  1. They did?? Everything I recall reading was the opposite. The players all said what a great teammate Richie was. I'm sure they'll agree it got out of hand mainly because Martin couldn't handle it which unfortunately they figured out too late for the most part.
  2. I recorded it and watched it Friday night, saw the parts about Duison (sp) killing himself, McMahan having issues, others complaining of all the aches and pains, but how they'd all do it again in a heartbeat. then afterwards was on the computer and read the story about Montana having trouble running, seems I recall I read another story last night of another former player also having physical issues. Kind of scary hearing all that in the same day.
  3. Personally I think Roger is doing a great job of projecting the position that the league wants to be seen in. He's just doing what the owners asks him to do and based on the popularity of the game it seems to be working well. In a way it's great strategy by the league. Roger you stand up front and take all the hits publicity wise, while we pull the brinks truck up to the rear door. In exchange we'll give you a big bag of loot for being the fall guy. But why blame him? IMO the whole concussion thing way predates Roger. That was an issue floating around for years that's been ignored by all as it truly goes against the fundamentals of the league as to it's ability to make money. I worked for Kodak for many years and it kind of reminds me of Kodak's strategy of ignoring digital film as it would strike directly at it's profits from selling film. Granted this is much more serious but same idea of management ignoring a massive issue as they knew it would hurt them in the pocket. As far as the Ray Rice I have a different perspective on that. When it first came to light Roger tried to protect Ray Rice by just kind of viewing it a;s Boys will be boys, the woman wasn't complaining, so just slap him on the wrist. Then when the video came out the league had to do much more, but then were on very shaky ground as they had already disciplined him for it. I thought the players took advantage or Roger in that he was trying initially to do the players a favor for not coming down hard on him for this, then when everyone was ripping the league and Roger for not doing more the players jumped on the bandwagon too.
  4. I wonder if the father is having second and even third thoughts about the times back in college when he defended him and taught the kid to thumb his nose at the NCAA. Maybe without those "lessons" from the ole man, things wouldn't be where they are today. Likely the league will step in; in the form of a suspension. I'd imagine the league stepping in from a one sided position of Jonnie not asking for help would open themselves up to all kind of HIPPA violations. Honestly don't see a reason for the league to help unless or until he asks for it.
  5. Hell, I'd be impressed if they could just predict 75% of the players taken in the 1st round regardless of team. Actually they probably do get that part correct as unlikely too many players are going to fall from the top 10 to 33 or lower. But how many do they get right between say #20 and 32 as opposed to dropping into 2nd round, and/or players moving up to the 1st round.
  6. He won't/can't be fired for what he said. However he could be gone due to any negative attention his comments may fall on the BN. In addition if advertisers start threatening to pull money and ads, again he could then be in trouble. Newspapers can't afford any bad publicity these days as shaky as things are. Don't know if these guys have any types of contracts or just strictly salaried employees, but could see him gone within a few months so it doesn't appear he was let go specifically because of this. Or like often happens in the employment world, next time there's a playoff he's the first to go, with a severance package of course..
  7. Yeah was quite funny. That was the same one where Graham claimed most of Marrones "issues" were driven by his wife.
  8. They were playing back tapes of it on Mike and Mike, and laughing about him. I'll bet this will be making all the talk shows. There's an article on MSN sports about it too, doesn't name Sully but talks about "A reporter"
  9. From what I've read if the Raiders don't get to go to LA, Davis will be given some type of large cash settlement. That will indirectly pay the relocation fee's. Or he'll just sue like the ol man did. Well if Lanfora reported it, we know that's NOT going to happen. Davis's talk of going to San Diego may force the Chargers to stay put as having a team that close would hurt them. So we're going from one team in Southern Cal to three teams, two of which are In a city that has failed twice to support a team (3 if you include the old AFL days)
  10. From listening to the podcast, I thought it was the other way around, Graham had asked EJ the question?? Was Jay even around two years ago??
  11. Yeah same with me had no idea who it was on Mike and Mike when they were playing it back. Pretty funny. In all seriousness this is the type of thing that could get him canned as likely BN will need to come out with some type of statement disavowing themselves from the comments. "We would never think that"!!
  12. That's true as would ST be cut back. Kind of laugh when the "knowledgeable DTV rep who's tryign to sell me on buying Sunday Ticket in that I'll be getting to watch 15 games every week. Since everyone seems i.e. players, seem to not like Thursday night games, why not go to the Monday Doubleheader and eliminate Thursday nights instead.
