  1. Could be, but the timing does indicate more to it than that.
  2. All these threads about bringing in this guy as coordinator for this HC are really pretty much all pointless. Unless you know of some connection between Lynn and Shanahan or Bradley, not likely to happen. Coaches will bring in guys they are familiar with or coach their own philosophy. It was like all those threads last year complaining that Rex didn't keep Schwartz, they have different beliefs so it wasn't going to happen.
  3. I was listening this morning on the radio and they were talking how Rex would be a great collage coach as players and parents would love him which I'd tend to agree with. He'd be great with recruiting, etc. But if NFL players had trouble understanding his defense with as many hours they put in, how would college players ever figure it out. He'd really likely have to dumb it down. Admittedly if they could figure it out, no offense could probably stop them either.
  4. Marrone didn't turn down he walked away. Considering the situation, someone maybe his wife had convinced he was this hot name and would easily get a new job, so he took $4 mil, walked away, figured he'd get a better job, paying even more once the bidding started. Problem was he didn't realize how much quitting on a team tarnished his name. He'd have been much better off if the Pegulas had come in and said we're cleaning house and bringing in our own people, so you're fired. Then being out of his control, likely he'd have been hired right away. Mularkey too recall there was something going on, think it was Levy being hired as GM, he was afraid he's be let go in a year as not one of Levy's guys. Little did he realize at the time Levy wasn't going to fire anyone unless everyone agreed he needed to be fired as he called himself the consensus builder. And that was 10 years prior to Pegula's being here so not in any way related to them.
  5. Exactly every year people make a big deal out of this and by this time next year everything will be different. Coaches are also smart and with big egos, and have heard all the rubbish coming out of Rex so not likely any of them are surprised he was fired and they all figure they'd never have these same issues themselves. Likely everything you list as reasons are identical with every other team too, but you're not following them so don't hear about it.
  6. I think they said, sit TT He said no So both got fired
  7. He still owned a house down there, at least a few years back anyway. I hadn't heard, is Doug being interviewed?
  8. Well at least it doesn't screw up fantasy teams as most leagues are over.
  9. Geez.... You've been getting very mellow lately. What's wrong with you? Been drinking alot over the holidays?
  10. The way the league is heading really prefer an offensive minded guy. I'd even take a person with ST background before a defensive guy. So IMO, cross out all names from the defensive side.
  11. You're right teams aren't stupid, so they also realize that by trading for him they have him locked up. Once he become a FA a team could offer the most money, but he may still decide to go elsewhere as feels it's a better fit or the team is better. they no longer control things. Admittedly it does reduce his trade value as asking too much teams will say, I'll wait it out. But if team really wanted him, they may over pay a little, but doubt it would ever be as high as a 1st or 2nd.
  12. Wow!!. It's rare to find someone who thinks so highly of himself. Your arm must hurt from patting yourself on the back. No reason to start a Gofund me campaign as I'm sure the other 31 teams would love to hire someone as smart as you. Well unless the GoFund me campaign is to get rid of you again, then they'd likely be many people contributing.
  13. They are highly regarded by people in the media who really don't know, let's see if actual NFL teams agree.. But you're right all you need is two teams and every year there's a number of teams that way over pay for someone.
  14. If Denver wants a better QB option than the currently have I think they'd take a shot on Romo way before TT as with TT he may be a small upgrade, or maybe a downgrade over Lynch and Trevor.
  15. If he succeeded, the extension was cheap by today's standard woiuld have been a cheap deal for a good NFL starting QB. If he failed, then you cut him and no money lost. I can't see how that would work as teams would know the Bills likely need to make a decision by the end of the NFL season, else they could be on the hook for the contract, plus isn't part of it a bonus so as long as he's with the Bills on that first day, they'd be on the hook for the entire bonus paid.. It would leave both the Bills and other interested teams in a game of chicken, who blinks first. Likely outcome could be they may be able to get something for him, if another team would want him at that contract, but at much less than what the Eagles got for Bradford. Plus would be surprised based on what he's shown this year that another team would want to take on that contact. I think it still may be they'd like to keep him, but sign him to a lower contract. Would he accept that, probably not likely without first tasting the FA market.
  16. OK you are technically correct, but prior to the date they need to exercise the option they can talk informally with TT, "we need to redo the contact to this amount, will you agree?" If yes then the Bills void the contract so for about five minutes he's a FA, then they sign the new one already agreed to. Now it would be possible, during that five minutes, TT could say Ha Ha fooled you, I'm not signing it, but that doesn't happen at this level as an agent isn't going to lose all credibility
  17. I hope you're joking?? I mean someone with over 11,000 posts can't be this ignorant about basic NFL football contracts can you?? You are however 100% correct, contracts can't be broken and TT could sue for breach of contract. Except for one little tiny problem. All the bills have to do is say, we're now cutting you prior to I believe it's 3 days after the start of the new calendar year and there is no contract that was broken. It no longer exists and everyone goes their merry way. Well TT goes his merry way with slightly lighter pockets.
  18. Does bring up one good point, in the two years with the Jets that the team played well and went to conf championship game, I wonder if there were few injuries on the defensive side? Maybe as long as the starters are out there and have good talent, they know what's going and they are able to learn the defense, but once you start bringing in subs due to injury, everything falls apart.
  19. Think it's just the nice political thing to say now, he'll be considered, probably even will interview him as it also is a check box for the Rooney rule. (aware others on the rumored list would also take care of this too)
  20. Think it was a combination of these things. Once the Bills were eliminated made sense to fire him. The Bills didn't want to expose TT to injury and be forced to pickup contract. Doubt they are certai nwhat they will do, but don't want anything to force their hand either Then Rex comes out on Saturday and states he's playing TT which if the rumors are true that Rex already knew he was being let go, then likely he did it just to stick it to the Bills and force their hand to fire him now. Maybe Monday they went to Rex to try and get him to agree to go with EJ, he refused so today he's fired.
  21. They need a win or an Oakland loss to wrap it up, so their starters likely will play. Thought I saw the NE game was switched to 4:00 so the same time played as the Oakland game so both team will be playing to win at least in the 1st half and likely beyond.
  22. Assuming the articles written about Rex being canned at year end are all true, as was questioned here, I do think Rex has been told he'll be gone at year end, or if not outright, reading the tea leaves he knows he's gone. So what's Whaley supposed to do, support Rex state the articles are all false then fire him in ten days, or even worse, publicly NOT give him a vote of confidence. If the rumors are all true, I think silence by Whaley makes the most sense. Reading the PFW article, sounds like the Bills are parting ways more as it said they've grown tired of Rex's act than based on actual coaching, so again makes most sense to say nothing. If the Bills are officially eliminated this weekend which likely will happen, wouldn't be surprised to see them can Rex on Monday as the questioning will be relentless, particularly if Rex has already been told he's done at the end of the year. Maybe that was part of Rex's deal, let me stay until we're officially out of it.
  23. Ummm..... they do need someone to snap the ball.
  24. He probably was fantasizing about next season in LA
