  1. How would you guys feel if TD shocked us by placing Maurice Clarett on the practice squad? Let me preface this by stating that i'm not saying this is something I REALLY want. It was just a thought I had when I was reading some old NFL articles. I noticed that TD said a lot about Maurice in the different combines he was supposed to be involved in. To me, TD sounded pissed off in '04 when he couldn't see him and was praising him BEFORE the combine of '05. I think it would be an interesting project. The guy has a history. But I don't think he was given a fair shot in Denver. He got hurt and then he was cut. If he starts to show signs of his past discourses, cut him. It's a PS spot with a minimum salary. It's not like he'd disrupt anything in that position. Plus, if he showed an ounce of the promise he showed in college he'd make an intriguing prospect at FB when Shelton and/or Burns goes. Just a thought and an opinion. Now i'll just prepare for all the "I've heard of him!" and "NOOOOOOO!!!!" replies.
  2. Not to beat a dead horse but you heard wrong. There are news reports from credible sources stating he has made the team. As well as the fact that you posted it at 5:04 and espn.com (your network source) has nothing on your claim, but they do have a Peerless Price post from 6:10.
  3. QB: J.P. Losman Kelly Holcomb Shane Matthews RB: Willis McGahee Shaud Williams Lionel Gates - Daimon Shelton Joe Burns WR: Eric Moulds Lee Evans (Roscoe Parrish) Josh Reed Sam Aiken Jonathan Smith George Wilson TE: Mark Campbell Tim Euhus Ryan Neufeld OL: Mike Gandy (LT) Bennie Anderson (LG) Trey Teague © Chris Villarial (RG) Mike Williams (RT) - Raymond Preston © Jason Peters (OT) Greg Jerman (OG) Justin Geisinger (OT) DE: Aaron Schobel Chris Kelsay Ryan Denney DT: Sam Adams Ron Edwards Tim Anderson Justin Bannan Lauvale Sape LB: Takeo Spikes London Fletcher Jeff Posey Angelo Crowell Mario Haggan Josh Stamer CB: Nate Clements Terrence McGee Jabari Greer Eric King S: Lawyer Milloy Troy Vincent Coy Wire Rashad Baker Jim Leonhard ST: Brian Moorman (P) Rian Lindell (K) Jon Dorenbas (LS) PUP: Kevin Thomas Kevin Everett Injured Reserve: Lawrence Smith Ben Sobieski I don't understand why we kept 7 WR's on our roster. We usually keep 5 (6 if we have a specialist, I.E. Antonio Brown). I figured we would keep 6 with Roscoe's injury. But 7?! And keeping 5 Safeties isn't necessary in my opinion either. I'm a little worried about depth. We only have 3 DE's and 4 CB's. Plus, only 9 OL and only two of the backups are worth a damn. I hope we pick some guys up. A DE and a new kicker would be nice
  4. You heard wrong. Go to espn.com for ESPN news. As soon as it hits, it's on the site. There's nothing there.
  5. Dude, where the hell are you getting your news from? Absolutely nowhere does it say Rice was cut. Neither nfl.com or denverbroncos.com have anything yet. But this is the official cut list and as you'll see, Rice isn't on it. As a matter of fact, it states: "All three wide receivers thought to be on the bubble, Jerry Rice, Todd Devoe and Charlie Adams, all made the team." http://cbs4denver.com/topstories/local_story_246163644.html kffl.com has the cuts as well and there is no Rice.
  6. No, but I did see him run through a line like a beast, block a punt, and jump on it for a TD. Plays like that usually help.
  7. I know this post will be followed with a million "i've heard of him!" posts; but does anyone think that maybe Ritzman AND Gause were cut because we're interested in Hugh Douglas?
  8. I just watched the 8/31 practice video on bb.com and noticed something interesting. All through training camp, Roscoe Parrish had his arm in a sling. But ont the video, there's no more sling. He seems to be moving his arm around fine. However, it seems he's wearing a thick cast that I hadn't noticed before. So do you think it's good that it's no longer in a sling or bad that he's got a big cast?
