  1. Am I the only one who was watching the Rose Bowl angry at our playmaker McGee? Had we just lost the Bengals game like we should have, our QB situation could have been answered by Vince Young or Matt Leinart with our #3 overall pick. Yes, either one of them could be "busts". But so could anyone else we pick. But since we won that meaningless game, we'll pick 8th and draft someone on the OL or DL that probably won't make much of an impact right away. Tired of the sexy pick? I'm sure you are. But with Losman and Holcomb, it's actually needed for once. After the Rose Bowl, i'd do almost anything for Vince Young to be wearing a Bills uni next year. Flame me if you want, but I stand by it.
  2. As long as Modrak is here, it's going to be the same ****. All one has to do is go to bb.com, go to the multimedia section, click on "Bills T.V. Network", and watch the selection entitled "2004 Draft: Part 2". You'll see a INVOLVED Ralph Wilson sitting next to TD as they draft J.P. Losman as well as Modrak hosting the bit.
  3. Every single mock draft I see has us picking Haolti Ngata (with the exception of the people in drug induced stupers who have us picking D'Brickashaw at 8). I've seen Ngata play on a number of occasions and while he is decent, I think he's greatly overrated. I don't think he's worth taking at 8. I'd like to see us take a DT like Gabe Watson or Jesse Mahloena (sp?) in Round 2 while trying to keep Sam Adams and signing someone like Grady Jackson. I'd honestly like to see us try and move up to grab Ferguson, Mario Williams, A.J. Hawk, Mathias Kiwinuka, or Vince Young (GASP! I said it!). If only we would have lost to Cinci
  4. I don't know who to believe. ESPN and WGR was reporting it didn't look good for Mularkey. But now Kilgore (seriously, Kilgore?) is saying everything's all peachy keen?
  5. That's right! On the inside page of the Sports cover of the D&C, there's a report stating that former Super Bowl MVP and Washington Redskin's QB Mark Rypien has signed a one-game deal with the new Rochester Raiders football team. I can't wait! I'm gonna be there in the bingo hall..... er! arena front row in my Rypien Rochester jersey screaming my head off!
  6. No, it wouldn't. Here's my scenario to land Bush and the odds of this happening are 1,000,000,000 to 1: 1.) Franchise Nate and trade him for a LATE 1st. 2.) Trade Willis for a 2nd (and that's pushing it). Then our draft would look like this: 1.) (#8) 1.) (LATE for Nate) 2.) 2.) (For Willis) 3.) (For Travis) 3.) 3.) (Comp. for Pat Williams.... maybe) From there we'd have to trade a LOT to convince Houston to go from #1 to #8. The trade would have to be something like this: The #8 pick overall Our other LATE 1st for Nate A 2nd A 3rd Our 1st in 2007 Now the question remains, which member of the board reading this would want to do that? Mind you, we'd still have a pretty normal looking draft: 1.) Reggie Bush 2.) 3.) 3.) (MAYBE) 4.) 5.) 6.) 7.)
  7. I've been getting flamed for a while now about wanting to see Bush in Buffalo. It could have happened too.... But not after we won the Cinci game. We would have needed to lose against Cinci AND the Jets and packaged a lot to get from 3-1. In 2004, the Giants had to trade the 4th pick (Philip Rivers), their 2nd pick, their 5th pick, and their 1st rounder in 2005 to get Manning. It's going to cost at least that to get Bush. McGahee would get us at BEST a low-1st or a high-2nd. The Texans don't need a RB. They have Domanick Davis, David Carr, Andre Johnson, and Dunta Robinson. They need EVERYTHING else. The thing is Reggie Bush is just too good to pass on. If they're trading away their pick, they aren't doing it for a RB. They'd trade down to pick up more picks and draft D'Brickashaw Ferguson. The Brick won't be there for our pick, so they wouldn't trade to us.
  8. http://www.nfldraftcountdown.com/features/draftorder.html How do you figure?
  9. But if TD is gone, Mularkey isn't safe. If Ralph hands over the reigns to someone new, do you think he's going to step up and tell the GM that he HAS to keep Mularkey? A new GM probably wants to bring in their own coach, not the one left over from the previous regime.
  10. One HUGE difference though..... Trent Dilfer didn't have to do anything because he had one of the greatest defenses in the history of the NFL backing his offense up. We don't. We don't even have a mediocre defense.
