  1. Everyone knows the most sure fire way to success is to repeatedly fire your coordinators year in and year out until you win the super bowl. Then keep those guys. I'm surprised Chan doesn't know this.
  2. Polian didn't "build the trenches early" in indy. He started off with Manning, and has taken exactly 1.5 lineman (on either side, with Hughes last season as the 0.5 since he's a DE/OLB) in round 1 in his tenure in Indy. Crusade all you want, but don't ignore the plain fact that Bill Polian spends his 1st round picks on skill players.
  3. Who pray tell, did polian draft in 1990 and 1991 in the first round? You're barking up the wrong tree with polian, as he has a clear track record of spending high picks on skill positions like CB, WR, and RB. The problem hasn't been drafting position X in round 1. The problem has been not picking good players. Picking a bad OL in round one is going to "set the franchise back" as much as picking a bad CB.
  4. Jacory Harris is a DBs best friend.
  5. I heard a rumor that not only is Luck staying in school, but he's transferring to Maryland so he can play for Mike Leach.
  6. And do you honestly think that any Rooney candidate has ever been hired? I guarantee you that every black HC ever hired was a target by the particular owner/team because they were a good candidate, NOT because they got a token interview and wowed the team.
  7. Correlation != causation
  8. Edwards isn't going anywhere, not this offseason.
  9. Last night for dinner was French Dip Sammiches with monkey jack cheese, seasoned/roasted potatoes and sugar snap peas. That was after wings at the bar for the game. Tonight is homemade meatballs (one of the benefits of an italian heritage girlfriend)
  10. In other news, Steve Spurrier is still FSU's B word.
  11. Agreed. The NFL is a multi billion dollar industry. There's simply no way that owners are not aware of up and coming black HC candidates.
  12. You really think there are no trade talks and discussion until the final 10 minutes when a team is on the clock?
  13. Yeah Tomlin was. He steadily rose through the ranks from being a DB coach on the Buccs to Vikes DC, and had also interviewed for the fins HC job (they hired Cam Cameron instead). Plus Tomlin had the Tony Dungy coaching pedigree, so franchises around the league were well aware of him.
  14. You have yet to explain why what the Cowboys did was any different than what the Vikings did. There is exactly zero difference between the two clubs and the candidates they would like to hire. The rule forces them to go through the stupid worthless song and dance, instead of just hiring the guy they want, like the Vikes did.
  15. The Cowboys aren't doing anything the Vikings aren't. Both teams liked what they got from their interim coaches and decided to stick with them. Happens a lot in the real world. The only reason minny gets a pass is because Frasier is black. The rule now makes the cowboys go through a bogus interview which is insulting and a waste of time to both them and their interviewee (from what i read, their WR coach is black so he'll get the token interview). As Bluefire said, wins matter, not skin color. There are plenty of black coaches in the NFL and plenty more have gotten interviews based on their credentials, not skin color. The rule is largely obsolete. Want to know where a Rooney rule is needed? Take a look at college ball.
  16. Can't they nail the kids for reckless endangerment by building the snowman in the road? Either nail both parties or let both walk.
  17. You do realize that a lot of teams with winning records bottomed out before improving. For example, tampa went from 9-7 to 3-13 in Morris' and Dominik's first season. Then they added talent through the draft and improved to 10 wins. As far as i'm concerned, we've bottomed out, like those teams did, so now its time to improve.
  18. So your point is that we can go from 4-12 in 2010 to first in 2011? Sounds good to me.
  19. Didn't sully claim Merrman would never sign with the Bills, right after he went on IR?
  20. If they expand the season (which would be stupid beyond belief) the NFL would need to implement a DL system like baseball. Season ending IR sucks, especially if a player could come back. They can still have season ending IR, but they should also adopt a 4 game DL and an 8 game DL, so if a guy is hurt for a month or 2, you can bring up a warm body, but aren't penalized by forcing him to sit out a year.
  21. How about we simply draft guys that can flat out play football, instead of passing on top talent simply because it might not fit the cookie-cutter shize/shape we want for a certain position?
  22. Found this interesting...
  23. Lee Evans has been more productive throughout his career than Ry Williams. We're better off keeping what we have.
  24. Just for reference, walterfootball was the one draft blog last year claiming that Jimmy Clausen should be taken #1 over Bradford and was the best QB in the draft class.
  25. The only mistake the guy made was not popping the kid in the face.
