  1. I believe most teams assign someone to count the number of players on the field, which I figured the Bills did since there's frequently players running on the field as the ball is about to be snapped. Maybe he asked for Christmas off and Rex didn't know.
  2. Gillmore's tackling makes Deion Sanders look like Antoine Winfield.
  3. I wonder how many Bills fans threw something at their TV and broke the screen watching this game. I had to have restraint after the Bush reverse. The Carpenter miss following was kind of anticlamactic because of his prior miss. I didn't expect him to make it. Then the long Ajayi run. Oye! I think Rex's son recruited classmates to vote to keep his dad. This vote makes no sense.
  4. So, you want to promote a guy who you admit was inexperienced in his current job.
  5. Regarding Carpenter, there will be no acceptable excuse for NOT at least bringing in an experienced kicker to compete for the job and/or drafting one. At this point I'm all for cutting Carp.
  6. Yes, that was the reasoning behind Schwartz hiring as DC. He had a reputation of being good vs run and 3rd down and the results that year backed it up.
  7. Based on his 2nd & 3rd down play calls on that 1st OT possession, I don't know if he should be the offensive coordinator. They were at the Miami 19 and that stupid call of the Reggie Bush run lost 8 yards and put them at 3rd and 20 on the 27. On 3rd down, Trent Green was saying they should run a draw to get a few yards for a shorter FG attempt and Tyrod throws it out of the back of the end zone. I guess I can't put full blame on Lynn because we don't know what the options were on the play. Was there nobody open for a shorter throw, even if they didn't get a 1st down? With his only run today losing 8 yards, Bush has a season total of -3 yards on 12 carries. Why was he even put in the game when he hadn't had the ball once before then? The head coaches and offensive coordinators change and we still have them trying to be cute with a risky play at a crucial time that backfires. Since the Bills fell behind by 14 early and a couple more times later, I wouldn't think of this loss as such a lost opportunity and it wouldn't bother me so much, but to lose like this from a stupid decision (shall we also say goodbye to Mr Carpenter?) almost ruined my Christmas Eve. Yes, the offense set a new team record for yards but it means little when they blew a great opportunity to win the game.
  8. It's to the point that maybe the Bills should let him go to a contender so he can experience the playoffs before he retires, as long as it's not New England.
  9. The Bills organizational structure has both the GM and head coach reporting to the owners. The GM gets the players while the head coach coaches with those players. If this structure is maintained, firing the GM has no connection to the coach. It is likely that Whaley had input in the hire of Rex but the decision was ultimately with the Pegulas. It would be the same if Rex were fired and a new head coach chosen. Now, if Whaley were fired, I don't know how receptive any prospective GM hires would be to this structure.
  10. The article also mentions the Raiders have 66% of their own draft picks and ended their long playoff drought. While it is true that draft picks Khalil Mack, Derek Carr and Amari Cooper are part of their core, they were the only draftees among their 7 players selected for the Pro Bowl. The other 4 are all free agents signed in the last couple of years. In addition WR Michael Crabtree and LB Bruce Irvin were recent free agent signings who have been major contributors to this season. So, a good GM builds a team thru the use of the draft, free agency & trades. Strong player evaluation and some luck contribute to their success.
  11. The Texas Tech coach didn't think so as Mahomes beat out Webb. Regarding Webb, I watched most of Cal's games. He's a gunslinger who showed good arm strength and accuracy but the Cal Air Raid system is a spread offense and they used the sideline cards for play calling. So, as with Goff, he operated only from the shotgun but didn't have to read defenses. I believe Texas Tech ran a similar system.
  12. Our new president is 70. Just saying.
  13. I agree with this. The Bills have lost most of their games when the offense has scored enough pts to win but the defense has not played well enough.
  14. They're actually worth less in some fantasy leagues.
  15. If the Pegulas don't change their management structure (GM and head coach both report directly to owners) Whaley won't have the opportunity to select the coach.
  16. Mularkey's going for two and the lead late could've hurt him if they didn't hit that long winning FG.
  17. I would've expected the Bills to win this game because of the history of Miami struggling when they play in Buffalo late in the season. However, the cold in NYC didn't seem to bother them Saturday.
  18. I agree 100% Rex was very vocal that he wanted Tyrod and he got him. He's had some pull with Whaley. Chances are, if you asked him to rebuild his staff, he'll balk and then walk. That would take care of the public relations of firing another coach.
  19. Yeah, I have Crowell. Unfortunately I lost my playoff matchup this past week.
  20. Do you guys remember when Bruce Smith was arrested for the same thing back in 1997 when he was with the Skins? That's freakin' hilarious! At least both of them stopped in the intersection.
  21. $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
  22. Where do you get that from? He hired Tim Murray, didn't he? TM is far from being a Yes man
  23. Speaking from the West coast, where those games started at 6 AM, I only got up to watch that stupid stream-only Bills game, which I couldn't record. Some real attractive match ups there, maybe Saints/Fish.
  24. Rex in Hollywood might be as good as Rex in NY City. LOL!
  25. Also, Miami usually can't handle the Buffalo cold in December and the Bills win, no matter what the records are.
