Fair enough about the Eagles, plenty of their moves fail, but at least they are constantly trying to improve the top and bottom of their roster in creative ways. I assume you’re not putting Poyer and Hyde on Beane’s track record, because if so that would be generous.

FTR I’m ok with the Carter pick. The process was sound - that’s the going rate for a 1T and it’s better than overpaying for one in free agency. I never liked the player (pretty sure I predicted bust at the time) but I can forgive a swing and miss there. It’s the pro personnel garbage I am really getting fed up with. This is the “idea” Beane’s pro personnel scouts are bringing to him in late August? The same guy they’ve signed over and over again? These guys are clowns when it comes to pro personnel scouting, they completely suck at it.

I am admittedly jealous of the Eagles who have an active, cutting-edge, first-class pro personnel department making a slew of trades at the waiver deadline in an effort to upgrade depth. Versus Beane’s guys who clearly have run out of new ideas and cannot help but squander their remaining cap dollars on over the hill defensive linemen every single freakin’ year. These small differences often make big differences late in the season.

Beane’s exes probably have to block his number.

Really? He looked borderline useless last year.

Dewayne Carter played deep into the game last night. Now, it's possible they're just testing him at both interior DL spots and wanted to get extended looks at that, but it's also possible his job is in jeopardy. He'd probably be a trade candidate as opposed to an outright release, but it's clear he has a lot of work to do to carve out a regular role for himself on this team.

They may PUP Samuel to start the season, keep Moore for that stretch at least, and see how things develop.

Safety is far and away the worst position group on the roster. They have to fix it, quick. It’s a disaster.

I don't think it's that, I think it's about his health. If he holds up the entire season I could see them offering him a market contract to stay another 3 years. If he doesn't, he'll have to decide what's best for his career and might end up taking less to stay put.

The analysis should be on Pegula not McD. Look at Terry's comments in HK Ep. 1: "Hire competent people and then trust them to do their jobs." Look at Kevyn Adams' tenure. McD isn't going anywhere.
