Gotta love Buffalo! Where were the wings from?

If you take Hasek in his prime and put him in Net on the 2006 team we win that Cup hands down! My biggest gripe with the Sabres as an organization was how do you not surround the greatest goalie to ever play the game with a better supporting cast? It was criminal that we couldn't build a better team in the Hasek era and remarkable at the same time he was able to carry the Sabres to a Stanley Cup final. The 05-06 team was definitely a better team all around even though they didn't get as far as the 99 team did. I agree if not for all the injuries to our D down the stretch we most likely get past Carolina and go on to smoke the Oilers in the Finals that year. The 716 was rocking that year in a way I hadn't seen since the Bills Super Bowl runs.

How often do "project" quarterbacks work out?
BillsPride12 replied to Klaista2k's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'd say a reasonable comparison(and I say reasonable because obviously every situation is unique and going to be a little different) is Brett Favre. He had some raw athleticism and a cannon of an arm but he wasn't very polished at all coming out of college. He showed flashes here and there of what he was capable of but he had to really develop his skills before he became a stud. It took a few years but the biggest thing that sticks out to me was he was working with some great offensive minds and the master himself Andy Reid who is doing wonders with Patrick Mahomes in KC. Do we have the right guys in place that can maximize Josh Allen's talents? -
Like I said I was just taking a shot without actually looking at any stats when I threw Rodgers name out there, but I had no idea he was that far behind him. What Brees has accomplished in his career is really mind-blowing when you think about it especially because of the way he has gone under the radar due to the huge spotlight on Brady and Manning during his era. I think this record will be pretty safe for a LONG time knowing that Rodgers has no shot chasing it down and there really isn't anybody else out there I can even think of that I would be worried about catching it.

Luck has absolutely no shot at it....the only guy offhand without looking up any stats that I figure would be in the ballpark to break it down the road would be Rodgers?

Some people on here have no ties to WNY and other's might have family ties but never lived in the area or moved away when they were really young. Hockey isn't very big in many parts of the U.S. so I think that's where you are seeing the disconnect. Just my theory. But in Buffalo people are very passionate about the Sabres as well.

Best place to get a deli sandwich before the game?
BillsPride12 replied to Adamb412's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Don't worry about getting a deli sandwich. Bring some beer, mingle and make new friends at the tailgate and I'm sure somebody will take care of you with something right off the grill! -

Would you want to live forever?
BillsPride12 replied to SlimShady'sSpaceForce's topic in Off the Wall Archives
No after watching the Green Mile it would appear that would be more of a curse than a blessing. I'm still relatively young and I already hate a lot of things about the modern world. I can't imagine how screwed up things will be in another 50 years from now. -
2nd Home Game--Tickets below face already
BillsPride12 replied to plenzmd1's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yeah I'm pretty much going through the same thing this season. I have already come to the conclusion that this will be my last year as a season ticket holder. As I've gotten older I just enjoy watching the games at home more. I am looking forward to re-designing my basement into a full fledged mancave with a ton of Bills stuff hanging all over the walls so it's not that I've lost my passion completely but I just don't have the excitement for the long, exhausting days at the stadium anymore. I'm sure i'll still go to a game here and there and continue my annual tradition of seeing a Bills game on the road every year...but with the low demand for tickets these days my plan of keeping my seasons and being able to sell some games throughout the year has backfired and it makes no sense to keep it going at this point. In life we go through many different era's and it's bittersweet but I recognize my days as a stadium experience guy are coming to an end and I am becoming one of those I just wanna watch the game from my couch guys! -
2nd Home Game--Tickets below face already
BillsPride12 replied to plenzmd1's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It's been trending this way for the last few years. I can't make it to this weekend's game and I can't give the tickets away. When I got back on the season ticket wagon a couple years ago I figured I would make it to 5-6 games a year and sell some games to recoup some money(not even worried about making a profit but it would be nice to get something for them) but with finances being a little tough these days I am already thinking this might be my last year. I can't afford to constantly eat a full loss when i can't make it to a game. -
Sean McDermott: "Culture Trumps Strategy" ?
BillsPride12 replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I follow some Pittsburgh Sports Reporters on Twitter and have been following this situation for the last few years. The Steelers have been underachieving for awhile and alot of things have been building up for the last couple years which has led to them imploding this season. They have enough talent to win a Super Bowl but they have a ton of divas in the locker room and a lot of guys have friction with each other. Steelers fans hate this current team and I've heard alot of comments saying for many of them they have never cared less about the Steelers before. Do some research and you will see. It hasn't been pretty over there regardless of their winning record the last few seasons. -
Sean McDermott: "Culture Trumps Strategy" ?
BillsPride12 replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The Steelers are the perfect example why Culture does matter. That team is like a freaking Soap Opera right now. Talent is still the most important piece but you can have talent and still not have the winning recipe which is what's going on with the Steelers right now. You need to have talent and culture. It's not a one or the other argument. What people don't realize is McDermott is not gonna throw his guys under the bus in press conferences by saying "We don't have any talent on this team" but he and Beane know they have alot of work to do with the personnel. -

