Epenesa, Ford & Moss -Are they outta here?
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to Chandler#81's topic in The Stadium Wall
Ford agree could be gone, depends how many lineman they keep and likely come down to him, Mantz, and VanRoten. IMO they will keep two of the three. Ford has been given multiple chances and so far hasn't worked out. The one thing Ford has going for him is a relatively cheap contract, though don't know how that compares with the other two as believe Ford is due about $2.5 mil this season. Epenesa and Moss likely are safe this year. They've never really been penciled in as the starter as there was someone else on the roster who was perceived to be better whereas Ford was given the chance to start and failed at 2 different positions. No shame in being beating out by a 1st rounder or well seasoned vets. Epenesa and Moss also has had a rough road to the NFL in that no rookie mini camp or pre-season games their first year. Thought even in year 2 there were still some restrictions. Anyone drafted two years ago has had a tougher time, some have worked out, some have taken longer. Also seems like Epenesa still hasn't figured out what the correct weight is he should be playing at to be strong enough, but not give up speed. Could argue they have 1.5 season of NFL experience at this point. Moss also has advantage as on paper gives the Bills RB room something that none of the others in that room possess, size! For that reason he likely will stick. Duke Johnson would have to clearly bet him out for him to be cut. Epenesa on the other hand doesn't really give them anything different than their other DE's have. So for him while I think this season he's safe, he will need to take a big step forward to make it to season 4 with the team. -
Agree with you about streaming in general. I also prefer the DVR. I have two houses, one with an antenna and a TIVO for local channels. 2nd house mainly use You-Tube TV and have same limitations about watching something 10 minutes after it starts. It does have full rewind, pause functions though, but not as easy to use as TIVO. For football don't think I'd care much as with sports in general, if I don't watch live, I tend to not watch as usually know the outcome. But in general welcome the ability to subscribe to ST without spending another $1200 a year or more for DTV.
-
Can see why DTV would want to continue to broadcast just so they don't lose the rest of their subscribers. If Roger called me up and asked me my preference for which one to go with I'd go with Amazon, Disney, Apple. I am around this evening if he wants to call. If the NFL package is anything like MLB, the price difference between the full package and one team hardly makes it worthwhile Thought it was kind of funny talking about buffering with streaming as to why many would want to stick with DTV. Try watching DTV during a bad thunderstorm!

Supposedly if Allen had already been taken and Mayfield was still available, rumor has it he was the Bills second choice. Assuming that had happened, how do we think he would have done here? Skip is correct in that having 4 OC's and HC hasn't helped Mayfield at all. He did appear to turn the corner in 2020 season before getting hurt this past year? Admittedly Cleveland did have a better run game than the Bills have and a better O line. But maybe if Mayfield was here, the Bills offense would also have looked different.

Most Dominant NFL Player Ever
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to hondo in seattle's topic in The Stadium Wall
Well they were even before my time. Actually Brown retired about the first year I started following football, maybe was around 8 years old. But still saw plenty of highlights of him back then. He was at a different level and retired close to his prime to become an actor. -

Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to hondo in seattle's topic in The Stadium Wall
Sanders did about half of what Jim Brown could do. He had a style of running that haven't seen since including Sanders. Supposedly too football wasn't even Browns best sport, his best was Lacrosse. -
Kumerow cut, re-signed, according to Profootballtalk
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to The Dean's topic in The Stadium Wall
Jeezz.. I would have loaned them that! -
Agree think there's a better chance of this happening than the Bengals being the top team we face all season. Often when a team comes out of nowhere, they tend to regress the following season, Won't take teams by surprise, not that's its a huge difference, but not playing the 4th place schedule ether. They improved this off season, but a lot went right for them last season.

Why don't NFL players have Tommy John surgery?
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to BringBackFergy's topic in The Stadium Wall
Booooooooo!!!! From a Mets fan! Good point, did anyone Google that? There may be 100's of cases! -
Have we given up on Isaiah Hodgins?
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to Allen2D̶i̶g̶g̶s̶TBD's topic in The Stadium Wall
As someone else stated Kumerow plays ST, Hodgins doesn't, giving Kumerow a big leg up. I also like Kumerow as he can on occasion sub in a WR where as Jones very, very rarely ever gets a snap at RB. For that reason I have little use personally for Jones on the roster. Same with Austin, as you said he may make the 53 for return reason, but I feel confident he could take snaps a WR too if needed. Jones and Tyler M are two guys who take up 2 roster spots for nothing but ST. To me that's one too many, would be happy if one of them is gone, maybe Tyler as he making more the big bucks! -
Bills’ Analytics Department Highly-Ranked
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to Coach Tuesday's topic in The Stadium Wall
Think his "slogan" was "The future is now" as he was also famous for trading away draft picks like they were candy for vets. LOL Must be something about coaching the Rams though from what I recall, he was more known for trading them away when coaching Redskins -
What position concerns you the most?
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to BillMafia716ix's topic in The Stadium Wall
Yeah people are just upset because he was picked #16 overall was it. He's not playing like a #16 overall pick, but not playing bad either. Then again many first round picks flame out so he's probably doing better than many. -
His suspension only starts first week of season, so likely doesn't change anything unless they cut him now.

