  1. After watching some practices, I agree completely about Kiwanuka. Although, I disgree about White. I've also edited my board accordingly.
  2. I think you might have read the post wrong. He's stating that maybe the Jets will pass on D'Brickashaw Ferguson for Jay Cutler. Thus allowing the Brick to fall to us.
  3. You know what's amazing? We're disagreeing about something and acting civil about it. Seriously though, I think Davis is better than Mercedes. I've always felt he was a little overhyped myself. I like Cromartie a lot. But I don't think he's top-15. Not after his injury and all. I think Greenway is a good LB. Probably in the 15-20 range. But personally, i'm not a big fan. And I understand a lot of people aren't high on Young for whatever reason. But to drop him below Cromartie, Ryans, and Davis is just plain crazy talk.
  4. While I think "in a heartbeat" is pushing it, I also think that calling this proposal "the dumbest idea" ever is uncalled for as well. What do you think J.P. Losman would get us? If we were looking to deal him, the best we would get is a 2nd. Tell me ONE team that would even think about giving us a first. That being said, Ryan Fitzpatrick and a 3rd sounds pretty fair. I wouldn't do it personally. But if Marv and Ralph really hate J.P. and don't want him, then it would make sense. Especially with Fairchild's history with him. P.S. Ryan Fitzpatrick WAS drafted.
  5. I thought this would be a fun little game. Create the first 15 prospects of the Bills draft board if you were GM. Mind you, this is a value board, not a NEED board. Just because someone is #1 on the board doesn't mean you have to select him. Here's mine: 1.) Reggie Bush, RB USC 2.) Vince Young, QB Texas 3.) D'Brickashaw Ferguson, OT Virginia 4.) Matt Leinart, QB USC 5.) Mario Williams, DE N.C. State 6.) A.J. Hawk, LB Ohio State 7.) Haloti Ngata, DT Oregon 8.) Tambla Hali, DE Penn State 9.) Michael Huff, S Texas 10.) Jimmy Williams, CB Virginia Tech 11.) DeAngelo Williams, RB Memphis 12.) Vernon Davis, TE Maryland 13.) Santonio Holmes, WR Ohio State 14.) Lendale White, RB USC 15.) Jay Cutler, QB Vanderbilt You'll notice that with the exception of Ngata, Williams, and Kiwinuka; there are no D-Lineman and with the exception of Ferguson; no O-Lineman. That's because there isn't anyone else worth being in the top-15 (I actually have Tambla Hali at 16 however). After Ngata, the next best DT's are Brodrick Bunkley, Claude Wroten, and Gabe Watson. They won't be selected until the middle-1st at best. Same goes for Winston Justice, Marcus McNeill, and Eric Winston on OT. So if neither Ngata, Ferguson, or Williams are there; then we should trade down. If we can't, then we may have to look outside the OL/DL box in the 1st round. Otherwise, we'll be reaching (even though Kiwinuka is 8th on my board, I think picking him 8th would be a little bit of a reach). I believe we'll address both lines HEAVILY in FA, so it won't be the end of the world if we wait until the 2nd (although it's not preferred). How about you guys? EDIT: After catching some Senior Bowl practices, I have to agree that Hali is better than Kiwinuka. Therefore, i've switched their spots (Hali was 16 and unlisted).
  6. Seriously though, with April (who was a GODSEND), our new DL coach, and now Fairchild; how long before we start calling ourselves "The Greatest Show on Turf"? Honestly though, I like the hire of Steve Fairchild. Here are my likes/dislikes: Dislikes: -The initial sinking feeling I got when I heard our new OC was GW's RB coach. -The fact that Martz called the plays in St. Louis for Fairchild's entire tenure, save the 11 games he was out last season. Likes: -It's not Clements or Gilbride -He turned an unknown 6th round QB send-off from New Orleans into a Pro-Bowler in his 1st year. -He was both a QB coach and a RB coach, so he SHOULD understand the importance that balance between both positions hold. -Although he was GW's assistant as a RB coach, he does understand the Bills organization, it's fans, and it's surroundings. Lastly, with only two DC positions available; I find absolutely no reason why we shouldn't get either Jim Bates or Donnie Henderson. If anyone else is hired, i'm going to be pissed...... unless of course it's some off the radar stud.
