ESPN NFL Playoff Machine (Updated December 22nd)
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to TSNBDSC's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
OK so it's actually called "Strength of Victory" So in the playoff machine I assumed they lost next two games to Falcons and Chargers which is the only option left at this point to end up at 13-3. If they had lost instead today and beat Falcons strength of Victory would have been less and then we could have still got the #1?? -
ESPN NFL Playoff Machine (Updated December 22nd)

so what happened anyway, last week was reading if a 3 way tie, Bills cvould get #1 seed, now heard them say today Chiefs clinched the #1 and this playoff machine website also shows that with a 3 way tie. chiefs still get the #1. Can't figure out what changed. -
Saw an listing of the someones take on greatest backup QB's of all time. Not trying to debate the worthiness of any names on the list or not on the list but what was kind of surprising was out of the 25 names listed five had a connection to some extent with Buffalo. They were: James Harris, Doug Flutie (technically he was the backup) Todd Collins, Frank Reich, and Kelly Holcomb Their stardom as backup didn't necessarily occur when they were with the Bills but other teams. One ex Bill not on the list was Daryle Lamonica though he really didn't do very much as a backup. Another name missing from the list was George Blanda though seemed like whomever came up with this list didn't go back more than about 30 years. Also missing were the combo of Craig Morton and Roger Staubach, though hard there to decide who really was the starter vs backup. Another name on the list was Jeff Kemp, while he never played here, his father certainly did. Scroll down to bottom of page for listing https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/nfl/jimmy-garoppolo-unlikely-to-play-again-this-season-as-qb-faces-uncertain-future/ar-BB1c5w7z?li=BB15ms5q

The Airport Last Night/This Morning

They must have been clear see thru. -
Not sure I'm ready to give Daboll credit for the Statue of Liberty play. We'll likely never know the truth for certain, but I suspect that was something Allen did in practice one day just fooling around. At that point maybe he suggested it to Daboll to somehow work it into a play. At that point, will give Daboll credit for agreeing to make it into a play and to use it.

Predict Josh Allen's Next Contract
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to EmotionallyUnstable's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I selected they pick up the option only because of possible money restrictions this upcoming year with at likely best a flat salary cap. But waiting will likely increase the yearly $$ too by some amount. -
I Eat a small Portion of Knox Crow

On Allens 1st TD run, did I see Knox take out two guys with blocks? -
25 long years ago! I was 40! 😢 😁
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to 60’s Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I was also 40 at the time. -
Think the game has changed too much to compare the two. While Allen certainly is stronger and bigger than Kelly, Allen would have been beat to hell 30 years ago as would his receiver group. Kelly too would hardly be playing today as likely would be out with a concussion every other week. On the other hand maybe not as the defensive team couldn't have touched him at all.
-
I'd certainly place him in the top 5, Mahomes I'd still place at #1 and probably Wilson and Rodgers ahead of him though Rodgers is certainly getting long in the tooth. The one thing Allen still needs to do is show it's sustainable and come back next year and play like this again to prove he's not some type of one year wonder, like Jackson was last year, not that he's terrible, but not nearly as good as last year. Admittedly Allen probably is #1 WRT physical skills which is the one thing that can't be taught and very hard to work on to improve.

Some info on Diggs and Tre Injuries
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to MAJBobby's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Really, where I come from, that usually a good thing. Just ask Robert Kraft! Did you see him when the walked him to the tent? He didn't look like he even knew what city he was in or what day it was. -
Week 15 Bills @ Broncos Postgame Thread

66 points scored by the Bills today, wow that was amazing. Oh wait, I'm counting was it three TD's called back. -

So is there some strange rule in College football. Ohio State called a fair catch on a kickoff, caught it at the 10 yard line, went to commercial and when game resumed first play ball was moved to the 25 yard line. Does a fair catch give the team the ball at the 25 like it was a touch back. To be clear this was kick off,not a punt. I even rewound the game to make sure time was the same, not that a play was missed during commercial or something. -

Well considering he's a free agent anyway, yes he's done. Don't think he'll be one of these they tell to go shop yourself around and come back with the best offer, then we'll talk. Do think he did serve his purpose though early in the season as Epinosa wasn't ready yet, and even Harry inside was still recovering. Even the other new signed players needed some time to learn the system, made worse with no off-season and pre-season. Did he earn his $9 mil worth; NO! In hindsight would they have cut him to save the money, maybe. I wouldn't say it would have been a slam dunk as he did contribute early on. Considering all three are upcoming FA's makes it even easier. I'd imagine all three will make sure they completely clean out their lockers of all personal affects. -
Dawson Knox needs to go....now.

