I'd assume it would be another CB if he's not able to go. Guess it depends on how long they think he'll miss. If feel he'd be ready to go by game 3 or sooner, then would agree with you. If much longer, than I think either option 1 or 3
-
So White needs to go either option 1 or 3 depending how soon they feel he'd be ready.

OK the part in bold was what I recalled. So PUP is different in how it's handled than IR then.
-
So is PUP different than IR and has different rules too? Thought if you were put in IR prior to beginning of season, meant you were out more long term 10 weeks minimum??

Tom Brady Away From Bucs to "Deal With Some Personal Things"
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to Gugny's topic in The Stadium Wall
I'm sure that's the reason he was going in late August as prices usually drop for the past two weeks in August as schools are back for much of the country. -
Read article the other day, stated how game started off with Digg,s Davis and McKenzie. As soon as Diggs left he game Crowder took his spot and McKenzie moved outside and Crowder in slot. Sounds like Crowder is their total #4 WR, so doubtful they'd let him go. May have a little more leverage here as Howard is likely a guy they either trade or keep as too costly to cut, so other teams can't take position of, we'll just wait til they cut him, then get him for nothing. So does give a bit of advantage where a guy like Haack, 31 other teams knew was being cut.

I'll throw out Howard. As was mentioned in an article, he didn't start, it was Sweeney, Morris, and Gilliam to start the game on the 1st and believe into the 2nd drive. Then Howard came in and played late into the game so wasn't like Von Miller deal in that we don't need to see what he can do. His contract is such that not worth cutting him. Suppose Epinesa, Lewis or McCloud wouldn't be bad names either, but would want at least a 4th for Epinesa

Here's the problem with your analogy Typically when you buy a $5k high end TV, you expect it to work perfectly. When drafting players, even high draft picks, many don't work out at all and the career is often short. How's Sam Darnold or Josh Rosen look these days. Even Mayfield is on his 2nd team. Just as an FYI, the average career length of a 2nd round pick is 52 games, just over 3 seasons. Many of the "TV's" in the NFL are dead on arrival or don't last very long at all, it's basically hit or miss and have no idea no matter how closely you check it out no idea if you're getting a good one. So basically, the Bills got the life expectancy out of Ford. You now have an old TV that's out of warranty, most TV's this old aren't even in workable fashion anymore, but the Bills cleaned it up, got it working and as you said sold it for $500 on Facebook, when most everyone else with similar TV's are dropping them off at thrift stores. That's better than most are doing with the TV's so it still can be viewed as a win or at least viewed as something few other are able to do.

Where was discussion on Mantz getting hurt? Can't find anything. Would have assumed 5 plus threads started for a back up lineman injured by now

I'd reserve the term wizard for the above edit

You must be old enough to remember Nixon! (as am I)

Why do teams need to declare inactive players for a game?
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to Big Turk's topic in The Stadium Wall
I recall reading too how this system is in place to help weaker teams as the #53 player on the roster of the strongest teams would likely be much better than the #53 player on the roster of the weakest teams or a team riddled with injuries. Weak teams in general don't have as many great players so it levels the playing field. Also a good way to deal with a nicked up player who has to sit out a week. -
Howard Simon "Winding down" from WGR
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to CountDorkula's topic in The Stadium Wall
Didn't realize he was even that old as he sounds much younger on radio. Not much younger than me then. Understand the 4AM part too very well and it was actually 6AM for me. -
Will we see any starters vs Panthers this week?
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to beebe's topic in The Stadium Wall
Or maybe not guys like Blackshear and Spector if you want to try and sneak them onto PS?? May already have too much Blackshear out there. Unless they want to see alot of him on ST to decide if worth taking the chance on cutting Jones and keeping him? That's the one ST core guy I'd like to see gone. And I know they struggled a lot on Saturday on returns, but many other regulars also weren't playing either. -

Any idea how old Simon is? I didn't think he was anywhere near retirement age. Then again is easy for these journalist types to get tons of free lance and part time work. Look at Sully! -
Yes you can as if you notice my screen name, didn't always have quite as many words.

