  1. It's wild to me how much talk is floating around about Malaki Starks. EVERYONE who covers the Bills is pushing the idea that the Bills may do it and talking about the merits or pitfalls of doing so. It makes me wonder how we've gotten here. Did Bills brass float something out there? Is it a smokescreen?
  2. Definitely nothing. This is the equivalent of a journalist doing what posters do here. There's a million and a half "what if?" clickbait articles based on a journalist floating out an idea of a trade or signing that they think would be a good idea this time of the year. This is nothing more than that.
  3. You spam post "Cook and 30 for 12" as if you think the more times you post it, the less ridiculous it will be...
  4. Yeah, i've noticed that too. Lots of Bills media hyping up the idea of Drafting Starks at 30 today. It's just a little off. Round 1 (30) + Round 4 (109) + Round 6 (177) = 234 pts. Pick 24 = 237 pts. Would probably need to throw in Round 6 (206) as well (4 pts.). 30, 109, and 206 is a perfectly even trade for #25 at 230 pts. though and would allow us to keep 177. https://www.drafttek.com/NFL-Trade-Value-Chart-Rich-Hill.asp
  5. They'd need to have the 2nd Pick in the Draft to be in a position to have "these two players in front of them". Which as you said, has no chance of happening. But if we did, in my opinion - it's Hunter. He's elite at both WR and CB. While no one is playing 100% of the snaps on both Offense and Defense, he could have a base position and still play packages on the other side of the ball. And he can switch base position where needed when there's injuries. Given both are positions of need for us, I value the need for Playmakers on Offense more than most, and that it's a Defensive Line Draft - I'd go Hunter and then address Edge on Day 2. But you really can't go wrong either way. To me, they're the 2 best players in this class and by a pretty big margin.
  6. He's sitting out Voluntary OTA's. This isn't shocking and was pretty much expected. And Beane doesn't have a problem with it. The last report from Schefter is he's unhappy about his contract (obviously) but will play for us this year. If something changes and he decides to hold out during mandatory practices or games, it's worth revisiting then. But the outrage over this reads like people who want him traded using it as a reason to do so. The reality is, nothing's changed. We all expected this.
  7. Adam Schefter's take that we could spend 30 on a LB with Milano and Dorian on the roster.
  8. Palmer is a proven career yearly average of 572 yards, a WR2/3 guy. Samuel is a proven Slot that we hoped could be an Outside guy, but still used 50% on the Inside. Palmer might be taking the role Cooper was supposed to provide us, but he hasn't proven that he's anything more than what he's done as of yet. And even if he fills Cooper's role on paper - we still don't have a hole where Mack Hollins was. Given that when it mattered against the Championship caliber teams of Baltimore and Kansas City, our core wasn't enough, it was my hope that we would seriously upgrade WR this offseason. Palmer is another hope and projection that he can be more than what he's been (like Hollins and Samuel last season). So i'd hope the board falls right and we get a WR worthy of a 1st or 2nd Round Pick to provide the most talented guy we can for that last spot. Because relying on Palmer, Coleman, and Samuel to be more than what they were last year is a hope and not something we should be 100% relying on.
  9. You must not have been closely watching then. Rasul Douglas was not our #1. He wasn't lined up on the opposing team's top Outside WR last season. That was Benford's man. No one considered Rasul Douglas our #1 CB last season.
  10. Did you watch the Bills last year?
  11. ... what? Did you read the affidavit? What's to "flip"? They have medical. Where they met her after the medical staff called the Police. They have text messages of him admitting to it. Text messages of him offering her money and asking her to sign an NDA. Again, this isn't "an allegation". This is a Felony charge. And they don't charge for Rape easily. 9 times out of 10 they investigate for a long time and feel they don't have enough evidence to charge. They had more than enough in this instance. A retaliatory lawsuit against her changes nothing on the criminal charge. It's a common scare tactic done in hopes that they'll refuse to testify in exchange for them dropping the suit. "Witnesses"? Like what? Someone else in the room watching and filming? He's already apologized to her when confronted while the police were watching the exchange and tried to blame it on being drunk by saying "alcohol makes me do things". As long as that charge stands, no one's touching him anywhere near where you have him. I'd be shocked if someone picked him at all. They'd have to stand on a podium and explain why they're supporting someone charged with Rape and believe that law enforcement has it wrong and they'll be behind him through the trial - with everything available to the public.
