  1. Of course. The 20th WR in the Draft could end up being the best. But when you have the kind of WR core we have right now, it's possible (if not likely) that there's someone he wants to secure that is considered a safer bet and has better tools to succeed right away. The hole is so glaring (regardless of what Beane says) that it's possible there's multiple teams underneath us that are thinking of hopping ahead of us if we stand pat. And as good as this class is, there's only so many that are considered 1st Round talents. Maybe even less than we think if the stuff about Mitchell's health and habits are true.
  2. Trading up is a no brainer, if not a necessity, unless we want to settle for, at best, the 6th WR off the board. Thomas will be gone by 28. And anyone underneath us that is interested in a WR is going to jump ahead of us because they know we're going to take one and quite possibly their "guy". The question is - is it an "aggressive" trade up they're hearing about or simply "aggressively" trying to move up any number of slots?
  3. Should say "All Reported Pre-Draft Meetings". Combine Interviews and Pro Day appearances aren't Pre-Draft visits and we don't have all of the Pre-Draft visits accounted for.
  4. I don't know what's more ridiculous - the idea that the Vikings are going to trade the best WR in Football at age 24, following them letting their QB walk to ensure they have enough money to keep him.... Or saying you prefer a Draft Prospect who hasn't played a down in the NFL over the proven best WR in the NFL.
  5. And they were trying to retain Calvin Ridley after they signed Davis and lost him. They do have Gabe Davis, Zay Jones, Devin Duvernay, and Christian Kirk in the Slot. So it's possible they go elsewhere and wait on WR. But with them seriously trying to retain Ridley and not being able to get it done, i'd assume they're still looking for a bigger piece alongside Davis than Zay.
  6. Why would anyone want to pay $925 million dollars (and probably be asked to help with finances for the team) and have no say in anything?
  7. I think this is the first Trade Josh thread. But there is a Trade Milano thread on Page 1 and a Trade Dawkins thread recently. 'Tis the time of the year when everyone gets obsessed with Draft Prospects, convinces themselves they're going to be the best players to ever suit up at their position based on watching YouTube highlight reels, and wants to trade literally anyone and everyone to try and get them. EDIT: Oh, no, you're right. There is another Trade Josh thread on Page 1. Dear Lord.
  8. I mean, he's not getting a job anywhere until next season - unless something happens where there's some kind of fight between the Coach and Owner or some sort of health issue. No one's firing their Head Coach at this point in the offseason.
  9. I don't think our 2nd next year is enough to get to get from 28 to 17. And if Thomas makes it to the Jaguars, the Jaguars are probably just going to take him. The feeling around Thomas is that we'd have to get ahead of the Jaguars to ensure him.
  10. Because we're spending 7 picks (1st, 3 2nd's, 2 4th's, and a 5th) for two guys? None of which considered greater than WR4 in the Draft. As much as I like Legette and Thomas, I don't know if I'm giving up 28 and 60 AND both 2nd's next year (including one most likely in the Top 10) without walking away with someone like Odunze.
  11. He is one of 3 RB's we reportedly met with at the Combine too (the other two being Braelon Allen and Frank Gore Jr.) As for the 40, he improved it quite a bit at his Pro Day - running a 4.58 there. Not sure if he was dinged up, had bad starts, or just wasn't trained in track running. But a .12 (even if it doesn't seem like much) difference is a big improvement in a 40 time.
  12. Yeah, i'm really big on Braelon Allen too. I think he's the perfect compliment Back to James Cook. But he's definitely not a Round 5-7 guy IMO. The problem with him is the area I see him going is between our 2nd Pick at 60 and our next pick. I have him as a Mid 3rd - Mid 4th Round Prospect. Small chance he's there at 128 and if he's there, i'd hope we'd take him. The good news is that he's one of only 3 RB's we met (that was reported, there could be more that we don't know about) at the Combine (the other two being Audric Estime and Frank Gore Jr.)
  13. There isn't an exact baseline for the trade. As the two big trades that are used as a basis are moves to 6 and 10. This is to 8. But to review: 2011 Trade from 27-6: 1st, 2nd, and 4th in 2011 1st and 4th in 2012 2017 Trade from 27-10: 1st and 3rd in 2017 1st in 2018 So a move from 28-8 should be less than the 2011 Trade, but more than the 2017 Trade. My proposal was: 1st, 4th, 5th, and 5th in 2024 2nd and 2nd in 2025 Or 1st, 4th, 5th, and 5th in 2024 1st in 2025 Again, If the 21 picks from 27 to 6 was two 1sts, a 2nd, and 2 4ths - moving 20 picks from 28 to 8 needs to be less. Maybe it should be: 1st, 4th, and 5th in 2024 1st and 3rd in 2025 This would be more than the Two 1sts and a 3rd cost in the Mahomes trade to 10 and less than the Julio Jones trade to 6. I may or may not pay that price for Odunze. But in the insane scenario that either Harrison or Nabers were there - I think I'd do it. Especially with the extra picks we have this year, the extra 2nd from Diggs next year, and the projected 4th and 5th comp picks for Davis and Floyd next year. That would still leave us with: Pick 8 in Round 1, Round 2, Round 4, Round 5, Round 5, Round 6, Round 6, and Round 7 this year Round 2, Round 2, Round 4, Round 4, Round 5, Round 6, and Round 6 next year.
