Free Agency News and Updates - around the league

Not sure he is going to get more than that in the current market. Supposedly he turned down 17 from the Phins. That might be the high water mark. -
Josh Allen "Prove it" Season In Year 3
Dr. Who replied to longtimebillsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Well, if so, they are just as dogmatic and unrealistic as the folks who already know Josh is a bad qb. I agree that one hopes for another leap in year 3. I am operating under the surmise that is likely. Assuming we get past the current health isolation, we'll see soon enough. -

Does anyone think he doesn't need to improve as a passer? -

Does anyone who evaluates Lamar Jackson as a qb throw out the running stats? -

Appears no one is giving him 20 million, so he's going to have to accept a lesser amount. Sounds like he is now looking for a short-term deal. I think he'd do very well in our D. If he's smart, he'd take a fair offer given the current market to play with a contender that will allow him the best opportunity to enhance future earnings. Personally, I hope Beane makes that pitch. -
Josh Allen "Prove it" Season In Year 3
Dr. Who replied to longtimebillsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think it depends on what you mean by satisfied. I'm satisfied with his progress so far and I believe he is likely to end up a very fine franchise qb. If he doesn't progress from where he is now, that is not good enough. I don't see any plausible reason to expect him to plateau (though, of course, he may) and I can find a number of reasons to be optimistic. Don't really think most folks who are "Josh supporters" differ on this. This does not equate to blind loyalty. What irritates is not a petty aversion to "facts" but the sense that a number of folks follow a consistent agenda to use stats to suggest a narrative that ignores the positives. A lot of these same fellas have clearly already decided Josh is not a good qb and that seems presumptuous, not realism given the qualitative fact that one is dealing with a young, developing qb and not a veteran who has clearly hit the limits of his potential. -
Josh Allen "Prove it" Season In Year 3

Allen is never going to be Brady. I think he can be Favre or Elway. And frankly, I like the wow plays. So, more consistent, yes; Brady consistent is asking him to be a totally different kind of qb and even then, Brady is arguably the GOAT. Allen needs to learn to read the field better, but I surmise he has the intelligence and desire to put in the work necessary to get there. It's not really unusual for a young qb to take time on that skill. He now has the playmakers and overall offensive talent that he should start to trust the folks around him. He's been trying to carry the team when he sensed things going South (like the Houston game.) -
Bills trade for Diggs - jw no discussions on a restructure

Pretty much the opposite of a Process guy. -

Some interesting insight on why the Hopkins return was so low as well. -
I'd feel better if I was confident about RT, but as far as the draft goes, second round I'd still look WR or even RB. Claypool or Pittman would add size to the WR corp and we need to have another strong rb to pair with Singletary. Of course, we also need to add youth at Edge, but if you look strictly at offense, that's where I would be inclined to go.

Does Diggs Count Against us for the Comp Formula?

And why would you imagine they would contemplate letting Dawkins walk? Highly unlikely. -

He'll just reincarnate under a new name and nextmanup would be just as annoying. -

He's not. Never misses an opportunity to go on the crusade. -
He'd be a perfect complimentary #2 back to DS imo, but the knees are a concern.

Taking BPA Literally - Mock Draft Style
Dr. Who replied to RocCityRoller's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
OP set up a criteria of choosing the putative BPA at the pick regardless of need. Results in a ridiculous draft, but the premise was not built on plausibility. -
We are looking at Melvin Gordon according to this tweet
Dr. Who replied to Buffalo03's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think that is generally true, but picking up assignments on pass blocking is often a problem for rookies. -

Yeah, that's a need too. Need some youth at the position. -
I'm still one of those who would like to add him. I think he'd be very, very good in our D.

I agree with this. Hooper and Conklin were my top free agent targets, though I love what we've done in free agency and the trade for Diggs. I think it's very important for Josh Allen's development that we got a #1 wr who does not need time to develop. It seems evident they have more confidence in Ford than many fans. I hope they are right, of course. It would be foolish not to pick up at least one wr in this deep draft class. If Shenault falls within range, I can see a trade up. If not, I'm hoping for Pittman, Claypool, or Tyler Johnson. And just to add my mini-crusade -- Rodrigo Blankenship ought to be on our radar for a day 3 pick.