  12. Most of the posts in here are people who are excited that he's here and think he's going to start. Or people who are against it because he's prob toast and they shouldn't have signed him in the first place. Personally, I don't think it's that huge on either side of the spectrum. He's a guy who we're probably paying such little guarantees to that if it doesn't look like it's working out in Training Camp, they can walk away from him. But he's someone who knows the system and has been successful in it. He was put into situations in LA that didn't play to his strengths like our Defense does. I don't believe his signing changes their Draft plans at all. It's just a little something more to the room in case the Draft board doesn't fall right. Outside of guys like Asante Samuel or Stephon Gilmore who are unlikely to come here or are not really fits, it's not like there's really a CB available in the veteran market that would be a clear upgrade over White. Even Douglas doesn't feel like an upgrade over White. Ultimately, I think Tre White makes the team - it just means Dane Jackson doesn't. We only keep 5 (+Cam Lewis who is a floating backup Safety and backup Nickel). Benford and Johnson are givens, they really like Ingram as a developing player and ST'er, and we'll definitely Draft at least one. So something will probably have to give between White and Jackson, unless they surprise me and move on from Ingram.
  13. 6.8m isn't all that expensive to begin with for a CB. And anytime you hear "up to" - that's code for "not even close to what they're really being paid". As for concern over who they're choosing to replacing Douglas - did you watch Rasul Douglas last season? He was truly dreadful. There's a reason we let him walk and he's still out there. He gave up a 73% completion percentage when targeted. If it's Douglas or a competition between a Draft Pick, White, and Jackson - I'll take the latter all day. Douglas looked truly toast and I don't think he's going to bounce back at 31.
  14. Right. Because we signed Dane and Tre. You were saying that wasn't what a "GM worth their salt" would do... Some of this could also be to make the hole less glaring. With what they've done as far as pre-Draft work and visits with CB's - it's pretty obvious to teams what we're going to do. This makes it a little more ambiguous when we're on the clock. Case in point, half of the posters on here seem to think CB is off the table now.
  15. It's not 6.8m. It's "up to 6.8m". I'd be surprised if the actual money was even a 3rd of that. This is what a "GM's worth their salt" do. Set yourself up with a floor and insurance policy's. Relying only on the Draft is a risk. You don't know how the board is going to fall. I think in White (and also Jackson) they're taking a chance on someone that knows the system at a cheap price. Neither will preclude Beane from Drafting someone. And neither contract is one that we can't move on from if the Draft falls right. But you don't want to be in a place where the cupboard is completely bare if the board doesn't fall right.
  16. Thank you! Everyone loves to say "old CB who doesn't have it for Corner anymore? Move them to Safety". That's not how it works. You need to have the traits necessary to make that switch. Tre does not have those traits.
  17. Beane signing him to come to Camp doesn't guarantee he has full trust in him or is relying on him. There's tons of players on this roster right now, guys we've signed as UFA's this offseason, that are guys brought in to compete and he probably isn't expecting to make it. And there's guys every season that are re-signed to their former teams out of respect for them, giving them one last shot. He'll be given a chance to compete. He could make it as a depth guy. He could also just as easily be beaten by Dane Jackson and/or a Rookie they really like and didn't expect to be there for a Double Dip on Day 3.
  18. Just like Micah Hyde for sure seeing the field, right? You've got 1 on me for Diggs. And ever since then you've posted this on practically *every* post i've made and there hasn't been even ONE instance where what you've countered with has rung true. I've got the reciepts and could list them all off, if you want...
  19. Did he? Because all I remember from that Ravens game was him being beat by Keon friggin' Coleman and drawing a PI flag to prevent more. Tre changes nothing. He either makes the squad as depth, in which case Dane Jackson or Ja'Marcus Ingram is gone, or he's cut after Camp. But in no way is he someone they're relying on, in my opinion.
  20. Key words "up to". I'm willing to bet there's extremely little in terms of guarantees.
  21. I'm thoroughly confused at what you're saying. Christian Benford doesn't want a talented CB opposite him? If you're alleging that every late Round CB can become Christian Benford - why didn't that happen with Rachad Wildgoose, Alex Austin, Dane Jackson, or Daequan Hardy? If you're alleging that every Day 1 or Day 2 CB we take will be as bad as Kaiir Elam - why didn't Tre'Davious White suck?
  22. We have two Drafted and then cut Punter's. Neither is a sure thing. One could be cut as soon as after Mini-Camp, if there's a guy they like in the Draft. We have 10 picks. It's not madness to use one of our last picks on a Punter (where good Punters tend to go). If you can find a Starting Punter you like with your last pick in lieu of a player you're probably just going to cut - I don't think that's crazy at all. Desmond Watson is an UDFA level prospect. And not even a Priority one. There's a reason why you get an "F" when you take him in Mocks, even with our last pick. Just bc he's big doesn't mean he's good. You see size and think "unmovable". But when you're that heavy, if you're able to get him off balance with good technique, you can leverage his weight against him - and make him easier to topple over than someone smaller. If his size equated to him being an unmovable beast, he'd be a higher valued prospect than he is.
  23. That mock wouldn't go down that way irl. If they went DT at 30, they wouldn't sit pat while 5 CB's went between 36-54. He'd have moved up a little before the well ran dry. It was only a double dip in the mock bc there's no system in place for a Bills trade up and the 2nd Round value CB's, DE's, and WR's were all off the board.
