The Bills led the league in going 4 WR from scrimmage where as mostly only have one RB on the field on any given play WR's are also subbed in and out after making a long run down the field so I don't think its a stretch at all to see Kumerow playing. Barring a mid game injury, I agree Jones will never play on offense. What I am waiting to see is if this season the Bills decide to keep 3 ACTUAL RB active on gameday (sorry but don't can Jones a real RB) to have the speed factor there when/if needed. That also could factor into not keeping Jones IMO if they deside to make Bierda active on Sundays

I'm not absolutely certain that Addison is better today, but what I am certain of in spite of what many on this board seemed to think, in NFL it's very difficult to trade a 34 YO player, with a big contract, and who didn't do all that much last season. If you look at talent produced per $$ spent, Johnson is likely the better value, but there just isn't much value in cutting Addison as his hit would be close to what he's being paid.

I think if they can't trade anyone on the DL, then could see this happening that they cut him. Think they'd be thrilled if they could trade Addison, but can't se that happening for a guy that old, making that much money, and didn't do a whole lot last season. But if they can trade anyone, then the numbers kind of work to keep him. How's Becker WRT blocking? If he's above average there, then possible instead of Sweeney. But don't want to keep Becker if it means cutting a WR, think I'd prefer 7 WR and 2 TE Johnson Obada, or Addison IMO most likely to be traded or the team wants to trade them. But as I said avove doubt any takers on Addison. The problem with keeping Hart active for week 1, he's been in the league enough years that then his entire salary becomes guaranteed. That's why you'll often see vets who are cut this week not signed until after the first week to avoid that.

Alphas Final Roster Stab (after PS game 3)
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to Alphadawg7's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Not all that sold on Doyle making the 53, they may just take a chance on exposing him to a waiver claim and picking up a better OT someplace. Or he could make the roster on Tuesday, but be gone by Thursday once other teams make their cuts. I think only 5 LB and would put Obada back on the 53 to start with. If Phillips wasn't hurt would cut Butler. Having said that, assuming there is a trade made, then tend to agree a likely name could be Obada in that case maybe they keep 6 LB's though personally I'd prefer they get some CB help instead. The team rarely plays 3LB's on the field so I'd be fine going with 5 To me the two positions that need to be strengthened are backup OT and CB, would be happy to see a pickup there. -
Josh Allen #10 on NFL Top 100
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to Big C's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
OK so he did make the top 100 last season, wasn't aware. A jump from 87 to 10 is still pretty impressive. Considering this year Beasley and T White were ranked in the 90's I have a real hard time justifying Allen at 87 a year ago based on past performance I'm sure I'll get blasted here by all the Bills fans for saying this, but I had a real hard time after 2 seasons seeing him as being well on his way to being a franchise QB. The only reason you could make for that was the Bills had no one in the wings waiting so he was going to be given at least 2 more seasons to try and develop. So yes I guess he was well on his way to being the franchise as there wasn't anyone else, but was a low bar to clear. Fortunately for the team and the fans he's did and more than exceeded. I still recall in the last game of his 2nd season he ended with him taking huge loses on back to back plays completely taking them out of field goal range and attempting a stupid dangerous lateral attempt that fortunately someone batted out of bounds. Yes he showed improvement completing passes in his 2nd season, but still had alot of accuracy issues and until he stopped making those dumb plays, he'd have a hard time being a franchise QB. For the 2020 season he did learn and stopped with the dumb plays and improved much in the accuracy department. He worked hard at it and succeeded and it appears he worked very hard this off season again. But IMO to call him well on his way after season 2 was based mainly on hope and watching him play while wearing rose colored Bills glasses. -
KR/PR duties— how will this turn out?
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to Miyagi-Do Karate's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
At this point McKenzie brings more to offense than Stevenson does so think he get the job and Stevenson is inactive most Sundays barring injury to someone else Think it's also why they keep 7 WR as McKenzie's snap count on offense may go down if returning. Can't see him playing say on 1st down after just returning a KO, plus may be more cautious to avoid injury exposure. -
Agree in the NFL trades aren't made for players that old, making that much money, and most importantly didn't play that well last season. If he 9 sacks last season likely a different story. Maybe if the Bills throw in someone else like a Kumerow, they agree to take Addison's salary, but likely then needs to be to a non-contending team. I would love to be a mind reader though to know if Beane had known he was going to draft two DE's in first two rounds, would he have signed Addison to the updated contract. I'd think not, but will never know for certain.

Diggs was a 5th round pick and many other super star WR have been drafted lower, stat wise Diggs rookie year wasn't much better than Davis, so anything is possible. Also think Davis Beasley and Sanders will tend to more split the reps between #2 and slot with Sanders playing many snaps in both positions, thus allowing Davis then to play the #2 role. Can see McKenzie's snaps as a WR decreasing IF he is the return guy. Would they put him on the field the first play after returning a KO 35 yards, maybe not as often. For similar reason could see them going with Stevenson as the return guy instead. Think they'd get more out of both of them overall as return guy and WR than they did Roberts last 2 years. The way Allen completes passes, less return yards is OK in lieu of better WR play.

OK so here's a comment from McD in the BN (I guess I also missed the play) Mitchell Trubisky came in for one play and he handed it off to Kerrith Whyte, which McDermott said was by design in case a similar situation came up in the regular season. So what exact situation were they working on?? I don't get it?? What did this accomplish?? Does this guarantee Super Bowl??

Josh Allen #10 on NFL Top 100
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to Big C's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Admittedly I was surprised, I'd have thought he'd have been higher but;..... Allen is a one year franchise QB at this point. Most of these others all have longer and stronger resumes. There is still some skepticism on Allen, he goes out and have a season in 2021 like 2020, that will all go away. I'm sure there are some who'd argue that after what they saw the first two seasons from Allen, they just can't vote him top 5 or so compared to others and it's a somewhat legit argument. It's kind of like making the Pro Bowl, it quickly becomes a lifetime achievement award and Allen needs more than one great year to knock those guys down. Did Allen even make the top 100 last season, I'm guessing not, so to go from not on the list to top 10 in one season is pretty amazing in itself. Are there any other players in the top 10 who'd never made the list before? Even the top 20? -
GAME BALLS - Packers v. Bills, 08/28/21
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to Freddie's Dead's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Fromm did impress, Really can't fault Webb though as last two weeks, particularly today, he wasn't put in the best spot. But that may because they know what they have with him so not worrying about it. Plus if he looks bad enough, not likely to be grabbed by another team. On the other hand Fromm did look good enough that if the Bills cut him, think he'd get signed by someone else. I really doubt they carry thee active QB's on the 53 so wonder if they'd try and trade him if they can get something back. -
I'm also doing the hat trick What did you think of the announcers though? The Bears guys were OK, at least they for the most part gave the name of the bills players who made the play, mentioned subs and knew something about the team. The Lions guys, barely even mentioned the Bills players. Wonder how out of town Packer fans will view the Bills announcers as I'm assuming the Bills crew will be doing the NFL network broadcast today. On a somewhat related note anyone know what Buffalo station is carrying the game today? By any chance is it the local CBS? Asking as I have CBS all access and want to see if I can view that through this VPN spoofing thing. It did work during the Olympics as allowed me to watch something live via Canadian broadcast network.