Yet the Process Trumps all -
It was a blast! Similar towns/people to Western New Yorkers. The fans were so welcoming and friendly. Everybody else I talked to said the same thing. Did alot of drinking Saturday afternoon at Duzzi's, thought it was a fantastic sports bar. Then the Bills Backer party afterwards at Stadium View was a blast. We went to Milwaukee Friday for the Brewers game and hit a ton of bars there too. Ate a lot of Brats and Cheese. Toured Lambeau Field and saw alot of Packers history in the Hall of Fame. Would highly, highly recommend any big football fan to make this trip at least once in their lifetime!

I still sit back and reminisce about my childhood years and just how everything was in the 90s. It was a great time in life, a simpler time for sure. Way before smartphones and social media took over the world, a time when all of my grandparents were still alive and all of my family got along. Had a great group of childhood friends, we spent entire summers playing street hockey and backyard football, riding bikes down hills, building forts(and yes playing video games too lol). I really think it was the last generation that got to enjoy an amazing childhood. Sometimes I miss it so much it hurts. Blows my mind when I think about how much the world has changed since then.

Would Buffalo Support an NBA Team?
BillsPride12 replied to Billsfanatic8989's topic in Off the Wall Archives
The problem is the NBA is such a joke of a sporting league nowadays with all the marquee players finding ways to collaborate and up playing in the same market together. Buffalo wouldn't have a shot to be competitive. Even if they drafted some phenom as soon as that rookie deal's over he would off to play in LA or Miami. Although I'm sure Buffalonians would be excited and supportive to have a basketball team, I think that BS would wear pretty thin on the WNY fanbase pretty fast and without a long, rich storied history of pro basketball in Buffalo I could see the average Western New Yorker losing interest fast in an NBA team here. Not to say there aren't alot of basketball fans in WNY because there are but I just couldn't see this being a good idea with the state of today's NBA. Just my two cents. -
Mamas Don't Let Your Babies Grow Up to be Bills Fans
BillsPride12 replied to SoTier's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I was in Green Bay for the game over the weekend and was chatting with some locals who talked about the two decades of miserable football that followed the Lombardi years and how it looked hopeless for so long...and then some young punk wearing #4 came along and changed everything...they were just saying to hang in there because it can change very quickly and it will be so rewarding. Just some outsider perspective I picked up over the weekend that I thought would be worth sharing here. -
I know I'm a little late to the party on this one but this has been my first chance to get on the boards since I got back in town but regardless of the Bills laying a huge egg...this trip was amazing and full of memories I will never forget! Packers fans in both Milwaukee and Green Bay were amazing and seemed genuinely excited to see the Bills Mafia in town. Some even bought our group rounds of drinks! For anybody that is a diehard football fan it is an absolute must to get down to Green Bay for a long weekend and enjoy the experience, sights and sounds from such an awesome and historic NFL city. My new number 1 favorite Bills road game I've been to.

Micah Hyde's San Diego wife loves Buffalo

People forget how close and accessible Toronto is for these guys when they wanna live it up at the clubs and enjoy the big city life. People also forget about how much these guys enjoy hanging at the Sundowner right over the border. -

Tre White is the Best Player On the Bills Now
BillsPride12 replied to Domdab99's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
We will sign him long term. That was the first piece McDermott brought in here. There's no way he's letting him leave. Especially with McDermott's DB background. Marv Levy had a saying back in the day..."I don't want pro bowl players...I want Super Bowl players".....Tre fits that