  14. There's really no way of doing this before June 1st and it would be really hard to pull off even after. Even with a re-done contract, we have to be able to take it on as is first before a Trade is approved.
  15. There's no set rule on the valuation of picks the following year. I think the concept of taking the estimated area of pick and doing a full 32 pick depreciation from there is a little steeper than reality and how they've been valued in recent years. I'd say, at most, you'd say each 2nd is valued as the last two picks in the 2nd - as it's guaranteed to be at least that and almost *definitely* will be worth a lot more (especially since one of them is Minnesota's pick). If we were to do that, the tally would be 406 from Atlanta to 399 from Buffalo. Maybe up the 160 to 144 (keeping the 160) and throwing in 163. That would be 412 from Buffalo and 406 from Atlanta (if we're working on the idea of next year's 2nd's being worth 63 and 64). With 28, 128, 143, 163, and both 2nd's (or next year's 1st, if they preferred that) next year going to Atlanta for Pick 8. Either way, it doesn't "HEAVILY" favor Buffalo. There's a MAJOR difference between trading to 4 and trading to 8. While i'd agree that Sim's often allow trades that are not based in reality, this one isn't unrealistic based on chart values and recent trades.
  16. For a Top 5 pick? Yes, that's not nearly enough. To 8 though? It's a fairly solid deal. 8 is worth 406. 28, 128, and 160 are worth 238. Let's say next year, Minnesota's 2nd is Pick 43 and ours is Pick 60 (which is a fair estimate) - that's 230 points. Bringing the total to 468 - 406. We'll call the 62 point differential a depreciation based on them being picks next year. But both those 2nd's are worth a 1st next year. If they wanted our 1st instead of the 2 2's, I'd definitely do that too - knowing I could probably move them to get back into the 1st if I wanted to. https://www.drafttek.com/NFL-Trade-Value-Chart-Rich-Hill.asp
  17. Lol at the idea of Harrison lasting until 8. But happily traded a 1st, 4th, and 5th this year and both our 2nd's next year to take him.
  18. I highly doubt they signed him to a comp qualifying contract. He was under the qualification number for us last year. I don't think he got a raise in NY with the state of his health the past two seasons.
  19. 2 1sts, a 3rd, a 4th, a 5th, and our 26 year old Starting RT for Pick 9? I was saying that an earlier offer a poster made for Pick 4 was an underpay, but this is an overpay. Not to mention, puts us in a situation where we're starting La'el Collins full time at OT and needing to get another OT. 28 (Round 1), 128 (Round 4), 160 (Round 5), 2025 Round 2 (from Minnesota), and a 2025 Round 3 would be my offer. That's 419 points from us (considering Minnesota picks where they do this year (and it's likely higher than that) and we pick where we pick this year - next year) and 387 from them. With a 32 point differential hit on picks coming from next year. *Maybe* I'd consider our other 2nd instead of the 3rd if Beane really wanted Odunze. But I'm keeping that 1st next year, unless I'm trading into the 4-6 range and Spencer Brown isn't going anywhere. https://www.drafttek.com/NFL-Trade-Value-Chart-Rich-Hill.asp
  20. Sadly, you wouldn't be the first to propose this. I guess some of you are just searching for *any* way to come up with more trade up ammo for the ability to end up with a Top 6 pick this year for MHJ or Nabers. Wanting to move on from perhaps the best true off the ball Linebacker in the NFL because you really want one of them is, at best, incredibly misguided.
  21. Maybe. But I think it's going to cost more than that. The price for Atlanta to go from 27 to 6 for Julio Jones was a 1st, 2nd, and 4th in 2011 and a 1st and a 4th in 2012. So i'm not sure that a 1st and a 4th this year and a 1st and 2nd next year would be enough to go from 28 to 4 when it cost more to go from 27 to 6 for Atlanta. I think the 3 1st's asking price isn't equal from picks 5-32. I'd guess with where we're picking, they'd probably want more to move from 4 to 28.
  22. Polk is nothing to scoff at. To me, he's right there with most of the high 2nd Round talents. Would actually prefer him over some guys that most posters like more.
  23. A "gadget" guy to me implies a guy you put all over the field. TE, Slot WR, in the backfield, etc. to get the ball in his hands in space. This kind of role goes to very athletic, slippery, generally speed guys. Dawson Knox does not have that kind of athleticism. Occasionally, you could split him out wide in the middle. But he's not a "gadget guy".
  24. Of course he was going to be arrested. You can't street race, cause a multi car accident, and flee the scene without being charged with something. It was ridiculous when Chiefs fan in here was like "no one's going to be arrested". Whether the punishment will be severe or not is a different story. But he was always going to be charged. The "serious bodily injury" is interesting as the injuries were always reported as "minor". Though I did say that could simply mean "minor" in the sense that no one died. I also wonder what the "assault" was.