  11. Seriously folks. I don't know how many "Holcombites" there are on this board that are going to flame this, but it's the truth. If J.P. Losman can't beat out Kelly Holcomb and he's so bad that Mularkey doesn't want to start him in a meaningless game, then we need to get another QB. Kelly Holcomb is a solid backup. He had MONSTER games in Cleveland as well. But he's just far too inconsistent to be a full-time starter. Now in what fashion should we get another QB remains the question. Should we keep Holcomb and J.P. and bring in someone like Joey Harrington, Patrick Ramsay, or Kyle Boller (EDIT: He might be kept after his solid outings the past couple games) to battle hoping that one of them just needs a change of scenery? Should we lose the Jets game and move up a couple spots to grab Matt Leinart or Vince Young as the new savior? Or maybe even work a trade with San Diego to get Philip Rivers in here? All in all, if we go into 2006 with Kelly Holcomb as the starting QB; we're not going to the playoffs. If we do, we're not going far. He's not the future of this team and I question whether or not he can be the present. It's obvious we have to rebuild this team from the ground up. Holcomb is not someone to build a new team around. If J.P.'s not the answer, we need to find someone who is.
  12. That's why i'm against picking one in the first. I think we should wait until the 2nd round and use our 1st on the best available, given need. ..... and i'm 100% with you on the signing of Grady Jackson and drafting someone like Gabe Watson in the 2nd.
  13. If we lose at the Jets (which is 50/50 in my eyes), we're looking at more like 3-5 instead of 8. But to answer your question, we're looking good. I think we'll get a 3rd round compensatory for Big Pat and Jonas. I think the league learned their lesson when they gave out 3 #3's for 3 crappy Bronco's players lost in FA, so we won't get much more than 1 3rd. Then of course we still have the Tennessee 3rd for Trav (which is shaping to be a high pick). With any luck we'll be able to get a 2nd for Nate if we can't resign him. I think the people that are saying we could get a 1st for him are being kind of unrealistic after this year's performance. But if we did get a 2nd, we'd be looking at something like this ( (#-#) = Somewhere Between ): 1.) (3-8) 2.) (35-40) 2.) (?) (For Nate) 3.) (67-72) 3.) (68-72) (For Trav) 3.) (?) (Comp. for Pat and Jonas) 4.) (99-104) 5.) (So on 6.) and 7.) so forth) For a look at a sure thing as to what we have at this moment, just take out the Nate and Pat thing (even though we should get a comp pick for Pat, there's just no telling where at this point). I think that whomever steps into the GM spot after Donahoe is going to be in a DREAM draft position. With the picks that we will most likely have and with the pure amount of them, there isn't a player in the draft that we couldn't get if we wanted them.
  14. http://www.nfldraftcountdown.com/features/draftorder.html We are currently dead even with the Cardinals battling over the 6th position. This week, the Saints are playing the Lions at "home". If the Saints win, they'll be tied with us. Their strength of schedule is better than us and they beat us earlier in the year, so that would help us climb after our inevitable loss to Cinci on the road. If they lose, then the Lions (4-10) will have no chance to tie with us or jump ahead if we lose out. New England having already clinched the division and a playoff spot could go down in New York. Especially if they rest some players. Remember what happened to them against Miami around this time on Monday night? And a small update regarding DT's in the draft for people who really want one; Brodrick Bunkley is climbing the charts. The DT from Florida State continues to turn heads and many have him ranked #1 or #2 in the draft. Haolti Ngata hasn't declared for the draft yet and Gabe Watson is being forgotten these days behind Ngata, Bunkley, Claude Wroten, and Roderique Wright. He may be able to be picked up in the 2nd. But of course, it's still early!
  15. You're forgetting a couple things. 1.) The Saints are playing the Lions at home this weekend. This is a VERY winable game for them. 2.) They have a stronger strength of schedule than us. 3.) They beat us this year giving us the edge if we tied. I wouldn't call it certain at all.
  16. The statement you quoted was me saying that no OL (Offensive Lineman) or DT's (Defensive TACKLES) is worth taking. Mario Williams is a DE.
