  1. Well you do bring up a good point in that one highly motivated person will be Bill B to prove everyone that he is the man thta makes everything go here, not Brady!
  2. The risk he takes in appealing is there's a very good chance he loses the appeal or more likely not even heard. However maybe In the back of his mind is this is his last season, or if he loses the appeal he would retire next year and if the Supreme Court gives a stay, he could sneak through and plays out this season. But it is a big risk as they may rule in November, no we're not hearing it, suspension starts immediately, then he could be out for the end of season or even the playoffs. would he want to take that risk? I'd think the Pats would suggest he give up and not take that chance.
  3. Actually it wouldn't have a been a problem as DC and Buffalo are different cities, maybe even different countries?? You just can't be president and own a team in the same city.
  4. The three reasons I keep DTV in order are: The DVR, hardly watch anything live or with commercials Sports ala ESPN Sunday Ticket I could live without Sunday Ticket, could go with Sling TV for ESPN, but still want the DVR function. Yeah you can stream, but a lot more buttons to click and more restrictions as to what and when you can get shows and programming.
  5. Could easily make the opposite argument, Rape murder, etc are all offenses the NFL should not even get into policing at all, leave that to the courts to deal with. On the other hand anything that potentially damages the integrity of the game the league should enforce hard.
  6. So anyone know how all the rookies who have not yet signed contracts are protected against injury for example when they attend last weeks rookie camp and other similar events? Insurance policy taken out be team? What if a player suffered a season ending or even somehow a career affecting injury. What happens then?
  7. Because people expect immediate results. If a player isn't playing near pro-bowl level by the end of his rookie year, he needs to be replaced according to the thinking of many around here (and yeas am exaggerating some, maybe the level but not the concept) Not saying Slauson isn't better and that we shouldn't go after him. But the general concept leaves a team constantly replacing players, no time to develop. If I recall Henderson was rookie of the month in Sept, people here were calling him the steal of the draft, yes he struggled later on, and last year likely the illness effected him all year. Now he's no good either. And they may be right, but if you replace these guys after one season, you'll never know You often hear how rookies tire out as not use to training camp, then 4 weeks of per-season games, then 16 regular weeks, five full months compared to around 3 1/2 in college. O-line tend to not come out for rotations either, so probably even tough for them. I'm sure the same people who are arguing that Miller should be replaced, in the next breath will then point out how many of Whaleys draft picks don't pan out, well kind of hard when you don't play the guy.
  8. Extension of Harborcenter to be ahead of global warming
  9. I've said it more than once: Jerry Jones is probably one of the most football savvy owners in the League!! Jerry Jones is probably one of the least football savvy GM's in the league.
  10. Rob likely got more than that for hosting that cruise!
  11. You're right, he didn't make All Pro his rookie season. Complete bust, Whaley needs to be fired for not drafting 7 All Pro's every year.
  12. Exactly, He's the last guy you want to daft, way too much pressure on him particularly in Buffalo. Coupled with some of his recent actions says he may not be the best guy to deal with pressure well.
  13. More likely it's a case of teams telling the LaCanfora's of the world the Bill's contacted me about trading up, then a second team concurs the Bill's contacted them too. Never mentioned who they were after, but then either the other teams or the LaCanfora's speculate on the who part. Yeah the Bill's want a QB, must be for Cook, who else could it be, and they run with it. Likely Canfora contacted Whaley to get a confirmation, is it true you're trying to trade up and for whom. Whaley probably laughed but then went on to tell him all the teams that contacted the Bill's about trades and the circle of life continues. Just like yesterday saw a story how Dallas wanted to trade up with Buffalo, but didn't offer enough. Where did that come from, just as easily could have come from Whaley and the Bill's. I'll bet you somewhere at the time on Thursday night on some Dallas message board there was a link about Dallas trying to move up and who the teams were that they were working with.
  14. For a guy who's only been on the job full time for two seasons isn't bad. Considering it takes often three to four seasons for someone to fully develop, it's kind of tough for a guy to have a resume after two season to judge him on better than 24th. Conversely, the 23 guys rated hirer aren't going to be available either, so who are you going to get to take his place other than another guy just like Whaley who may have been a great scout, but as GM who knows? he may become good, or better than 50/50 shot won't be all that good as there are more failures than successes.
