  1. I always felt that this was one of Beane's most important and unheralded moves. Day 1 (or damn close to it) the guy comes in and lines the scouting staff up against the wall. I think about the performance and track record of some of those prior draft classes and "Yeesh" is all that comes to mind. Best of luck to Boyd - he's been part of a notably successful effort.
  2. Thanks for the video. I jumped to the "givin' him the business" line, but then settled in to watch the whole thing. Two observations: 1) Wow. Fans in stands. Brings back memories. 2) Not meaning to sound snarky, but it's weird to ever think of the Jets as being a good team.
  3. If this is reality, Frank Reich returns to Buffalo. Might be chilly.
  4. I just don't see the Pats* coming back from two scores down. If the Bills can get a quick jump, this game could be over in the first quarter.
  5. I'm not going to invest too much emotional energy into "rooting interests", because I know that my vibe affects the outcome not-one-bit-in-the-slightest. BUT... When it comes to playoff seeding, I simply hope the Bills host a warm weather team. It's been a mild autumn thus far in Upstate New York, but that schitt's over now. Welcome to the Great White North.
  6. Wow. Bills-Broncos is THE hot ticket for the national broadcast games. Not to take away from the game at all...but there are some stinkers on that list.
  7. I'm thinking this. I'm trying not to be a thin-skinned homer, but I've been doing some odd jobs and clean-up before settling in, and have had the TV on mute. Keep popping in and...what the "F", dude? There's a team wearing white and blue out there tonight.
  8. Good call. That was the "Bertuzzi Incident". That ended up essentially costing the player a career, $500,000 in lost earnings and criminal charges in British Columbia.
  9. But did they sit down and have dinner with her the night before?
  10. While I appreciate the sentiment, threads like these make me roll my eyes and revel in my bald spot. That's a self-deprecating ageist dig. I'm not as old as SOME posters on this board, but old enough to remember and unstoppable OJ, as well as the Dolphins treating the Bills like a ball of string some 40-50 years ago. I've learned never to woof. The moment you woof as a Bills fan, some douche will hold up 4 fingers, or give you the crack "What does 'Bills' stand for? Boy-I-Love-Losing-Superbowls". When they're hoisting the trophy, we can exhale. Enjoy the moment. Enjoy it. We'll all be back down to earth in the next few weeks with the first loss, and this board will self-immolate. It always does. I just have to hope the first loss isn't a divisional, or even a conference loss. The difference this year - even over the Super Bowl teams - is that this offense hasn't been figured out yet. Kelly and the K-Gun were amazing, but the No Huddle often ended up with the Bills getting themselves gassed after multiple 3-and-outs. This group? So far this year, they haven't shown any quit. At the end of the game, I'm not so much worried about the opposing defense. I'm worried about the clock. Because this group looks like they can score on anyone. So I'm enjoying it, quietly. Go Bills.
  11. Oh, no. It's a lot easier to just roll grenades out there than it is to clean up the mess.
  12. I remember staying at this place about 20 years ago. Came back after a fun night to a note saying "Dear Guests. Please note that the QE2 will be docking outside the hotel this evening, so you might want to keep your window shades drawn for privacy." Sure enough, I awoke to windows outside my window the next morning. I kept the note card; it's kicking around someplace.
  13. Probably, given that it's from 2014. I'm surprised that the Giants footprint extends so far up into the North Country. I don't see a lot of license plate rims and other Giants memorabilia up here. Definitely a lot of Giants fans in the Mohawk Valley.
  14. Hard Pass. F No. My best childhood friend is getting a trach tube today having fought for his life on a vent for two weeks. Only a true and utter idiot would take this thing lightly, or consider it a "simple flu". Good luck with that. I'll send flowers. Maybe dead ones. And there's not going to be a vaccine this year anyway, so it doesn't matter. Now, as for televising games without a crowd, they'll essentially be like the first week of college bowl games in December, when Northeast Central Missouri A&T plays Mount St. Mary's Sisters of the Blind. The game looks good until they pan away, or get a field level shot. And then you realize there are 4 people at the 50 yard line, and three of them are the coach's siblings. But with clever camera work, you don't even know.
  15. You and I have PM'd in the past. I trust your opinion on matters related to commercial air travel. Thanks.
  16. If it's a Bears-scale renovation, it'll be interesting to see where the Bills would play. The Bears had to play at the University of Illinois stadium for at least one season. Was it two? I can't remember, and can't find it anywhere. But I remember it taking FOREVER.
  17. I'm simply going to enjoy watching the games, and not investing myself in them emotionally at all.
  18. Good question. The answer? George Seifert. And that all works for awhile until it doesn't. Speaking of Seifert, you raised a good point about people under 30 not even knowing what the NFL would be like without the Pats* being on top of the division, and essentially the league. I remember rooting against the 49ers after awhile back in the 1980s because...like ENOUGH, ALREADY. But even that was NOTHING compared to what the Pats* have done - through talent, great coaching, abject outright cheating and a LOT of really rancid calls by a LOT of officials. I cannot WAIT for it to crumble, and it's exactly because of that vapid, self-entitled moronic fan base. They have NO idea how hard it is to get all the components lined up. And said components are about to become misaligned.
  19. I've thought about this, but rejected it when the Giants fired Shurmer and kept Gettleman. I'm probably wrong on this, but doesn't Belichick have the GM responsibility as well as the coaching end of things? If so, there's simply no way that he goes to the Giants as "Coach". Uh uh. Now...if Gettleman were suddenly dismissed this week? Buckle up.
  20. Activity? Depends on the weather. It's supposed to be on-and-off snow showers up here. I have a huge maple that I had dropped a couple of months ago, and I'm slowly reducing it to usable lengths. So I'll want to get the chain saw work out of the way before I get into the alcohol. Kids, don't try this at home. Menu? Despite the weather, I can barbecue outside under the porch roof (and I'm a charcoal guy - the hell with propane). It's beef ribs and grilled asparagus. Why? Because I'm alone, and I can. Alcohol? Probably a really nice bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon, but I might go off the rails and get the best damn bottle of Zinfandel that I can lay my hands on. The poor thing isn't going to know what hit it. And, like so many on this board...I'm going to pace, pace, pace, pace...
  21. If you REALLY want to start the week with a smile, think of the Bills beating the Texans, and the Pats* losing to the Titans next week. And then imagine the Pats* fan board thread by about 11:30 Saturday night.
  22. I hear they're going to play "Spin the Bottle".
  23. Agree with much of what's been said here, but definitely with your Point 1. I'm finished with Frank Gore. I know that causes great umbrage to the purists. But he's done, he's toast. The only time I want to see him out there is as a decoy, and then have him stay in to pick up the blitz, which he does really well. Stick to your strengths - keep Allen on his feet, Frank. And watch for heavy - almost EXTREME - efforts on the part of the Pats* to strip the ball from Singletary. Singletary has a fumble problem, the league is starting to understand it, and there's no other team that would focus on simply getting inside an opponent's head and giving him the mind f**k like the Pats*. Singletary HAS to hold on to the ball. I could see this one factor being the entire key to the game. Singletary succeeds? Bills walk off the field blowing kisses to the (remaining front-runner) fans and pointing at the scoreboard. Singletary starts fumbling and doubting himself? Long flight back to Buffalo.
  24. So...this pretty much describes the NFC East this year!
  25. I'm surprised Nsheke is even in the discussion in that article. That looked like a pretty bad injury. Good to see that he might come back.