  7. Again, let me state that this is not what i'd like to see. But if Ngata, Ferguson, and Williams are off the board and we can't find a partner to trade down with; I see it happening. Hell, I see it happening even if we do have people to trade down with. I think Ralph is sick to his stomach with the thought of J.P. Losman. He was TD/MM's baby. I just have a gut feeling with the way Ralph, Marv, and Jauron have been talking that J.P.'s days in Buffalo may be numbered. I think Ralph might want his own QB and Cutler might be that guy. I can see them pulling some **** like that.
  8. I agree 100% But that's not what i'm getting at. I have a hunch that Ralph doesn't like J.P. I think that's part of the reason Sherman's not here. I could definitely see them pulling something like this. I'm simply trying to gauge what the response and/or the shock would be in this move.
  9. As we approach the draft, i'm noticing more and more that Jay Cutler is becoming the "darling" of the draft ala Philip Rivers in 2004. Most project him going to Miami with the 17th pick right now. I expect that after the Senior Bowl, his stock will rise even more than it has already. Bringing him to around our position. Now i'm not saying that we should draft Jay Cutler. Certainly not. But what if Williams, Ngata, Hawk, and Ferguson are all gone? What if this team has already given up on J.P. Losman and they select him. What would the reaction be? Just a curiousity post.....
  10. No, I haven't heard that one. But Ramsey is Losman except 2 years younger. They even came from the same school. I'd have to pass on that.
  11. I think asking for Hutchinson AND Bentley might be pushing it a little. I for one hope that we get Bentley and then get Max-Jean Gilles either as part of a trade-down from our 8th or a trade-up from our 2nd rounder. If not and the Brick falls to us, you have to take him. Either way, i'm looking at this: Mike Gandy Max-Jean Gilles LeCharles Bentley Chris Villarial or Mike Williams (GASP!) Jason Peters OR D'Brickashaw Ferguson Mike Gandy ('played LG at Chicago before coming to Buffalo) LeCharles Bentley Chris Villarial or Mike Williams Jason Peters
  12. What is up with this place? More and more i've been noticing that members of this board are just ridiculously mean to other members. Just because someone has an opinion you don't agree with or might be living in a "fantasy world" doesn't mean that you have to be a jerk to them. This board is far and away the worst Bills board i've seen when it comes to e-Bullying. That's unfortunate as it's one of the bigger Bills sites and fans of other teams often stop by here to see what we're or this team is like. I understand as fans we are bitter when it comes to this team and the product. But there's absolutely no reason for some of the attitudes of this board. I'm sure even this post will merit some jackass having to shoot off at the mouth at me. I'm not trying to sound like a hippy or anything, I just think some people need to chill a little. You can agree to disagree without having to fight. This board is supposed to be fun and sometimes it's just degrading. Let's all make an effort to be a little more understanding.
  13. With any luck Jauron will resign after this conference
  14. I'm worried that Jauron is going to come in here and think that because Chris Villarial was good under him in Chicago, that he has to stay. Or that Mike Gandy is a lock at LT for the same reason. I thought Gandy wasn't bad, but he wasn't great either. I'd like to see an upgrade at that position. And are we going to see a million passes to Daimon Shelton again? After all, he's another Jauron boy. It would make me sick if Dick Jauron thinks that he can make some of these guys work again! Then I started thinking about J.P. Losman. Dick Jauron has spent the past two seasons in Detroit. He's watched as Joey Harrington destroyed Steve Mariucci and the team. They stuck with him for what they realized was too long. Do you think that Jauron is worried about the same thing happening to him with J.P.? It was reported that one of the sticking points with Sherman and Marv was Losman. If it was a sticking point, you have to assume that Sherman wanted him to start with his well documented love affair with him. This leads me to believe that the other party (Marv) must've not been to keen on that. In the end, Sherman wasn't hired. I wish I knew which direction this team was headed
  15. I am pissed that it's not Mike Sherman. But there is a few different ways of looking at it: 1.) It's not Mike Mularkey! : We all wanted a new HC and anyone is better than having the Steelers connection around. 2.) We have the potential of having coordinators with HC experience : With Sherman, we probably would have gotten Bates and someone else he brought from Green Bay. But with Jauron, we may grab Capers or Hasslett on the D side. 3.) Dick Jauron has HC experience 4.) He won HC of the Year in 2001 5.) NO MORE GADGET PLAYS! : I was going to shoot someone if I saw Roscoe Parrish or Eric Moulds line up under center ever again. Jauron seems to be well respected around the league and brings a normal, old school approach to Buffalo. Marv is comfortable with him and I guess that helps (?). Again, I wish it was Sherman; but it could be a lot worse. Let's give the guy a shot and I look forward to knowing who our new coordinators are. No use crying over spilled milk.
