size for an Outside guy. And even more importantly, they're specifically looking for a guy who will always be on the Outside opposite Diggs. Worthy is a guy who is weighs 170 lbs., isn't short but isn't particularly tall either, and only played 60% of his snaps on the Outside last season. He may be a playmaker, but he doesn't check any other box. And Beane prefers to check them all in early round picks who will be starters. This is why I'm looking at Brian Thomas Jr, Troy Franklin, Keon Coleman, Adonai Mitchell, and Xavier Legette as more likely. They check way more boxes. Maybe he surprises me and takes Worthy. But knowing what Beane is looking for and how he generally operates, I just don't see it.
  10. Yep, I agree. The Chiefs with the #2 defense overall beat the Ravens who had the #1 in points allowed, and #6 in yards allowed in Baltimore by 10-17. What happened to that MVP in this game? KC beat Miami who had the #2 in points, and #3 in yards offense in the WC round 7-26. KC beat the Buffalo Bills in Buffalo 24-27 by a missed FG Devastated by injuries is the proper term as that Buffalo team went into a gunfight with the Chiefs and ran out of bullets. What McD did with this defense this season was amazing to get by with so many on crutches. And that 13-second guy is gone! That Buffalo defense this season played so aggressively well at times this season despite losing their all-pro CB, LBer. Look how well Edmunds's replacement played and ... Bills head coach Sean McDermott has RULED OUT WR Gabe Davis (knee), CB Christian Benford (knee), LB Baylon Spector (back) and S Taylor Rapp (calf) for Sunday's AFC Divisional game against the Chiefs. The other players on the team's injury report, including LB Terrel Bernard, CB Taron Johnson, CB Rasul Douglas and P Sam Martin will either practice today or will be held out of practice and be game time decisions. Bernard hasn't been able to practice Wednesday or Thursday, but he "has a chance at this point" to play, according to McDermott. The Bills are set to practice Friday afternoon with the full injury report to be updated after that. Post-practice update at 3:30 p.m. Bernard, Johnson, Douglas and Martin are all listed as QUESTIONABLE
  11. Josh is a player. How about blaming players on defense that disappear in the playoffs, especially vs KC. Ed Oliver, Matt Milano, Poyer, Hyde, Edmunds…
  12. Only reason I thumbs downed this is I think Brown is a Bills lifer....if Big Baller is on his game he will get an extension sooner rather than later. Remember Big Baller is ALL IN on this guy....ALL. IN. I say an extension is coming soon. Pay him early and gain the rewards. Brown hopefully likes it here.....certainly he likes JA17......how many teams have a JA17 to like??? Not the one who can afford to throw massive cash at him that's for sure. Let's just have Big Baller bring up Edmunds during the the $$$ talk. Would you like to be Edmunds on HIS team now?? Big Bucks and a team that SUCKS????? Kinda doubt it....we shall see
  13. 1. You will all eventually rue the Edmunds trade. 2. You all already rue the day they assigned me a Two Bills Drive account. * 😁
  14. I think the Bears need someone to keep blockers off of Edmunds, and they have some space. Git 'er done Buddy!
  15. Agree....it's just so inconsistent. We make the right call not extending Davis & Edmunds but get a little prematurely excited for Bass & Knox. Let the contract play all the way out, then make your decision.
  16. Exactly. The next closest in my life time (I'm 74), was the Bills trading Daryl Lamonica and a WR to the Oakland Raiders for QB Tom Flores and another player in the 1960s. Lamonica took the Raiders to AFC championships and the Super Bowl. Flores and the other player were duds in Buffalo. You very conveniently cherry pick facts to fit your argument by mentioning some Bills mediocre draft picks while ignoring the better ones. The Bills drafted Tre White with KC's 2017 pick. White was an All-Pro CB before his injuries. They also drafted Matt Milano in 2017 who became an All Pro LB for the Bills as well as 3 time Pro Bowl LT Dion Dawkins. Suddenly, the Bills 2017 draft looks pretty good: 2 All Pros and a Pro Bowl LT. In 2018, in addition to Allen, the Bills drafted LB Tremaine Edmunds as well as DB Taron Johnson was 2nd Team CB in 2023. You also conveniently ignore that the Bills traded for Stephon Diggs in 2020. It's very interesting that you ignore the impact of KC's DC Spagnulo and All-Pro defensive players Chris Jones and Trent McDuffie on the Chiefs' back-to-back Super Bowl championships, but tout Tyreek Hill, who wasn't part of the 2022 and 2023 Super Bowl teams. Crafty propagandizing or simple ignorance?
  17. https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/chiefs-bills-trade-that-landed-kansas-city-patrick-mahomes-paid-major-dividends-for-both-teams/ Tre'Davious White (CB), Tremaine Edmunds (LB), Dion Dawkins (T), Zay Jones (WR), Siran Neal (CB) for Patrick Mahomes Removing the hindsight goggles, I think I vote “yes” on this trade. I’m no NFL scout, but I remember watching the highlight film of Mahomes. My takeaway was “that freelancing magic doesn’t translate, but oh, what fun.”
  18. The Bills traded pick #10 to the Chiefs who selected Mahomes. If they didn’t do that, there’s no guarantee that Mahomes is a Chief today. It’s great that we got Tre, Dawkins, Zay Jones (lol), Edmunds (lol) and Neal (lol). When does the parade start?
  19. Unless you are convinced that the Bills were taking Mahomes at 27 (and that he would still be there), then the Bills didn't "give" the Chiefs Mahomes. They traded the pick and ended up with Tre White, (ultimately) Edmunds, Dawkins, Zay Jones and Neal.
  20. Warner was the 70th pick overall in the 3rd round. I think Edmunds was the 16th overall pick in the first round.
  21. To think we could have had Warner instead of Edmunds....
  22. Couldn’t agree more E-Man. The Jets will always be the Jests until they have new owners. Some owners just Don’t know how to get out of their own way. Jerrah is another. For Wilson’s sake, I love the idea of him becoming the backup for the Giants, and with the way their QB plays and gets hurt, I’d love for Wilson to come in and win three straight. If anyone can get a lot out of him, Dabbs can do it. I know they had a crappy year, but their fundamental flaw is Daboll forgot what McBeane did. They made the playoffs by accident in 2017, but purged old talent and bloated contracts to remake the Bill team. 6-10 as everyone knows taking their lumps drafting Allen and Edmunds, turned into 10-6, and that’s only because they had nothing to play of in the last game with the Jets. If we played the starters we would’ve been 11-5. That was a mistake as they lost their rhythm and it showed in that loss to the Texans. You guys know the rest in 13-3, 11-6, 13-3, and 11-6. Daboll needs to follow the playbook, purge bad contracts, buy a line like the Bills did and keep working the problem until they have a solid O Line. They also need a QB. Jones is t going to get it done.
  23. I think considering we generally keep 5 DT's and we currently have only 1 on the Roster, 1 DT is kind of light. At the very least, we'd take 2 DT's and 1 DE in your scenario - considering between Groot, Von, and Kingsley we only need 2 DE's versus 4 DT's. I also don't see us keeping all 10 picks either (we have 9 now, but we'll have 10 after the Edmunds compensatory). Beane will use picks to move up at least once or twice to secure the talent he covets at the positions we're in need.