  17. As much help as we need on both sides of the line, we can't go with OL or DT with our first pick..... unless of course D'Brickashaw Ferguson is there. Let's face facts, we're not winning next week. I also have a gut feeling we won't be beating the Jets on the road. We'll probably be favored, but they almost won on the road against Miami and most terrible teams seem to be able to pull out their home finale. Especially against a team as beatable as us. In my opinion, we are looking at a top 5 pick. Outside of D'Brickashaw, there isn't an O-Lineman or a D-Tackle worth taking in the top 10. Haolti Ngata is a good DT. But he's not good enough to take until around pick 12. Everyone underneath him isn't worth taking until late 1st. The same can be mentioned about Eric Winston (mid 1st). As much as i'll get bitched at for this, if Reggie Bush, Matt Leinart, or Vince Young is available when we pick; we have to take one. They're just too special to pass up. I don't buy into the whole "Leinart will be a bust" thing. Watch his games, watch his accuracy, and his composure. And Young is so Vick-like it's scary. Mario Williams would also be acceptable. If we can trade down with someone, that's fine. But if we stay put, you can't go with Ngata, Winston, or other DT's or OL's.
  18. I'm listening to GR now and they're not saying anything about TD getting canned.
  19. http://www.nfldraftblitz.com/pick_value_chart.htm Here's a look at what picks are worth for you draftniks out there.....
  20. I never said another top 5 pick. I said we'd have the 1st and then a late first.
  21. Yes, we should and will address the O-Line. But I feel it's as simple as signing a LT. Mike Gandy has done well at the LT spot and will do even better at LG (which is what he played in Chicago). If we signed Tra Thomas and moved Gandy inside while getting some depth in the 2nd round, we'd be set on that front. McGahee may have gotten 1,000 yards; but he hasn't been there when it counts and he certainly isn't playing like he did last season.
  22. Um.... Eli Manning was traded to the Chargers for Philip Rivers (essentially the 4th pick), their 3rd rounder, and a 1st and a 5th in 2005. The trade I proposed is even stronger than that: the #1 pick for the #3-4 pick (what we should get when err... if we lose out), our 2nd, a 3rd, and a 1st in 2007.
  23. I both agree and disagree with this statement. I agree that if you can't get a 1st for Alexander or Edge, you won't get a 1st for Willis. But I disagree because it all depends on time and situation. No one could get a 1st for those guys because the 2005 draft was RICH at RB. With Ronnie, Benson, Cadillac, and J.J. just to name a few; they were just going to pick them. Also, Alexander and Edge aren't as young as Willis. I feel as if you can get a late-1st for TE Doug Jolley, you can get a late-1st for Willis. The situation just needs to be right.
  24. Yes, I admit it. I've been bitten by the Reggie Bush bug. Before everyone goes nuts with "Shutup", "I've heard of 'em", and "Simply put: no." posts; hear me out: We have needs all over this team. Mainly in the O-Line and D-Line department. It has been reported that we have a substantial amount of spending money after this season. So a lot of these needs can be filled in free agency. I think we'll see Nate returning in a Bills uniform next season. With the way he's been playing combined with the fact that the going rate for top corners is expected to go down, we should be able to get him back. So now we have to deal with the losses of the following men: Eric Moulds Sam Adams Mike Williams Honestly, I don't want to see a single one of them leave. But Moulds is going to cost WAY too much money and after the crap that went down this season, he won't want to take a pay cut let alone return to the team. Sam Adams is guaranteed to go if Mary Mularkey stays on. Even if he doesn't, he probably won't want to come back and/or the organization will feel he's "detrimental" to the team. Mike Williams has been a bust. I don't think anyone can argue that fact anymore. You can come up with excuses, but even those (such as injuries that have become more and more frequent) excuses still point to "bust". I'd like to see us bring him back for one more year. He may be a "bust". But when he's on and healthy, he's our top lineman. Unfortunately, his cost is obscene. I read somewhere as well that we would not be able to restructure him. So out the door he goes So now with our John Clayton reported cap figure (in which he states we should be able to re-sign Clements and still land 1-2 TOP lineman) along with cuts to free up more space, you go after an O-Lineman and a D-Lineman. And here's the name's we go after: Grady Jackson, DT Green Bay Tra Thomas, OT Philidelphia Grady Jackson is an unrestricted free agent after this season. He's easily one of the top DL available. He's a mountain of a man that just clogs the middle and is quicker than Sam and just as big. Tra Thomas is expected to be cut after this season by Philidelphia. Having strained relationships and costing more money than they'd like to pay, he should be available. He is one of