Jags listening to trade calls for Brian Thomas
Coach Tuesday replied to DJB's topic in The Stadium Wall
This doesn’t fully surprise me after watching their last few games. Something is (again) off there. Lawrence is obviously a weirdo, he and Coen possibly hate each other, but regardless, BJT seems to be an odd fit in the new offense. Coen doesn’t seem to feature him, and he’s dropping balls and looking totally out of sync. It’s weird. Last year he played like a vet and this year he looks like a rookie. Still would be insane of them to trade him but if the door is open at all, Beane needs to bust it down. -
Doubt we see him again unless things somehow get even worse back there.

Joe Marino's 9 point plan for improvement

Rapp's regression has been the single biggest factor in the defense's struggles IMO. He has been TERRIBLE. -
Joe Marino's 9 point plan for improvement

They have built an offense which prioritizes protecting their defense over scoring points. The entire architecture of the football operation at OBD is designed around protecting and supporting Sean’s flailing defense. It’s borderline insane. -
Has this been confirmed?

Plausible X/#1 receiver trade candidates — are there any?
Coach Tuesday replied to dave mcbride's topic in The Stadium Wall
If I had to pin it on one thing it’s the fact that they don’t seem to have had ANY backup plan at X in the event Keon wasn’t ready - and he clearly isn’t. And now it’s almost Halloween and there is no other option on the entire roster somehow. -
It means comedy has been fully democratized.

I am the biggest Josh Allen homer in the world. He is my favorite athlete to root for, ever. I am considering getting a 17 tattoo. That said - the past few games (New Orleans included), it has been hard not to notice the dissonance between all of the commercials and media attention he is featured in, and his inability to execute basic handoffs and diagnose blitzes properly. His mechanics and throws have been mostly fine, he’s still elite, but yet - the details have been off, and one inevitably starts to wonder about his focus. But you could also say the same thing about the o line and offense as a whole - they just seem distracted and complacent, which they can’t afford to be given their lack of talent at WR and lack of a true innovator at OC. They have some big games coming up and it’ll be interesting to see whether they start to get it together and clean up the pre-snap nonsense. Because that to me tells me where their level of focus is.

I mean he’s already proven that he’s letting what people say about him online and on a.m. radio get to him - so it’s far from a stretch. -

You would hope he feels enough job security to make a move and take the flak. If he is true class he’ll go back on the same show after his trading and let them decide his punishment. As far as Terry goes, Beane can probably blame this on Palmer’s injury and Keon’s slow development and he has enough political capital accumulated to have few questions asked. -

Still hoping he puts it together. @BADOLBILZ (come back!) has pointed out that Keon is similar in traits to Devante Adams who had a meh rookie year and then such a bad second year (1 TD) that he was trending towards bust territory. He put it all together in year 3. Keon has the ability, he may just be a slower developer. But they clearly banked on him far too much for 2025 - Bishop too. And Carter in the 3rd round that year - oof. The 2024 draft was a DISASTER. -

I doubt they still love Rapp after the last few weeks of tape. His angles and technique and recognition and communication have been horrendous. -
He was getting clobbered by pressure in his face and he made that throw falling backwards without fully seeing where he was throwing it. And he still made a pinpoint throw that an alpha receiver should catch (and a receiver getting paid what Shakir is). This is what folks mean when they say we've become spoiled.

It is pretty clear at this point that Beane heads into the draft like I head into the supermarket - with a specific wish list. He goes hunting for specific positions with specific traits to plug specific holes on the roster, and will talk himself into questionable prospects who "almost fit" what he's looking for. As opposed to just amassing talent regardless of need or immediate fit. "We need a run stuffing DT, Dewayne Carter is close enough and hey we'll coach him up." "We need a boundary corner, McDuffie is off the board, Elam works." "We need a contested catch specialist, Keon played basketball, we'll coach him up." Etc. It's the root of his drafting issues and the irony of it is, at the end of the day he doesn't end up improving the roster enough using the draft.

Reading between the lines of the postgame pressers, the prevailing theory inside OBD seems to be that Josh got rattled by the Falcons' stunts and pressures at the beginning of the game and it affected him throughout. McD on Tuesday basically said "that's exactly what we try to do to the other teams' QBs - throw them off early and then it affects them the whole game." I.e., that Allen lost confidence in his line and his ability to understand the pressure concepts moreso than in his WRs. Not saying this is true or false just that it seems to be the narrative that's being put out there.
