  1. No, that's misdirection. The OP posted about the content of the article. You immediately chimed in with a troll-post about the author. You're admitting you haven't read the article. I don't think that's productive, and that's my opinion. And I also find it ironic (I know you would say that it's "fitting") that your issue with him is that he provocatively takes shots at people without providing substance.
  2. IDK how you can accuse him of hiding behind a paywall (it’s his livelihood - if he joined “Big Media” the hordes here would dismiss him on that basis instead), and he’s literally putting his name on a piece accusing Caleb of being a coach-killer who may have dyslexia and refuses to hear criticism, and accusing Poles of being an unqualified autocrat who concealed critical information from his coaching staff about the most important player on the roster. Dunne is signing his own name to all of that and he’ll have to deal with the consequences. As opposed to someone hiding behind a message board screen name saying all kinds of things about the messenger. Again, I’m not pro-Dunne. I thought his hit on McD was petty and weak but to his credit he went and sat down with Beane and McD and that had to have been awkward, but he did his job and I found him somewhat (but not enough) contrite about his previous writing. But what kills me is view around here that and in society that killing the messenger is the right response to a message you don’t like. And folks coming on here basically saying “I haven’t read this and shouldn’t have to but I’m sure it sucks” how is that contributing to the discourse in any productive way? It’s just troll behavior being legitimized.
  3. Yeah I totally completely disagree with you. I thought his hit piece on McD was cheap because what was the big reveal? That a young coach gets nervous under pressure? So what? But this piece goes way deeper and many of Dunne’s other longform pieces do too. Attacking the speaker as a quick way to kill the speech (and avoid having to engage with its content - or even read it), is very 2025, I get it, we’re a society of Twitter trolls now, but I’m not signing up for it. Please point those out so we can have a discussion about them, Andy.
  4. I would encourage anyone who is interested to actually read Dunne’s longform piece in its entirety. He details his extensive sources. The piece is fascinating. Very juicy to say that Caleb has dyslexia and Poles didn’t tell his coaches.
  5. Have you ever signed a lease? It was heavily subsidized, not free.
  6. Um based on WHAT? The pre-New Deal era in the U.S. was know for some pretty depraved corporate behavior. The East India Company of Britain subjugated entire populations. Ever hear about the Banana Massacre? Chiquita is still selling its wares today!
  7. I can tell you with certainty that IP companies spend tens of millions of dollars on digital encryption and security, plus tens of millions more on updating their content more frequently because of theft. These costs get passed on. Just because they don’t immediately (or ever) lower their prices in response to enforcement steps doesn’t mean there are no real financial costs associated with free unlimited distribution of copyrighted IP.
  8. Let me get this straight - the NFL and sports media companies are INHERENTLY EVIL and anyone who doesn’t agree with that obvious point are dense trolls? INHERENTLY EVIL?? Again we are talking about ENTERTAINMENT companies. They aren’t even purporting to sell basic needs. They are a universe removed from, say, an HMO. They are evil for selling a luxury product for more money than you think it's worth? Evil??? INHERENTLY EVIL! And btw how much money do you personally spend to help prop up these INHERENTLY EVIL entities? Aren’t you complicit in the evil if you know what you’re supporting?
  9. Oh I agree with that too. It's a monopoly propped up by taxpayers. But you know who can do something about that if they want to? Your elected representatives... By viewing? No criminal laws but definitely civil copyright laws. By facilitating, hosting, etc.? Several big criminal ones.
  10. I mean, fair question, but the slope is beyond slippery. Who gets to decide which laws to follow? Without totally derailing this thread (but since a Mod asked the question), it's wild to me that many of the same people in this thread who are defending this particular law-breaking are, in other parts of this very website, defending giving the maximum punishment (and beyond) to sandwich-throwers and illegal border-crossers because "they broke the law and there needs to be consequences." I mean, who gets to decide these things? Once everyone gets to decide what laws they will and will not follow, civil society is basically over. And maybe that's where we are - Luigi Mangione certainly thinks so.
  11. I mean sure if you just want to pretend intellectual property doesn't exist in the world as an asset. I guess it's not backed by gold so...
  12. Again, whatever folks need to tell themselves to justify STEALING, good for them. If you don't think that consumers are footing the bill for enhanced security measures, subscription bleed, etc., you're totally delusional IMO. Just because you can't see all of the measures taken w/r/t digital content (as opposed to the fiberglass locking shelves at CVS, etc.), doesn't mean that expensive measures aren't being implemented. And those of us who pay full freight are paying for them. (Again, I know that a prevailing world view now is that if you pay full price you're a sucker. Times have changed.)
  13. LOL ok. Yeah I get that this is a prevailing view these days - theft from big companies is fine because they're greedy. I don't agree that it's fine, nor do I agree that it's victimless, but again, I understand that it's a commonly-held core belief now.
  14. Perhaps the victims are the law-abiders who pay higher prices because others are stealing? How is it any different from shoplifting from Target?
  15. But he was also a place where offense went to die in 2023. Seemed like he was in or near every malfunction the offense had that year. Anyhow, whatever. They have a break glass in emergency PS staffed with vets they won’t need to coach up because they already know the system. I guess that’s smart. I worry about all of the hedging this regime does at the expense of big swings but it’s a sane strategy to try to use the roster rules to your advantage.
  16. The Saints aren’t even going to win a game this year and his dad played for them. It is ordained.
  17. The odds of McD trusting him out there in a hybrid box role at this point in the offseason - this would be one of those misfit signings that probably never gets integrated into the lineup here. He’s not plug-and-play at this coach is slow to trust.
  18. Lol he called him “Michael” several times in his PC. Jerry may be out to sea…
  19. How does this help Dallas win games the next two years?
  20. Jerry justifying it by saying “we need to stop the run” lol what century is it, will that generation please step aside already.