Agree kind of. This video was titled 22,000 people quitting ESPN. They aren't leaving ESPN, they are dumping cable which means bye bye ESPN too. Think the idea of moving everything to ESPN+ where all you need to do is pay for that could work for them, who knows. Agree too about paying for Netflix, Hulu, etc does add up. I have You Tube TV as gives me access to many cable stations like ESPN, but also give me access to live TV, i.e. local network channels. I have two houses, my primary residence have an antenna with a TIVO for all the local channels. 2nd home antenna reception isn't very good, so use You Tube TV there for locals and in both locations use You Tube for ESPN, etc. All around saving some money but not a whole lot. The one thing I do miss with either DTV or cable is the ability to turn on TV and everything is immediately there to watch. No time wasted exiting Hulu, then starting Netflix or You Tube. Granted it's not much time, but watch less things on ESPN these days as don't want to bother switching things.

The one exception is if you have a great arm, (like someone we know) Defenses will figure you out to a point, but the arm will win if you have a decent brain on your head and decent accuracy to know the right place to throw it. On top of that if you can find someone who also can run and is built like a LB, you're in an even better place. Just have to find that guy!

NFL looking at ways to improve the Pro Bowl
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to Greg S's topic in The Stadium Wall
Have all the offensive players play defense and the defensive plays, play offense. FG kickers punt, punters kick FG, offensive lineman have to hold for kicks. -
Thinking about contract restructuring
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to BigAl2526's topic in The Stadium Wall
Reading the title of the thread, thought you were debating having your contract changed. Was going to ask if you were looking for more or less money! -
Isn't there something on the back in the real fine print that says something about not being allowed to sell over face value?

Vegas oddsmakers really like the Bills
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to HappyDays's topic in The Stadium Wall
OK so that was the year they lost to Washington. Recall Washington kind of came out of no where that year. Meanwhile Bills just lost to Giants in SB and probably were the better team. -

Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to HappyDays's topic in The Stadium Wall
Wow, this is scary being the favorite!! Trying to recall during the early 90's were the Bills the overall pre-season SB favorite any of those years? -
Yeah just so they can out all the bad parts! Well actually Netflix isn't under the same rules are they??

Starting in 2023, games can be flexed to MNF
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall
Is it any different or worse than west coast viewership when the games start at 8:20 eastern time. People in LA are just getting out of work. Even now if working the next day I (and many others) may turn off the TV by 10:30 unless it's a game/team I really want to see I'm guessing they will try to have west coast teams in the late game and east coast teams the early game -
So I took your list and edited slightly, hope you don't mind. I went through all the positions and below the names in black added a number in Red that IMO will be the number of total players on the roster in each position group based off numbers they had in prior years and whats typical. Taking your original 33 I added 20 more to bring the total up to the 53 man roster. Likely some combination of the names in red and blue will be chosen. In the case of RB I put 2 or 3, WR I put 3 or 4 ? and TE 1? I'm thinking will be a total of 6 additional players in those three position groups, how that exactly shakes out TBD. Wouldn't be shocked to see one less DL and one more LB too.

Different field goal holder?
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to Desert Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall
Agree with the development part, though it is much easier to let guys like Milano and Phillips develop and take some lumps early on as generally the results aren't as catastrophic as a bad hold. And also get a decent $$ saving going from Haack to Araiza too. Having said all that do agree 95% likely Araiza will be the holder. I do wonder though if Barkley is on the PS how much will he be paid? Will he get the required minimum or will he be paid more as there's just a minimum amount required, teams can pay more. Would they keep him at the same level he just signed for?? -
Different field goal holder?
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to Desert Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall
I don't disagree with you at all. I think he will be the holder. My point was if somehow he was absolutely terrible like Lucy from Charlie Brown level bad, think there's be a better chance they'd keep Haack than bother training Barkley as either way it's an extra roster slot for a holder only. In that case may as well use the guy who you know is very good at it. Also agree with Barkley being on PS and yes with new rules could easily call him up. But that still means using an extra roster slot on Sundays for a "Holder". Which goes back to my point, may as well use Haack then just to hold. But highly doubt it will come down to that. Very likely Araiza will be holding come September. Araiza also has too much hype to ever sneak onto PS so he will make the roster. Does bring up one question, has the NFL announced are the PS rules the same again for this coming season?