  16. The 4th pick overall? It would take a whole helluva lot. McGahee, Clements, a 2nd, a 3rd, and a 1st next year might be enough. But it's just not worth it. While McGahee and Clements are quality players, you have to realize that not only would you have to convince them that the trade is worth it; but to pick up their contracts as well. And Priest? He's one injury away from a wheelchair. He should simply retire.
  17. I'm all for them switching back to throwbacks ala the New York Jets. But Ralph might be slow to do that. It would tick off a lot of casual fans who spent tons on the new jerseys in 2002-2005. Plus, they'd lose a lot of money on the one's that are in stores.
  18. The Senior Bowl is far and away the most anticipated college "All Star" game. All the NFL teams are represented by coaches and GM's. It include's sort of a mini-combine where teams can see them workout and you can pick their brains a little. Each college team is even coached by an NFL HC. Philip Rivers went from a projected mid-2nd rounder to the 4th overall pick based on his performance at the Senior Bowl. J.P. Losman probably wouldn't have been picked by Buffalo where he was without the Senior Bowl. It's as big as you can get.
  19. ..... and that's not neccessarily a bad thing. But it completely contradicts their act "swiftly" statement. Yesterday it looked like it was between Sherman and Jauron and that we'd probably have a coach today (after the Lofton interview). Then came the curveball, Dom Capers. While Dom has a horrible record, I don't think it's all his fault. There's not much one could do with that Texans team. I, like most other Bills fans; wanted Sherman. But the fact that they're bringing in Capers worries me. It makes me think that if they wanted Sherman, we wouldn't be looking at Capers. Now reports are coming out that we will be interviewing former Jets DC Donnie Henderson and Indy Asst. HC Jim Caldwell in the coming days. There has also been some more Haslett talk as well. I feel that we must have a HC announced by Thursday of next week so that we have a guy under our banner for the trip to Mobile and the Senior Bowl. It would have been nice to have a HC for the East/West Shrine Game and the Hula Bowl this weekend, but that's not near as important as the Senior Bowl trip. We can afford to take our time with only Oakland still searching. So bring in Henderson and Caldwell. And while Marv's at it, he should bring in Haslett, Fassell, Martz, Mike Singeltary, Art Shell, or anyone else that he can think of. In the end, I hope they come back and say that Sherman was the best. But I feel a whole hell of a lot more comfortable with Marv making the decision then TD.
  20. I think people are being a little harsh on Buffalo's secondary. They got picked on a LOT. Mostly because we had ZERO pass rush most of the time. With no rush, a QB has all day to pick his spots. And with the way we couldn't stop the run, we had to send Lawyer and/or other DB's to rush the QB and stop the RB constantly. I don't think all these "get rid of these bum's" comments are fair. I can think of a lot of plays where Troy Vincent was all over the place. I think (keyword THINK) he may have even led the team in picks this year as well. Lawyer Milloy was a dominant force in 2003 and 2004 (save when he broke his wrist). The loss of Takeo Spikes and Pat Williams devestated this defense. It brought us from first to worst figuratively speaking. Combine all these factors with TERRIBLE coaching and you're going to have problems. Not to mention the fact that our D was almost always on the field because our offense couldn't get it going most of the time. You'd be surprised how good a "D" can be when the offense is rolling. I'm confident going into next season with Lawyer Milloy and Troy Vincent at the Safety positions. I feel that once we put Takeo back into the mix, pick up 1-2 big DT's via FA and the Draft, and get some solid coaches in here; things will pick up again and our DB's will have the chance to be dominant again.
