The quarterback of the future
Ramius replied to Just in Atlanta's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yeah. (Peyton Manning) Many (Eli Manning) of (Drew Brees) the (Ben Rapelisberger) league's (Philip Rivers) top (Aaron Rodgers) QBs (Matt Ryan) were (Josh Freeman) lower (Jay Cutler) round (Joe Flacco) picks, (Brett Favre) and (Sam Bradford) most (Matt Stafford) top picks fail. -
Maybin has played nearly 2 full seasons and still can't crack the lineup for more than 4-5 plays per game. Carrington and Troup have seen significant time this season as rookies, especially in the second half of the season, and have been making more and more plays as the year goes on. I'm not surprised that you can't pick up on the differences. That would require thought, and we wouldn't want you to hurt yourself by attempting to think for once.

Sure you're getting them confused with Timothy Daltrey who played James Bond?
-
My point is that Whitner is the better safety than Wilson. He may not be more cost efficient, but on an absolute sense, he's a better safety. How was Whitner's rookie deal the richest in team history? What about the Moulds extension, and the Mike Williams deals. Both of those were more than Donte's, and William's had to be more than his on a per year basis. Not to mention that rookie deals are loaded with incentives and escalator clauses, so how much was Whitner really getting paid?

If George Wilson or Jairus Byrd had been in coverage it would have been the front 7's fault.

BillsVet does nothing but whine and B word about each and every single move the Bills make. If he has any intelligence, he certainly doesn't display it on here. So which way is it? Take our lumps and build the correct way, or do a rush job in a piss poor effort to win now? You can't have it both ways. I dont care what happened in the previous 10 years. Just because we've been bad for long does NOT mean that the new guys have to get us to the playoffs in year 1 or its a bust. When you start over, you start over, period. The counter gets reset to 0. And spare me the miami example, because parcells "rebuilding" down there was garbage. They snuck into the playoffs one season and have been spinning their wheels ever since. That team is no closer to winning the super bowl than we are. No fan has to be satisfied with this season. However, there are positives that can be taken from this year. Many choose to ignore these in favor of complaining. I guess thats easier. I do find it amusing that so many on here predicted the Bills to do poorly this season, and now that we are actually doing poorly, everyone is freaking out.

The fact you lump Carrington and Troup in with Maybin just confirms the fact that you really have no clue what you're talking about when it comes to football. Unless it's defending your beloved patsies*.

I'll be eating nothing but lentils in 2011

He didn't say army, he said it was his typical trip. I've been on plenty of backpacking trips (from 2 days to 2 weeks) in all kinds of weather, and have never had the problems Jim has. A little prep work goes a long way. -
Some thoughts as the season winds down
Ramius replied to jahnyc's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Wilson has been playing the FS spot, so people should compare him to Byrd (who has been so unbelieveably bad this season, yet people are blinded because he made peyton hillis fumble). Wilson would get chewed up and swallowed at the SS spot. Wilson is a good depth player and spot starter, but if you're relying on him to start 16 games, you're in trouble. -
Not exactly. The author is stupidly assuming that all of the 5-win teams will lose next week. If we win we could drop as far as 9, but we wont automatically drop that far with a win.

If that's a typical trip, you suck at backpacking. -
Expecting a new GM/coach to turn things around in 1 season because previous seasons have been bad is asinine. No surprise you subscribe to that theory. I find it odd how you complain that you supposedly want the Bills to re-build the correct way, yet then you B word about how they need to win now. Seems to me like you just want to whine and B word no matter what situation.

Good to know all we need to do is get rid of Poz and Whitner and our D will vault into the top 10.

Way to stay classy with #1. Fans wonder why players hate them? #1 is a perfect example of why.

Just a thought to remember as well...the $5 million per year average salary is essentially meaningless until we see the guarantees being offered. It could be those parameters that are a sticking point. 6 years and $30 million with $20 being guaranteed is much better than 6 years and $42 million with only 15 being guaranteed.

Merry Christmas, Millbank! May your new year be filled with prosperity, joy, and a boatload of leafs losses!

This is the truth. If Freddie Jackson was a 1st-2nd round pick and had the same production, most of the board would be focused on running him out of town.
-
So to people who send text messages, or send emails, or post on facebook, or post on a message board lack professionalism and maturity? They (along with twitter) are all current forms of communication that nearly everyone uses on a daily basis. As to your last sentence, in your other post, you insinuated that twittering was preventing Whitner from becoming a better player. This also begs the question: who is more immature, the person who twitters, or the person who hangs on every tweet of someone they don't even know and gets so riled up over it that they freak out on an online message board? While your point regarding the contract year is a valid one, he's also playing in a completely new defense this season, one that suits his strengths, which would have a much bigger effect on his play than being in a contract year will.
-
Please enlighten me on how someone twittering prevents them from studying film, working out, practicing hard, etc. Donte is well known for how much effort he puts into preparing for the games.

Davis was a 7th rounder. Its not like Shanny had this ultimate plan to nab Davis late in the draft in his effort to win the SB.
-
Please don't get Holcombs arm started on regression, for everyone's sake. Regarding Fitz, i tend to agree with you coach. He'd be treated so much differently if we look at him as a rookie drafted in 2008, and then use that as his the start of career trendline. (Since he played almost none during his 1st 3 seasons). To me, Fitz has started barely over 2 seasons worth of games. And, since he began starting consistently, he's steadily improved. I think the odds are much greater than Fitz gets better versus his returning to the way he played in cincy. I'm not to pass on a QB if you think he's the ultimate guy. But with the way Fitz has played, we don't need to burn a high pick on someone who we aren't sold on. Personally, i'd rather draft someone like Ponder in the 3rd or 4th (who'd be an absolute steal at that point) and let him develop over the course of a few years, and let him compete with Brohm for the backup spot (or eventual starter down the road if Fitz doesn't pan out)
-
Shanny's ego gets in the way, and it has spread to his kid. Kyle is supposed to be a boy genius according to daddy, but frankly, he's just not a very good OC. Looking at back Devner, i feel like i can say this without a doubt: Denver does NOT win those 2 SBs without Elway. Denver does NOT win those 2 SBs without Davis. Denver DOES wins those 2 SBs without Shanny.

Team's gonna go to the highest bidder. Since we can't do anything about it, not really much point in worrying about it.

Just for the record, i reserve the right to laugh my ass off at you for being an idiot when you kill yourself. -
The only place were Whitner is a "polarizing figure" in here on the boards. Just because a large numbers of posters have an irrational hatred toward him doesn't mean that anyone else on the team or around the NFL does.
