The JETS DB's seemed to challenge our short passes alot and made some nice bat downs and Int's. I am baffled why the Bills DB's just let the guys turn and curl, with about a 5 yd cushion? Chan said this morning that the secondary played too soft. Not sure how an NFL team doesn't prepare it's DB's to play some football?!? it was a huge reason why the Jets converted 72% on 3rd downs.

Also, when we extend players and/or coaches contracts they turn to crap or get injured... only in BLo does this happen with regularity.

Chan tried to soften it a bit but he was really unhappy with Fitz's play yesterday. Fitz better be careful not to string a couple games together like that. Maybe he's thinking too much about mechanics because of this new QB coach...instead of just playing his game. Stephen Hill looked awful in preseason yet the Jets trusted him to play. Not sure why Chan would think TJ was not ready? We have ZERO explosiveness at WR. Need TJ in there asap so I'm glad he will be. Maybe this slapping was good in game #1. Maybe the Bills players will now take every single practice and rep seriously. You get the feeling in preseason (even though some of the starters were rolled by Minn, Pitt and Det) that they thought the switch could be flipped once the regular season began. Stevie even said so after the Pittsburgh game. I knew that was a stupid thing to say when he said it.

Long drive early this morning and listened to Mike n mike and some of the local shows in DC, PHI, NY. So depressing to hear them harp on what a waste Mario Wiliams' contract is and how awful the Bills defense is in general. Also, every show independently brought up Fitz's contract extension and how bad he is. They were literally making fun of Fitz and said it's a nice story (the Harvard QB) but in reality he's a mistake prone backup level QB. I'm still baffled this morning at the lack of physicality by the Bills D yesterday. The Jets tried to punish every Bills ball carrier and QB. Buf was so passive. Unreal. Oh by the way, the Reskins came to Toronto last year with REx and Beck, two awful QBs. Now they have RG3 and Kirk Cousins was the backup yesterday. Yep, they deactivated Grossman and now they have two rookies at QB who are better than anything we have. Now i'm really depressed.

eh, don't give up yet. I've come to realize over the last few years that the NY Jets under Rex are a horrible matchup for the Bills. They just play so physical and confident vs. Buffalo it's weird. So in the end, the Jets aren't that good and the Bills aren't nearly that bad. This loss may smack the life back into the Bills and the schedule isn't a killer. That being said if the DB's play that loose over the season it will be another 5-11 year at best.

We saw them last year...a picture of the official blue pants sitting on the shelf in an equipment room. They do exist. Rumour has it that they will bust 'em out this year with the white jersey. Obviously no one is gonna let the cat out of the bag until it happens. I hope it does happen....maybe for the Jets opener.

He said the ticket was only $550 US (one way) so that's not bad. It was a short flight. The only bad part of that type of experience is having to land and get off. Heck i'm excited about flying on an award ticket this weekend on American, first class.

Good post but i think you're giving Chan and co. way too much credit for sitting and designing this preseason, disguise, no game planning ploy. Before the Pittsburgh game Fitz said they DID game plan somewhat, at least for the starters anyway. So i agree that the Bills will run much more to set up the pass. No question they won't come out in the regular season gunning 15 straight passes down the field. What mainly concerns me is the Bills #2 and #3 units getting whooped by Minny and Pittsburgh. That just shows we are not this unbelievably deep team. They gotta stay healthy as does every NFL team to compete.

I'm not talking smack about the Jets until the Bills show they can beat them. The Jets more than any team recently OWN the Bills physically and treat them like their little b*tch. I can't stand Rex and that Jets program but...we gotta beat them first.

I do agree with the sentiment that management is going for an "injury free" preseason...or as best as they can. I also agree that the Bills are clearly working on the pass game and probably hoping the Jets get sucked in to some extent thinking the Bills are gonna go five-wide all day on Sept. 9th. I suspect Chan will be much more balanced in his play calling vs NY. So that being said, we are clearly not as bad as the Minnesota and Steelers game results showed...but nowhere near the "dominant" team i was wearing my rose colored glasses for. Every game...Miami, Jax and St. Louis included..is gonna be a dog fight. To think otherwise would be ignorant.

Tight Ends seem to get obliterated nowadays, especially for being big guys. I'm amazed at some of the big hits they absorb. Scott Chandler took some huge knocks last season.

It's the same thing with Lee Evans, Roscoe and now VY. If the Bills don't need you....the chances of remaning in the League are almost none. Oh, except if your name is Maybin.

Yay, i guess he gets a lot of playing time against Detroit Thursday night. Good luck learning the offense in 3 days TJ.

I have a little. Just from what I've seen i don't think the Bills offense will be much better than last year. Remember, they had some great offensive games (KC, NE, Oak) to name a few. It all falls on the defense. If they can upgrade to a top 12 overall defense leaguewide, then this team has a chance to be a wild card contender. If they continue to give up chunk plays on 3rd down and NOT win the turnover battle then it will be a tough year. The young DB's and not so active LB's could doom them. On July 1st I thought 10-6 was very realistic. Unfortunately they look more like a 7-9 team to me right now. No one fears the Bills on their schedule and every team will take defensive liberties on Fitz and blitz like crazy to disrupt the pass happy offense.

Preseason or not...Gailey is not gonna be happy getting blown out 2 preseason games in a row. This was supposed to be a dress rehearsal. His club is not jelling at all.

Maybe kirk cousins with Redskins too...ha

Agree.. unless he grew up loving American football, i can't imagine why he would entertain the idea? nothing but joint and ligament injuries, concussions, jammed/broken fingers/bones, etc... Why would you want that if you make millions anyway?!?

Some of Bolt's egotistical nonsense is just cultural and personality. He was raised in an environment where maybe he had to mouth off alot about his accomplishements and ability. We see it out of some athletes in this country too. You'd think at this elite level he would put it to bed. Everyone knows he's the best. It must be pretty cool though to wake up in the morning and think to yourself "hey, i'm the fastest human being in the history of the world". I mean that is legendary status... but it will be broken someday. They always are.

Sure wish we had a Russell Wilson type "project" sitting behind Fitz. He does look really good from one game. Our backup QB situation is weak right now.

I was at that game in DC. I think he hit Fred deep down the middle late to help win it. I agree though, he never hit a guy in stride ever again after that. Fitz is the anti-Trent. I wish he would check down once in a while but Fitz insists on throwing to guys in stride surrounded by like 3 defenders. High risk, high reward.