I'm not sure KC's WR group top to bottom is as good as Buffalo's. Watkins is also an upcoming FA so how strong will the group be next year. So they have more a need for the TE -

First off I believe this is 2020 so last year was 2019. Including the draft Knox was selected in, there's only been two drafts, this year and last year. If you don't consider 2019 last year, please tell me what is last year so I can adjust my calendar to agree with yours. Second, when I said the name Kerse, I meant Kittle, my bad So I would put Kittle on the line above with the great ones. Yes please continue your list of decent to good TE's but not great game changers. Maybe some are even game changers on teams that don't have that great of a WR group. If we wanted to have a separate list of TE's with the best physical skills to play TE, I'd again have Gronk, Kelce, and Kittle in that list, but also add Knox while most of those other names on your list wouldn't be there. Considering how rare that it, don't think you want to give up on that so quickly. Knox is still developing, he came from a college offense that didn't use the TE much at all. Will he improve I don't know for certain, but the one thing I do know is that you don't know either. But you are willing to give up on a 3rd round draft pick after 2 seasons. That's the way bad football teams operate. Glad you're not in charge as I'm sure you'd have got rid of Allen last year too as was close to if not dead last in many passing categories. -

Becker is still on the PS? Didn't realize that! He could be the next Lee Smith. They did that last year, they drafted two Knox and Sweeney. And Gilliam this year is playing TE. By drafting one, are you trying to improve the TE position or make it worse? I'm only asking because the likelihood of improving it are pretty low. Take away Kerse, Kelce, and Gronk, how many great TE's are there in the league? Even good ones, only about 1/2 the league have TE's have more receptions than Knox had his rookie year and about3/4 have a TE with more yards than Knox had last season. As Rochesterfan stated, think of Beasley as the TE on the team -

Agree. The other thing to is with the WR group the Bills have, how much is the TE going to be targeted? Like you pointed out, Beasley is basically receiving many of those targets. I think the Bills are just as effective going with 4 WR sets, Diggs, Beasley, Davis, and Brown or even McKenzie while out and take the TE off the field. Other than having someone like Kelce or Kerse, can't imagine that 3 WR and a TE is going to worry the defense that much more. Knox is also good enough that he needs to be accounted for by the defense, they can't ignore him like they could with maybe Smith so he still serves a purpose even if he's more a decoy, the defense still needs to worry about him. It also appears that Smiths role in the offense is increasing as of late so think many here will be disappointed when they don't cut him this off=season. Can see them redoing his contract some maybe take $1/2 Mill or so off next years cap. A guy like that in his role doesn't worry me as much about extending as he's the type that barring some type of huge injury can play for a number more years, kind of has the longevity of an offensive lineman for the most part. On the other hand Kroft is a FA this off season so will be interesting to see what they do there. Do they feel Sweeney or Gilliam is ready to replace him or will they look elsewhere for a mid level FA replacement, maybe again and Olsen type. Can't see them drafting one mid round as they need someone to be able to step in this coming year if needed and not likelty a rookie would be any better than Sweeney. Or do they resign Kroft for a lower $$ amount, though can't imagine he'd be too keen on that idea only to be inactive come Sunday. -
Saturday Night Bills
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to Hapless Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Definitely not happy tonight as game is going up against Clemson ND game. Second game today goes up against SEC championship game so doubt these two NFL games will be ratings winners, plus NFL network only. In fairness colloge championship games should have been played two weeks ago in normal season. -
In fairness the two 13-3 season, the Bills had clinched the #1 overall seed with one or two weeks to go and played mostly subs. That 1990 season, their last game Gail Gilbert played QB and lost to Washington, they didn't even bother going to Reich, in 91 Reich did play the last game and lost to Detroit. If it had mattered, they may have won the last game. The 88 season, recall they cliched the division around Thanksgiving weekend, then went and lost 3 of their last 4 games. I recall if they had won even one of those last four games the AFC championship game would have also been played in Buffalo instead of in Cinni where they lost. They lost to the Bengals 3 times that year, pre-season, regular season, and AFC championship game. Last game this year also could become meaningless, but not very likely as either could be playing for a chance to move up to the #2 seed or with a loss drop to #4. The one way it could become meaningless is if the Bills get flexed to the Sunday night game as all the results are then in. Likely for that same reason would make more sense for the Bills to play the Fish at 4:00 and flex the Pitt-Cleveland game to Sunday night.

Because Az is playing in the late single game on Fox. The idea is to not give all the football fans in the Az area the idea instead of going to the Az game they will stay home and watch the KC- NO game instead. It's the same rational as to why Detroit, Indy, Jax, and Tenn are getting the fox late game instead off 1:00 game as the local team is playing then. PS I am being serious here, not sarcastic in case you were wondering. It is a bit absurd this year as just about every stadium at the least is limiting attendance pretty far.