  15. The one point that sticks out more than anything is that 31 32 teams passed on him for five rounds, so goes to show there's often more luck involved than anything else. To me, it also makes it seem more silly to want to fire Whaley for not getting us a franchise QB. All the GM's and their assistants failed to properly realize Brady's potential and passed on him, so now we're going to fire Whaley and bring in one of these same guys whom passed on Brady, and expect he will find us the answer. You want to fire Whaley for other reasons, fine, (though personally I fell he's done way more good than bad moves) but getting rid of him for not getting a franchise QB is pretty laughable when there's a good chance the unknown is even worse.
  16. I was never a huge Flutie fan as to often he'd always deflect the blame to others. It was never him! But I did feel at the time he got screwed in a similar way in that he signed with the Bills, then a month or two later the Bill's traded a #1 draft pick for Rob Johnson. I'm sure if Flutie had known they were going to sign Johnson, he'd have never signed here in Buffalo. Granted he wasn't the incumbent starter, but still I'm sure he was led to believe he had a good chance at being the starter, until you trade a #1 pick for someone else.
  17. Considering the team the Bills had for many of those early years not being very good, I'm not all that certain that Big Ben would not have looked like a bust and would have been long cut or let go by now. Pitt placed a strong team around him the early years, so wasn't asked to do much.
  18. I think the day Hughes signed his extension with the Bill's was the end of the Mario era as no way the could afford to keep him. If Mario had a great year and loved playing for Rex, would he have then agreed to a big cut so they could afford him? Maybe but highly doubtful as doubt he'd have agreed to take that large of a cut. His first year hear seem to recall many people ripping the Bill's for signing him as he played terrible. No he wasn't wrong but alot of the reason for the defenses poor play was due to Mario basically checking out. So in a very self serving way, yes he was correct. I think the biggest mistake Rex made last year was not going all in on his D. He made the mistake of trying to appease the players in so doing ended up wit ha half baked unit.
  19. Completely agree on both points! And lets not forget often the reason he's letting go of players early was because the GM for NE signed a player to a contract worth much more than their abilities showed. BB covers up alot of the weaknesses of the GM up there. Who is there GM there anyway??
  20. You don’t need to use a 1st round pick for a RT. As to what would happen if Glenn goes down, that could be said for most teams in the league, what would happen if their LT goes down. I suspect Henderson was plagued all last season by his illness, but took until November to figure out what was wrong with him. Those types of illnesses usually don’t happen overnight, they start out with unexplained weight loss etc. which for an O-lineman is pretty tough to deal with. So I’d be in favor of giving him another year, assuming they truly do have this illness under control.
  21. Just because the player states to the media he's willing to take a pay cut means very little. It could mean: A) I'm willing to take a 2% cut in pay B) Yeah I know I'm not very good so will take a 30% cut in pay even though I still be paid twice what I'm really worth. C) Actually I want a 10% raise, but the way I se it after inflation that's really a cut for me, plus as long as I say I'd take a cut it makes me look like the good guy and it's highly unlikely the team would publicly call me out on this. As for Peters I recall more what the original person stated, he kept wanting more. I thought the first re-do of his contract was after he had already switched to the left side, but even if what you're stating is true, how long was it after he switched one season? He was a disgruntled player who's actions showed that continuously both on and off the field, so the Bill's made the right move at the time. And beyond all that whether he's willing to take a cut or not, it depends whether the team feels the player is worth bringing back. . The three words in your post I agree with is "They sign the guys they need" which is what every team does.
  22. Six weeks not able to walk sounds strange for a normal knee injury if ligament. Usually with ligament damage after surgery, they have you up walking the next day. This must be something much worse. Wonder if he got some type of injury settlement from the Pats, as thought you can't cut an injured player, even if contract expired, aren't Pats still on the hook until he's healthy?
  23. Yes he'll make a comeback, will it be any good, who knows?
  24. Let's be real here, this article was written by the NE Patriots beat write fro ESPN. So was he supposed to write how this would have affected the Minn Vikings? I get it that everyone here hates NE and Bill Belichick, but you need to get some level of reality and logic. Kind of funny to ridicule the writer for making it all about Belichick only to make it all about Belichick in a negative way. That's good!
