  1. No actually, that's not it at all. Most people believe that the Saints fed Glazer disinformation. I have no doubt what Glazer reported is what what the Saints told him. I think that the saints are the liars here, and this is nothing but sour grapes because Lynch steamrolled their asses out of the playoffs. If the Saints wanted him that bad, they would have called and offered their 3rd, which they didn't. Thats how making an offer works. If you're going to buy a house, you actually have to make an offer. You can't simply tell the seller/retailer to accept other offers but to call you at the very end and you'll beat it. You actually have to make an offer.
  2. Technically yes, but for all intents and purposes, no. The CBA expires on March 3rd, and without a new CBA in place, there will be no free agency, as well as no player for player or player for pick trading. The 6 year rule was only put in place for this year's "no cap" season. You can be sure that when a new CBA is agreed upon, and player movement resumes, the time until a player hits UFA status will be back to the normal 4 years, or possibly even less.
  3. You probably could have cleaned house in Vegas by betting that the Seahawks would be the only higher seed to advance this weekend.
  4. I cann BS. Not on Glazer, but on what the Saints told him. They probably decided they would have given up a 3rd rounder later on in the season. The Saints calling the Bills and saying "we're interested in Lynch" is completely different than them calling the Bills and saying "we'll give you a 3rd for Lynch." I'm guessing they said the former back in september, and the latter was sour grapes after Lynch ran over their asses to seal the game.
  5. Kyle Williams is a top 5 DT in the league. No questions about it. He'd start on each and every other team in the league.
  6. Enjoying a mid-afternoon snack of paint chips, are we?
  7. Florence had a lot fo penalties this season and his overall play regressed from 2009. People are simply wowed by him because he got luckey enough to score a couple of TDs. He's as good as gone anyways. During locker clean out he said he's excited about being a FA and he's "open to returning" which means he's getting the hell out of here ASAP.
  8. I also believe that in exchange for a rookie cap, the NFLPA wantsd shorter rookie deals, in the 3-4 year range. This way the players that play great can be up for their first big contract sooner.
  9. I've missed a few days, but we've had Grilled marinated prok chops the other night, and yesterday was sausage pasta with bowties, peas, and homemade alfredo sauce. Tonight we're going out to Cabo's, a great little joint around here, and i'm having a tough time deciding between their famous Cabos burger, or their crab-cake burger.
  10. It was right after he turned gatorade on the sidelines into wine.
  11. No, it makes perfect sense. The 2011 draft will happen regardless if a new CBA is in place or not. If there is no CBA, none of the 2011 rookies will sign until a new CBA is agreed upon. And the new CBA will have a rookie cap.
  12. Just an FYI, LaCanfora was on the Rich Eisen show, and said that a rookie cap would be in place for the 2011 rookie class. He was discussing Luck (prior to luck staying at school) and said that Carolina would save 50 million taking Luck #1 in this year's draft as opposed to Bradford and Stafford in previous seasons because a rookie cap structure will be in play for this year's crop of rookies.
  13. Wouldn't be easier to go back to school after a career ending knee injury with 70 mil in your pocket, as opposed to suffering that knee injury in college before you cash in?
  14. Yeah, because its not as if Luck could go back to Stanford when his playing days are over or anything.
  15. No biggie. Chances are that either Bowers or Fairley will fall to us, and if not, there's always Dareus.
  16. Well said. 90% of the board wanted to rid the team of the tampa-2 back in 2009, and almost everyone wanted the 3-4. We switch to the 3-4, but now no one wants to give it time to make the transition and acquire the appropriate players.
  17. Safest pick in the draft is probably Patrick Peterson.
  18. The biggest problem with that scenario is that NE* is sitting ahead of us with the first pick in round 2, and we all know how they love to wheel and deal. If Mallet falls out of round 1 (which he won't, he'll be gone in the top 12), he'll never make it past pick 33.
  19. Just so you guys know, walterfootball has had a vendetta out against Mallet all season long, for no certifiable reason. The loser who runs that site also claimed that Jimmy Clausen was the best QB in last year's draft and should have been taken ahead of Bradford.
  20. Troup is plenty big enough to run the nose. He's what, 320 or so? You don't need a 350 lb pile of goo just to clog the middle in order to be good. A guy Troup's size with good technique who can anchor is what you need. If you can find a 350 lber with talent, you take him, but to think a 3-4 can't be successful without one is nuts. A handful of teams run the 3-4 without a monster in the middle and have been successful. Ratliff is a great 3-4 NT in Dallas and he goes about 310. Not to mention the fact that if you're just chasing fat guys, you're going to have to pull them off the field during nickel and dime situations, which is probably over 60% of the snaps. I'll take a guy like Troup who has the potential to still be on the field as a 4-3 DT when those packages are run. The notion that you need players to be X size so they can play Y position in a specific defense is ridiculous. Get players that can play, and don't concern yourself on whether or not they are the cookie cutter size/shape to play a position.
  21. I was at the finale that year when the Bengals were at the Ralph. The entire stadium was cheering for TKO.
  22. Sounds like a lots of other FAs or players who think Buffalo is a wasteland, but then come to really like it once they spend some time there.
  23. Ralph is cheap.
  24. You can't pin the previous 10 years of futility on this year's coaching staff. Like it or not, Gailey has simply gone 1 season (the first of a re-build) without making the playoffs, not 10. I dont care if it was 50 years without playoffs, when a new coach/staff comes in, they get a clean slate. My point was also that the Buccs didnt turn it around until year 2. We just finished year 1.
  25. Just for some perspective, about a year ago, all i heard down here was how the Buccs (coming off a 3-13 record in Morris' and Dominik's 1st season and picking 3rd) sucked and Morris should be fired and he was the wrong guy and the Buccs weren't getting any better and were going to win 2 games in 2010, all despite the fact that the Buccs looked markedly better in the seasons second half then they did in the first half. Someone please tell me how they fared this season?
