If you have a cold one in one hand and a joint in the other, how are you going to tickle his balls?

I swear, some people form a single opinin of a player and then stick with that opinion no matter what gets done of the field. Every knock against KW in this (and other) threads, he's done this season. He's gotten to the QB. He's stuffed the run. He's blown plays up in the backfield countless times. He's chased down plays from behind. He's batted passes and created turnovers. He gets double teamed on almost every play. The guy is a terror on the field. So yes, Kyle Williams really is that good. Some of you are so caught up on an exact build for a position that you think that if someone isn't X tall or weighs Y pounds, he's not top-notch or can't/won't playat a high level. The guy is one of the top 5 DTs in the league, no matter what the pro-bowl popularity contest says. Give me 1 Kyle Williams-type player at each level on defense (DL, LB, DB) and you will have one of the best Ds in the league.

Nope. the pro bowl is for individuals who have had a great season, regardless of how their team has performed. The playoffs are the reward for the best team. the pro bowl is supposedly for the best individual players. The best individual players in the league aren't necessarily on the best team, and the best team doesn't necessarily have all the best players.
-
This may be a difficult concept to grasp, but the pro bowl is an individual honor, and even teams that suck still have good players. Kyle Williams has had a hell of a year regardless of what the Bills record is.

If the Jets pull their starters, shouldn't the Bills...

Mendenhall played for pittsburgh in the Bledsoe game in 2004 despite only being in high school at that point? You're thinking of Willie Parker. -

I'm just saying that more likely than not, the 2011 rookies will be subject to a rookie cap when they sign. So it debunks your theory of "Wilson wants the Bills to beat the Jets so he can save some money on a 1st round pick." -
Do we actually have any Pro Bowl players?
Ramius replied to Dorkington's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
As was mentioned above, the "pro bowl" label has become quite a bit of a joke. Its more about name recognition and popularity than actual performance. Hell, on the NFL network, charles davis said that Chris Johnson should make the pro bowl simply because he rushed for 2000 yards last season. The better question to assess talent would be to ask, how many players on this team do we have that are in the top 5 in the league at their position, and top 10, etc. Kyle Williams is a top 5 DT, no questions asked. Stevie Johnson is having a top 10 season at WR this year. He arguably deserves to be included in any pro bowl discussion for the AFC. Whether he can keep it up over the long haul remains to be seen. -
Perhaps that indictment of Cam Thomas's ability rather than front office ineptitude. The fact that he fell to the 5th roudn tells us that the majority of draft "experts" were wrong in their assessment of him.

And if there's a new CBA in place before this year's round of rookies are signed (which there will be) that includes a rookie cap (which it will), your entire conspiracy theory is a moot point. -
You're wrong, he was a teen movie star. He had that horror film in the late 90's where those kids were camping in the woods - the Blair White Project.

When it comes to leadership, Freeman is mature way beyond his age. The way he runs the team and commands the huddle is amazing. Tampa's got a very young team and he's grabbed them firmly by the reigns and taken control of everything. That's something that can't be understated and can't be measured. The sick thing is that Freeman has only thrown 6 INTs this year to 23 TDs.
-
So he willed Matt Schaub to throw the game ending pick when the texans were in what would have been a game winning FG range?
-
You assume: a) the coaches know that Wilson/Scott are better, but play Whitner for what reason? They have no vested interest in him. or b)the fans know more, which is laughable. But hey, it must be nice to live in your world where the only reason the Bills are worse on D is because Whitner is playing more. What about Arthur Moats? Using your simplistic analysis, the Bills defense is worse because of him. He's played more in 2010 than he played in 2009.

I understand teams run propaganda machines

Blue, this is twobillsdrive. The previous sunday's game is the only one that matters. -
You seriously think that the reason for the dropoff from 2009 to 2010 is Whitner playing more? I guess it has nothing to do with the fact that we got new coaches, completely switched defenses that require all personnel, and lost our best pass rusher.
-
If the Bills cut Donte Whitner, the penny auction sites will allow free bids from then on.
-
So are Scott's tackles worth more than Whitner's? Because all season people that have pointed to Whitner's high tackle totals have been dismissed. Whitner is the best, most versatile safety we've got. As for last year, we don't plat the tampon-2 defense anymore. Whitner is better in our current defense than anyone else. Wilson and Scott are both too one-dimensional.
-
He completed barely 50% of his passes against one of the worst pass defenses in the league. And all of this "he just wins" nonsense would be all that if Schaub hadn't been picked in field goal range. Oh wait, lemme guess...tebow "willed" the defender to pick off Schaub so the broncos could win.

For starters, as was mentioned, he's been starting all season long. This coaching staff has demonstrated that they aren't going to keep a weaker player on the field. They benched/cut Edwards. They cut Cornell Green. They benched Maybin. Stevie Johnson got benched after a couple of games. If they honestly thought one of the other safeties were better, Wilson or Scott would be starting. But they aren't. As for play, Wilson and Scott are too one-dimensional. Scott of an in-the-box extra LB type of safety. Wilson is a strictly roaming coverage safety. Neither of they have the ability and flexibility of Whitner (which he has demonstrated by playing every position in the secondary at some point during his career here). Whitner is in on almost every single play. Watch the guy. He's simply all over the field. He constantly in the pile making tackles in the run game, he's all over the field in coverage on WRs, TEs, and RBs. Lots of times, he's covering for someone else's blown assignment, such as an LB that can't keep up with a TE, or for Byrd who has had a horrific year. Whitner isn't an elite safety. But he's a good one. And its foolish to let him go and create another hole in an already porous defense. Think about this. Would you rather overpay a bit to keep a good player and have the draft pick to use on the front 7 or OL? Or let him go so then we have to look elsewhere to replace him and waste a pick in effort to try and replace him?
-
Not sure, but you seem to have an odd fascination with those 2. That being said, congrats! After 4,630 absolutely worthless posts stating nothing other than "the bills suck, der, smithers, der, ralph in senile, der" you've actually posted something different. Perhaps after a few correspondence courses you'll actually be able to make a valid point about something!
-
No, thats what Jairus Byrd sleeps on. And he had 9 INTs last season, so he's awesome this year, no matter what you see on the field.
-
Manning has been a backup for most of his career, so the trade is esentially a wash. As for the '08 draft, i didn't want the Bills to draft Devin Thomas. Not sure where you pulled that from. Saying the Bills need a WR and should draft one isn't the same as saying they should draft player X. Regarding your "Bills-related assessments," I can't find any others because all you do with every post is crusade about how you think Donte Whitner sucks
-
Agreed. Too many people are hung up on how a player plays relative to their draft position, not on their actual talent. We could get the same production out of Freddie J, but if he was a round 2 pick, he'd have been strung up by now. We should have drafted Ngata instead of Whitner. Everyone agrees on that. But that should have no bearing on the decision to re-sign him now or evaluating his play now.
-
Since we're being intellectually honest here, we should bring up that dawgg was a huge proponent of Dusty Dvorcek at DT as the savior to all the Bills woes. Dusty is no longer in the league and is rocking it it UFL-style.
-
That has no bearing on draft position. Tied records are broken by strength of schedule.
