New Zealand has been in "Stage 4" (lockdown) for the past three days, but I've already been working at home for a week. Stage 4 is to last at least 4 weeks. (Probably more.) Everything is shut down except for essential services. Like many of you here, I feel incredibly grateful and fortunate to have a safe, steady job. My heart goes out to all of those who don't. That said, this working from home thing has been interesting to say the least. I usually go out of my way to never bring work related stress back to my home and family, but it's now directly inside my home. My overenthusiastic manager wants to keep things flowing and has been encouraging us all to all use video conferencing for meetings. God I hate it. (I want my coworkers out of my house!) So, this may not be the right place to ask, but is it still up to each town/county/state to have the own plans, or are things beginning to be more coordinated? (back in America)

I understand why they would want to postpone it, but they should really try to press on. Make it simple, like how it used to be. Millions of fans have had to change their normal work routines and are working from home. (Myself included.) If we can all do it... they can all do it. Just do it differently. Plus, I'm just jonesing for some football!

Well, our PM announced that all of New Zealand will be going into "Stage 4" (lockdown) beginning tomorrow. She said it would last for at least the next 4 weeks, but quite possibly more. So... it looks like I'll be joining you guys in this thread! I'll be working from home for a little bit, but my in-coming work will dry up pretty quickly. So, what to do then? I hope to use (some of) my time getting healthier. I turned 50 this year, and Lord knows I could drop a few pounds. It's been ages since I've last done yoga, so I promised myself to do that on a nearly daily basis. It's going to be a pain in the backside, getting into it again. We're having beautiful late summer/early autumn weather right now, so it'll be great to hit the trails on the mountain bike, or have a paddle in the bay. I may also pick up the guitar again and properly train myself this time. I've been a "beginner/intermediate" skilled player for a long time and would love it if I could get passed this plateau. (If anyone has good online guitar lessons suggestions, please tell me.) Anyway, I wish all you guys up north nothing but the best of luck. As Red Green used to always say... "Remember, I'm pulling for you. We're all in this together."

Random Place to Spot a Bills Logo
Bad Things replied to BfloBillsFan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I've been in NZ for 15 years now and still haven't seen any Bills stuff. I have my eye out though! I would have thought I'd spot a tourist wearing something Bills related by now. About 10 years ago, I was driving through town (Nelson) and saw a guy wearing a Sabres jersey. I pulled the car up to him, shouted "Lets go Buffalo" and drove off. I think I scared the living poo outta the poor fella! Ha! (If you're on this board, apologies.) BTW, great idea for a thread topic -

plastic bag ban delayed until April 1
Bad Things replied to Steve O's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Is it really so difficult to keep a dozen reusable bags in your car? I've been using the same bags for over ten years now. (There are even two Bills bags in there that I bought when I was back in the States in 2010.) They're still almost as good as new. It speaks volumes about you if you honestly believe mass producing these bags is better for the planet than if they were not. Engauge your brain and use common sense. -

Nice spin?? That what they are referred to in NZ. They were created to be used a single time, although you can certainly reuse them. -

So, that's what you got out of it? Very insightful. -

We've stopped using plastic single-use bags down here for over a year and the sky hasn't fallen down. If fact, I didn't hear a single person complaining about it. Another important aspect to consider, apart from the waste that these bags generate, is the problems that arise from manufacturing them. Quickly looking online, I found this... "Worldwide, a trillion single-use plastic bags are used each year, nearly 2 million each minute. The amount of energy required to make 12 plastic shopping bags could drive a car for a mile." www.earth-policy.org -

I don't think people are "afraid" of those winters. I think many people simply don't like those gray, cold miserable days. Heck, if I call up any of my friends or family in upstate around this time of year, they are ALL miserable and bitching about the weather. It happens every year, so I stay incommunicado until later in spring. I lived 21 years in upstate NY and set sail long ago, not because I was afraid of winter, but because there were other climates that suited me far better.

This broken record is really getting old. Your condescending attitude is getting even older. You harp on and on about Drake's equation like it's the word of God, whereas it's solely based on estimates, variables and assumptions. You've repeatedly bumped this thread up the list, only to shut down the conversation by saying "math". You come across as a total prat. Do you know how I know this? Math.
