  1. Depending on the FA moves made by the Bills, if they look like they'll be a somwhat improved team, wouldn't be surprised to see a Monday or Thursday night game against Cleveland to have Mayfield vs Allen. I'm sure the prelim schedule is worked on very soon, but likely tweaked after the first few weeks of FA to see how the landscape looks for next year.
  2. Makes it easy when you have the arm to get away with it as opposed to TT who lacked an arm.
  3. Based on comments by McD will be surprised if Crossman doesn't go. Castillo will more be up to what Dabo thinks. As to the comment about Beane not having the clout, typically assistant coaches hirng/firing are at the decision of the HC, not the GM. Does the GM ultimately OK the deal, yes, but more of a rubber stamp of the HC.
  4. NO! It must be motivation for the pro Bowl!!
  5. Can see that concept working when you have another game in a week. Hard to do the right thing when your next chance won't be for another 8 months
  6. Bill Cowler was commenting how impressed he is with him and how he's going to become a great coach. Guess that makes me real happy we never did get Cowler to come here to coach as he must really be clueless if he thinks McD is a good coach as many on this board much more knowledgeable about the game than Bill Cowler is have already told us that McD is a terrible coach. Who can argue with the experts around here?
  7. True but the list isn't very long. Plus in between he coached in the CFL a few years too and did well. As opposed to Gase going from Miami to immediately being hired by another team.
  8. LOL! Well I suppose you could add Dougie to the list too, though he also makes the list of HC that may be fired tomorrow.
  9. While I agree with the premise, the list of who's succeeded isn't very long. Besides BB who else is on the list of bad at first location and greatness afterwards? I'm sure there are a few, but I can't think of any off the top of my head. Tom C overall was good in Jax, eventually ran out his welcome, went to the Giants and was about the same, but with two super bowl wins
  10. LOL! When I first read the title, thought it said " and emotional sites out there" Was thinking you can't get much more emotional that this place!
  11. Has to make you wonder some if they are? I mean why would the owner or whoever is above the GM who's job is secure allow a person about to be fired to extend a guy for 4 years? But maybe that's why they are the NY Jets!
  12. But his plan was to draft a guard (which I also agree with) Unless you absolutely feel you need to move Dawkins elsewhere, you typically don't need to use a first rounder on a guard or a RT. Will Dawkins likely be an all pro LT probably not, but do think he's adequate particularity when you surrond him with better talent. Plus his plan was to sign a RT from Carolina, so if you want to move Dawkins and signed another RT, where you moving him to? You've pretty much completely blown up the OP's original plan which is fine, but then who else are you signing. While I agree that it's easier to sign WR and RB than LT, the question is do we need really need a LT? True Teller hasn't proved anything, but neither has any rookie you draft either.
  13. That's the problem when the GM and coach weren't hired together. Regardless of what many here will argue, don't think the order of which comes first is that important, just that they both support eachother.
  14. I'm on board with most of your plan, though probably would pass on the 2nd WR Conley/White and instead use a2nd day draft pick on a rookie there instead. Rest I like. As for Bell, I'd be OK wit ha short term contract, though would be shocked to see Bell take that, the only was is if he way over valued his worth and no one else in all that interested. I think he will end up in Indy, but can see him talking to the Jet's and Bills to try and drive up the offers. Like to see them trade down to get and extra 2nd and/or 3rd rounder. Then could potentially use 1str rounder on DL, 2nd on guard and WR, 3rd on RB and BPA maybe another lineman?
  15. I looked up his numbers, compared to all ROOKIE TE's he'd be ranked 7th in receptions and 8th in yards out of 15 rookie TE's Considering how weak the Bill's WR are makes those numbers even a bit more impressive. And BTW there's only 8 2nd year TE's with better numbers and he'd rank 5th compared to 3rd year players. Compared to all TE's this season would rank him 44th As far as him not being picked up by another team , Nick Oleary's three year totals with Buffalo are a little worse even than Croom's and he was not a good blocker either. But in spite of that not only was he picked up to someone's PS, he was signed active by Miami. So really doubt he wouldn't be signed by another team. Sorry he's not Gronk in his prime, so apparently based on your evaluation, anything less he needs to be cut. So you never did answer what two TE's would you replace him with that have better numbers? Based on the numbers, the only way you'd even come close to coming out ahead would be to sign the #1 TE off two teams and once you sign that first guy why would another #1 TE want to come here to be the #2 guy? And OBW there's only about 5 free agent TE's out there that are even worth talking about, and two of them were on IR this year. Maybe the person who needs to look up his numbers is you
  16. It's one thing to target a 35 YO guy in the last year of his contract who may get you over the top this coming season when you think you can make a deep playoff run. Give up a low round pick to rent the player for the rest of the season. It's another thing to maybe offer a 2 or 3 year contract to a guy his age who is now a free agent looking for the most $$ and can sign where ever he wants.
  17. Glad your not in charge of anything! You let second year #2 pick go who was never expected to be a #1 WR go because he can't preform as the #1 guy (since they don't have anyone else) and a backup TE who's looked decent. While I don't agree I can at least understand the desire to prematurely release Jones, but really can't figure out what Croom has done wrong. So tell me who are the two TE's you plan to sign that will be an immediate marked improvement from Clay and Croom? And how will their salaries compare?
  18. As was pointed out in a number of articles, Clays not a terrible tight end (excluding the pass at the end of the Miami game) he's just a very overpaid TE, however next year his salary is reasonable for the position. If there aren't any better options out there, keep Clay for another year, maybe use a 2nd or a 3rd round pick on a TE to for the following year. Croom also with another year under his belt could be a good #2 TE. It's great to get rid of people, but you have to find a better replacement and also need to look at his salary vs production.
  19. He would be a good fit in that Gruden wants to run the ball, play old school, TT won't turn it over and in Grudens run first offense, not asking much of him. TT is used to playing wit ha weak WR corp so he'd fit in there great.
  20. sounds to me like this stat company bases it only on balls thrown right to the receiver. If the receiver has to make maybe more than 1/2 step to 1 step adjustment, then it's not counted as a drop. The debate as to whether Clay should have caught this pass or not has nothing to do with the way the stats are calculated. You may not agree but it appears that's how they figure it.
  21. Thought he was a champion at Tidldywinks! Is Menza a sport??
  22. The only way could see it happening this off-season if it's someone who's worked with him quite a bit and has this great working relationship with him. Otherwise will take more seasons of being a league leader for him to be noticed.
  23. I'd tend to agree on your time line, lets see what happened under a month ago?? hmmmmm.... wait the Bills cut Benjamin I'm not saying he was any good, but he still was the teams #1 or 1A guy and drew the tougher coverage. Now Zay is likely facing the other teams #1 CB and sometimes probably even double teams. Wouldn't be shocked next week if Foster becomes the WR drawing the tightest coverage. And has also been pointed he belongs in the slot. Think Foster could become a good #2 guy. draft or sign a good WR who if nothing else becomes the #1 WR by default, Foster is #2 then Zay can become full time slot guy and lets see how he looks then. I recall when he was first drafted, was talked about how he'll be a good slot guy, but hardly has had the chance to play there. I'm sure everyone will argue how KB sucked, but Zay was starting to come on right up til they got rid of KB.
