  1. Actually no, the Redskins took a knee on our 10 yd line with about 1:30 left in the game. They still would've won 10-9...unless their kicker missed a chip shot too.
  2. Still, Brad Smith at the end was completely overmatched by the Redskins #3's. Didn't help that Haslett was blitzing on every play but Brad does not even look like a #3 QB to me.
  3. Maybe Buffalo would get one event but this would be Toronto's Olympics and maybe Niagara Falls/Niagara-on-the-Lake, etc.. No one is getting excited or coming to Buffalo for Olympics...it's a pipe dream to say the least.
  4. Looked like Thigpen knew the playbook better FWIW. WHen he had time and could make a confident throw, he delivered to TJ. VY obviously gives you the scrambling but seemed kinda' clueless about the plays/coverages. IF they could just morph the two guys into one, you may have a serviceable backup. We are screwed if Fitz goes down.
  5. I've always said, building an indoor stadium in Buffalo might curb the late season weather advantage but it would cut down on the ridiculous behavior in the stands. Ever been to a game in an enclosed stadium? People don't tend to fight as much indoors or get stupid. EVen the language is curbed because it's like yelling in your living room. Something about being outdoors in the elements emboldens people to act in a more unruly way. I love going to Bills games but it does have maybe the most rowdy fans in the league...in a bad way.
  6. I tell you, I liked them both. Potter can clearly blast it out of the end zone and Powell had some nice long punts. I can't help but think these 2 guys will have nice careers for other teams. I hope not but it will be hard to cut Moorman or Lindell. Both those vets still have something left in the tank but you gotta believe their skills are on the decline while the younger guys can only ascend. You are seeing them at their most raw abilities right now. I'd like to see if Potter can hit a couple FG's in preseason. I'm sure they will give him a chance. Lindell missing a 22 yarder last night was a joke right?!?
  7. Brought my 6 yo son last year to a Ravens/Cards game in Baltimore. He was subjected to some bad language (by adults yelling at the refs) but otherwise it was normal people. Tickets in Balt are really pricey so you tend to get a more grown up, mature crowd. They still get nuts but don't fight like at Bills games. Buffalo games are cheap and attract lot's of 16-21 year olds, on their own. They are the most obnoxious of all and the chicks too. My kid is 7 now and I was thinkin of bringing him up for his first Bills game this year but may hold off unless i can get in the club seats.
  8. Yeah, i agree about those "tuxedo" collars on the jersey's. I'm not feelin' it. Usually NIKE comes up with some great ideas but this isn't one of them.
  9. I'm fine with keeping the hits to a minimum on Fred and CJ in preseason. They have nothing to prove and need to be healthy for the Jets. Ryan Matthews of SanDiego broke his clavicle last night. As for Fitz, my main concern is that many of his throws are so low percentage. He'll try to stick it in there between 3 DB's and hope the WR or TE makes a great catch. That's also one of his strengths though...he trusts his receivers. His other throws take incredible timing to complete...all timing (and last night his timing was off). Can't he ever be captain checkdown and throw a quick high percentage pass? lol RG3 did that on a all of his completions.
  10. Will be watching this one live on local tv from DC. Looks like a bunch of rain blowing through WNY today. Hope it clears later.
  11. Don't bank on it. I've had Directv for 11 years including the Sportspack. Can't tell you how many times i've seen an event on my guide, and get pumped up to watch it, only to find out it's blacked out because I'm out of market for that regional sports channel. Lot's of preseason football games are on the guide but are blacked out unless you are in that market (unless it's NFLN, ESPN, or a major network). A CSN Redskins game shown in the DC market will not be shown live in Chicago or Buffalo.