  13. Or you could argue that they wasted many draft picks in doing that with no return. To me the logistics of implementing a plan like this makes in impractical. Questions raised What round are you drafting these guys? I'd assume it varies over the years. If you draft someone in the 1st three rounds, and maybe even #4, you can't pull the old cut him and bring him back on the PS as likely someone else would grab him. So now keeping him active. With a plan like this you likely would also need a veteran backup to come in if whoever is your starter gets hurt. So now you have a starter a vet backup and at least one of or two of these guys you're still trying to figure out. To make something like this work, you'd have to keep four or maybe even five QB's on your 53 to give them time. How do you find time to develop them? Heard in many places once training camp and pre-season are over backup QB's may get about a half dozen reps per week with the starters. Ant that's likely the #2 guy. You're #3 or 4 will hardly get a snap. By the time you may have figured out a guy might be good his contract is up and he leaves. I think the better way is as the Bill's have done is bring a guy in give him a couple of years where you're giving him every advantage you can to become good and see what happens. If it doesn't work, then move on to plan B. You could make the argument that one thing that hurt TT this past off-season was a three man QB competition took time away from his development. Doing that evey year would only make it worse. And if you don't do it, you'll never have enough info to determine if the others can make it or not. The issue is the Bills, like many teams in the league can't find the franchise guy becasue there aren't enough floating around. If there was every team would have one.
  14. You'd think one of these years they'd go to double headers on Monday nights like they do the 1st week of the season. 7 and 10 for starting times, and try and make the 2nd game mostly west coast teams. Personally I'd prefer that as would then watch the entire 1st game. and people in Pacific times would likely watch the entire 2nd one.
  15. I'll be surprised if EJ if on the roster for this coming season. The only reason he sticks around would be they can't find anyone they feel better about. I can see them drafting a rookie, and trying to sign a more experienced backup, like another Kyle Orton.
  16. Let's start a pool to predict the date of the demise of Major League Football League.
  17. Sunday night is the #1 night of the week for TV ratings, as opposed to the lowest rated night is Saturday. Granted if the Super Bowl were played on a Saturday, I'm sure for that one week things would change. Probably shouldn't be talking about this too loud, else the NFL may get ideas like MLB or NBA, or even college sports and start the game at 9:00 pm instead. Or how about 4:00 in the afternoon on New Years Eve? That worked well!!
  18. Interestingly, the number of players retiring before age 30 has also gone up every year for the past five. Guess the players have figured It out too.
  19. I'm not comparing to Buffalo, face it if the Bills had left Buffalo wasn't getting another team. Comparing to places like LA, San Antonio. Having said that though IMO there likely are more high paying jobs in Western NY than there are in Vegas, medical fields, technology, etc. And definitely confusing with Clark County. There's a ton of money on the strip, mostly belonging to tourists. Get off the strip and the residents all work in the gaming industry and it's supporting businesses, restaurants, etc. Not sure ther'es all that much money there.
  20. Lets not forget singing on the sideline with 3 minutes left in the game and doing his Superman routine even when losing by 30. Cam does many good things, but hard pressed to recall another who comes across as cocky as he does.
  21. I question if there's much money in Vegas at the level of an average fan. I'm sure there's tons of money there but I think compared to most cities of equal population the big $$ is shared by a small few. There's no real economy there except for gambling and doubt most of the Casino workers and those that it support that industry earn much money. Probably not enough to buy a ticket to a game. So do agree with Augie in that not enough permanent residents who'd actually spend money on a ticket. The gambling angle is interesting as the league has always stayed away for that reason. I think this is just Mark making enough noise to tr yand get a better offer from the NFL.
  22. A few days back on the Mike And Mike show, they were talking about Chip Kelley and how when you give these guys all this power, there has to be someone in the organization who they will listen to when that person tells them you are wrong, or that's a terrible idea. In that respect I think having Rob here may be good for Rex as I'm pretty certain he won't be afraid to tell Rex to stick it at any time. Also think Rob understand the D that Rex wants to run better than anyone else on the staff so his presence will allow Rex to have more time to actually be the HC instead of having to hold Thurmans hand all the time.
  23. Of the teams you list, Baltimore, Chargers, Cowboys, Saints, & Cards all have current starting QB's with better all around resumes than TT The Jets' and Lions are a wash as to whether TT is better. In n most of these cases these teams current starter is better today than TT, but the end of their careers is near. Would those teams like to have TT as a back up or as WC posted to complete, sure, but again not going to pay 19 mil for him to be the backup the next couple of years. So do agree with many, your list of teams willing to spend anywhere close to $19 mil is very misguided. I will say, IF he does have a great or even very good year in 2016, that list will grow, but really a large leap to come to conclusion that TT will jump at the chance to leave due to disrespect.
  24. If you're worry is when TT doesn't play, doubt the draft is going to help much for another couple of years unless there's an Andrew Luck out there you can get with a 3rd round pick. More likely need to find someone like another Kyle Orton. If you're drafting a guy, then he's to maybe play in a couple of years.
  25. Cause most teams barely even carry three