the premier left tackles in the league and would solidify that side of the line while moving Mike Gandy over to Guard; a position he played most in Chicago. So how and why does Reggie Bush fall into this equation? Well with the acquisition of veteran upgrades at both the O and D lines, we could afford to use a high pick on him. But why the hell would we do that when we already have a RB? As I sit here in my Willis McGahee throwback, it pains me to admit that he is NOT a Buffalo Bill. In 2003, he worked himself into the ground getting ready. In 2004, he proved that he was the best RB on the Bills and that he had completely bounced back from his injury. He played with passion and heart to prove to everyone, all of his doubters; that he was back and was one of the top RB's in the NFL. But now that Travis is gone and Willis was handed the team, that passion is gone. Last year when he hit that hole it didn't matter how many men were in it, he would always somehow come out the other side? Do you guys remember that? This year if he gets looked at the wrong way, he's down. And why? Because he has no heart anymore. He's proven this year with his attitude, his words, and his play that he doesn't care. He doesn't care if the Buffalo Bills are winning or losing. All Willis McGahee cares about now is his paycheck and his own personal accolades. Halfway through the season I started wondering when he would start saying he doesn't like it in Buffalo. When he would start saying he wants out. Because even though he hasn't said it, he's proving it to be true. Just recently, I read it on profootballweekly.com under the rumors that Willis wants to go to a warm weather team. Even though it's just a rumor, I buy it. For everyone who is reading this and saying, "he can't run because the line is atrocious" (sp?) know that this line is just as bad as last year's line. And the WR's are the same as last year's. He only plays well this year when he's challenged by coaches. The difference is with Willis. He's not a guy to build J.P. and this team around and quite frankly, I question his talent now as well. So before everything whirls out of control and before he pulls a Travis and EVERYONE knows he wants to be traded (thus, decreasing leverage and trade value); you move him for a late-1st rounder. I think he could get that. The 1st pick in the draft is neccessary if you want Bush. The Texans aren't drafting him. No matter what anyone says, they can't and won't do it. They have a quality QB and a quality RB who just this year signed a 21.1 million dollar extension. He's been putting up solid numbers and Davis is one of the few solid players on the team. They are going to pick D'Brickashaw Ferguson. But they aren't stupid. They'll trade their pick for more picks so that they can get that O-Line help that they need more than ANYONE else in the league (even us) and pick up more picks to get more help. Even if someone wants the 1st pick to take Leinart, Bush will be gone in the 2nd pick to San Fran. So you have to get that 1st. Here's how I see our draft filling out: 1.) (#3-5 pick) 1.) (For Willis) 2.) 3.) 3.) (For Travis) 3.) (Supplemental for Pat) 4.) 4.) (Supplemental for Jonas and Drew) 5.) 6.) 7.) Now before anyone starts argueing with me about the Compensatory picks, take a look at the three 3rd rounders Denver got in 2005 for the crap they lost last year and try telling me that losing Pat, Jonas, and Drew (without signing anyone to replace them) isn't worth one 3rd and one 4th! If we end up with the 3rd or 4th pick overall, we could trade that along with our 2nd, one of our 3rd's, and a 1st (or a 2nd if plausible) next year to move up 2-3 spots. This would leave us with our extra 1st rounder for Willis and two 3rd round picks still. With our second 1st, you draft a DT to go alongside Grady Jackson. Someone like Gabe Watson who should still be available after Ngata, Claude Wroten, and others. With the rest of the draft still looking a little something like this: 1.) Reggie Bush 1.) Gabe Watson (or other DT) 3.) 3.) 4.) 4.) 5.) 6.) 7.) Why would we draft Reggie Bush? There's a number of reasons why. First off, he's an incredible talent. The closest thing to a can't-miss i've ever seen. He can do it all and HE is the type of guy to mold your entire offense around and help out J.P. more than Willis. But even more than that, Buffalo would do it to please the fans. After this season, Ralph knows that the fans will be disenchanted by the product. Disenchanted by the talent (or lackthereof) and how they were treated by the organization (RE: Mularkey and Donahoe). The Bills will need to do something to get the fans excited. To get them some exposure and attention. Drafting Reggie Bush would put all eyes on Buffalo. You'd see people all over america in Buffalo Bills' jerseys. It would be a PR dream and something that would put asses in the seats. After what we were put through, that's something I could see Ralph trying to do. Especially if a new hot shot GM and/or coach like (keyword being LIKE) Jimmy Johnson comes in. They'll look to make a splash immediately. ....... and that's why you draft Reggie Bush.