  12. Thankfully he saved his wife but what an awful story. Hits home b/c i was snorkeling in a reef in Hawaii a few years ago and unexpectedly got caught in rough water and felt like i was gonna drown...closest i've come to dying. Very scary being out there when you have no control. http://sports.yahoo.com/news/former-hawks-star-roundfield-drowns-175621375--nba.html
  13. Great to see that Jenn won this thing. I don't know though, i watched live and it seemed like many of the vaulters had a bad day. So many just aborted or stalled on the runway leading up to the jump and didn't even try. The diva Russian who usually wins this had a poor effort. The Cuban tied Jenn in height but lost on a technicality. I think the forces just lined up for Jenn Suhr to win it even though it looked like a subpar day overall for pole vaulting.
  14. I'm a sprint canoe racer from Angola.
  15. I'm in DC and unless someone is asleep at the switch.... the only way you'll see Comcast Sports Ch.642 live Thurs night is to live in this area. As a side note...usually the NBC affiliate here shows the Redskins preseason games but they have Olympic coverage that night.
  16. according to the NBC analyst, Bolt takes 41 steps, everyone else 44 thus it's less work for him to cover the same ground, plus he's just plain fast! lol. BTW- thanks for nothing NBC. Waited up till 11pm to watch then finally fell asleep...only to see the result on the front page of my morning paper. They really needed to wait until after 11pm ET to show this race? fail.
  17. Some of you guys have selective memory. Lindell has missed some big kicks over the past couple years. Can i give you specific games? no, but i do recall several times thinking,,Man, Lindell used to be automatic from there. I'm not handing Potter his job but i hope the Bills keep Potter on thr roster since he could be a solid pro in seasons to come.
  18. I called about getting a break for ESPN Gameplan college football. The lady in retention i spoke with was nice but said in her long career at Directv, she has never seen a discount given for Gameplan. After a few minutes of back and forth i could tell she wasn't BS'ing me. Without asking she gave me a $60 credit ($10 per month x 6) as an "HD credit". So in the end this will offset about 50% of the Gameplan price. I already got my deal for Sunday Ticket so this call was worth $60. I was fine with it.
  19. Send Me a PM. I have 2 tickets i can't use on the lower sidelines. Will sell for very cheap...to anyone.
  20. For the polar opposite view, go see Steve Ott's reaction to being traded to Buffalo (in Buffalo News). The guy couldn't be happier,,,but then again, hockey players from Canada seem to love it here.
  21. Hmmm.. I'm paying full price for the college football so i may have to call back. Thanks.
  22. Finally made the annual call today. Just went straight to retention and told her i was a loyal, 11 year subscriber, and always in good standing. Said I wanted a price in line with what other loyal customers are getting. I could have pressed the issue more but accepted the $149 total (24.99 x 6 months) for Sunday ticket including the MAX upgrade. I didn't need a Free package...happy to pay $149 for all the offerings. Maybe if i am down on my luck financially one day, I'll play up the "I want it Free" card.
  23. When i think about Ladanian retiring, it makes me realize how special Fred Jackson is physically to be playing at this level (and how quickly a RB can fade after 30). Fred is only like a year younger than Tomlinson. Now i agree that Ladanian has more "mileage" on him but you can't ignore the fact that Fred played 18 games a year in Arena League ball and NFL Europe in his early pro career.
  24. Here's a FREE article from the NYT about The Buffalo News and it's success. Interesting nuggets about Warren Buffett. I guess TBN is one of the few newspapers that might be able to get away charging a fee since there are a sick amount of WNY'ers living elsewhere in the country...that still feel a bond with their hometown. http://www.nytimes.com/2012/06/18/business/media/newspaper-work-with-warren-buffett-as-the-boss.html?_r=2&pagewanted=all
  25. Yeah maybe. I was sold when he said earlier in the week that the 2 inch cable was like walking on a "sidewalk" compared to his usual 5/8th inch wire. The guy just seemed super confident, he's in his prime physically and he obviously likes to be challenged. Hopefully he can convince whoever in TV to let him walk without the harness if he does this grand canyon thing. I don't think it will draw nearly as much attention if they make him use a harness again....and i truly don't believe the guy wants to wear one.