Good Night / Bad Night - Pre-season game 2
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to GunnerBill's topic in The Stadium Wall
Agree unless they see quite a bit out of him on ST. Think he's be #7 and likely not be active on game days if everyone else is healthy. He practices all year on ST, next year, assume his WR skills stay the same or better and now with a year ST experience under his belt, admittedly not much in actual game situations, he takes Kumerows spot. -

I guess we have different definitions of being thrown under the bus, below are some quotes from Dawkins, after seeing your post I went back and re read the article a second time. He had more good things to say than bad. Not sure too if Dawkins was implying maybe the entire line felt Johnson focused too much on the negative all the time. “Cody had a hell of a day,” Dawkins said, “pancake after pancake after pancake, no pressures.” “Cody is a fighter,” Dawkins said. “Last year, he was upset he wasn’t playing. This year, he’s taking it as a reality check and is handling it the right way. “What we want to see is him respecting the challenge and not complaining about it. As long as he’s not pouting and keeping high spirits, as long as he puts his best work on film, he understands what needs to be done.” “(Kromer) doesn’t sugarcoat anything,” Dawkins said. “He’ll tell him exactly what he doesn’t want to hear. He’ll say, ‘This is f** horrible,’ or, ‘You think that you’re doing it right, but you’re not.’ “Cody’s heard that before, but now it’s from a different face. So now it’s not, ‘Oh, that’s Bobby being Bobby.’ Now you have two people saying it, so now you’re the one that’s wrong and not them.” “I’m proud of him,” Dawkins said. “It’s easy when things are going wrong in this league to shut it down and go into a dark place. “He’s not there. He’s working.” Also this from Ford: Asked about the difference between Kromer and previous assistant Bobby Johnson, Ford responded with eight seconds of silence. The corners of his lips curled upward as he mulled his reply. “He’s doing a phenomenal job,” Ford said of Kromer. “I don’t know what that means, coming from me. But the way we’ve been coached and the techniques that we’ve learned is why I say there’s been so much improvement.” https://theathletic.com/3524555/2022/08/20/bills-cody-ford-training-camp/ -
Not keeping 5 RB's it's either Jones or Blackshear, but not both. As others mentioned that extra slot will go to LB, so ends up 25 each offense and defense plus 3 ST And if White starts out on IR, likely spot would be taken by either Lewis or McCloud believe is his name (the guy with 6 stitches)
-
It's not a matter of stashing them on the PS. You have now reduced the slots left for offense or defense by one on the 53 man roster as you now only have 49 spots available. You mention CB, tell me which of these names do you think could even slip through to the PS: T White, T Johnson, D Jackson, S Neal, K Elam, or C Benford?? You also now would only have 5 of them left on the roster. CB is normally one of the spots each week someone sits out on, so now down to 4 CB's on game day You also mention OG, so now instead of having 9 OL on the 53 and typically sit one on Sundays, so now have 8 to start with. Again one of the OL is usually also one of the six you don't suit on on Sundays so are you now going to sit one of the 8 and only play with 7? However if you do that, there's a rule that says if you don't keep 8 OL active on Sundays, you can only suit up 46 instead of 47. So now down another player so you can have an extra holder. This has nothing to do with money, it's everything to do with roster management and player allotment per position. Having players available on Sundays is the essential part and your idea would risk that. There's another whole thread discussing how many of the specialists to keep as far as guys like Jones, Matakevich, Neal etc. and how to best make the numbers work without limiting ST players. You're now further reducing that for an extra holder!!

Could OJ Howard be on the trade block?
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to Inigo Montoya's topic in The Stadium Wall
Think Sweeney and Morris are surprising a bit an Howard to in a negative direction. Article also mentioned how Giants TE group is very weak. They got a 6th rounder for Bodine!