  9. I'm getting bored waiting for this last, pointless preseason game and then the week off between it and the regular season. While this offseason was boring at best, I started thinking of next offseason and WHOA! First off, the Nate Clements issue. There's many different ways to look at it. The best situation would be Donahoe and Clement's agent coming to a cap-friendly agreement before 9/11. But the odds of that happening is slim and none. Then we'd have to hope for him sign an extension at the conclusion of the season before the market hits. If he isn't a Bill when the market opens up the only way we're keeping him is to "Franchise" him. If none of those things happen, Nate will be gone. Pure and simple. The amount of money he will demand is going to be staggering and knowing TD there's no way he'll pay the bonus that Nate's looking for. What happens to cap money that isn't used? Apparently, we're sitting on around $5 million in cap money this year. Is there anyway we can use it this year on an extension for Nate? Also, does anyone know what CB's will be UFA's after this year besides Nate? Next, the 2006 NFL Draft. What an interesting draft this is shaping up to be! This year we're going to have a 1st rounder. Not to mention two 3rd rounders. And it probably won't stop there. I figure we'll get an extra 3rd and 4th compensatorily for Jonas and Big Pat (if Denver got two 3rds for the bums they lost, I think we should get at least that). So what should we do with all these picks? We'll get to that in a minute. Eric Moulds. His is a name that is as big a celebrity in Buffalo as it gets. But his age began to show last season. I hope that Eric bounces back this year with JP. But the bottom line is that next year Moulds' staggering salary is even higher. I've heard that it's around 8 million. If that's the case, there's no way he'll be a Bill next season unless he restructures. The problem being Moulds contract has already been restructured at least once. Will he do it again? And if he has a lack-luster year will we even give him the chance? Lee Evans has emerged as our new #1 WR in my eyes and who knows what Roscoe Parrish can do for us. I would not be shocked one bit if this is Eric Moulds' last season as a Buffalo Bill. If it is, do you think we could get anything for him? If he shows some promise this year and TD doesn't want to pay, do you think we could get a late 2nd for him? Back to the draft. If we lose Eric Moulds, I think we'll have to do another year of drafting a WR high. Evans is a stud, but I don't think we drafted Parrish to replace Moulds. I think we would need another WR. Here's what our draft COULD look like: 1st 2nd *2nd (Late for Moulds MAYBE) 3rd 3rd (from Tennessee for Henry) 3rd (compensatory) 4th 4th (compensatory) 5th 6th 7th Here's to hoping that Losman comes on and we have a good year. Realistically, i'm thinking our pick will be somewhere between 13-23. If we have a pick there and package it with some of the MANY picks we'll have, perhaps we can grab a stud. Maybe the top WR taken. If Moulds had to go and we replaced him with the top WR in the draft along with Evans and Parrish, i'd feel comfortable. Reggie Bush is someone i'd be interested in. I know he's listed as a tailback. But I think he'll be drafted as a WR. He's fast as hell and catches like a stud WR. He's on the tiny side for a RB, but look's like a prototype wideout. What do you guys think about him being in the red, white, and blue? If Nate leaves, I wouldn't feel comfortable replacing him with a rookie. His is a position that isn't all that deep and is really green. If we can't resign him, I think we'll need to bring in a veteran from FA. If a STUD OT comes out this year, then I think we'd need to trade up huge to get him. Even if Moulds left. Other than that, let's take a look at the rest of the FA's: C Trey Teague - I think the drafting of Duke makes him expendable depending on how he comes along. DT Ron Edwards - He should be re-signed. He has had a tremendous preseason and has made me forget about Pat. WR Josh Reed - Let him walk. DE Ryan Denney - If we have the room, why not? But is easily replaced. CB Kevin Thomas - Tender him. We do every year it seems like. DT Justin Bannan - Let him walk. RB Joe Burns - Let him walk. LS Jon Dorenbos - Sign him cheap. OL Lawrence Smith - Let him walk. Thoughts?
  10. I was so excited hearing all the rave reviews about Roscoe Parrish. But before I could even see him practice; he gets injured. So this happened on Wednesday, August 9th. He has had surgery on the injury already. Yet no one seems to know what happened or for how long he'll be out? Who has surgery on something without knowing it's hurt for god's sake? They know what's injured and if a doctor has performed an operation on it, he knows how long he'll be out. So how can Mularkey and everyone pretend like they don't know? I keep waiting to hear a timetable and all I keep hearing is, "I don't know". This is dumb. Pure and simple, dumb, dumb, dumbidy dumb dumb. There, I feel better.
  11. TIME OUT! How in the blue hell can you call McGahee soft?! He's one of the premier RB's in the league and a little over two years ago doctor's told him he probably wouldn't ever play again. Are you high?
  12. I'd say let's throw him on the practice squad as well. Although, I don't pretend to know how the squad works. Everytime I think I know the qualifications, something gets changed. But I do know that Tory Woodbury played Special Teams and WR for the Jets coming out of college. So I don't know if we could put him on the squad.
  13. [Very funny! But they said nothing about Maurice Clarett or Jerry Rice
  14. I REALLY disagree that Milloy is overrated. He broke his hand last year and when he came back, he lit it up! I expect big things from him this year. Anyways: Overrated: Terrence McGee, CB Terrence McGee is an all-pro returner, we all know that. But I think he is GREATLY overrated as a CB. People seem to think he's a solid, up and coming talent. But as a starter, I think he's average at best. Underrated: Daimon Shelton, FB He was out of football for a year and when he came back, no one gave him any props (outside of Bills fans). But he deserved it. He did a heck of a job plowing people for Willy and is just an all-around beast that i'd like to see in Bills colors for a long time.
  15. Bills | Baker Signed Thu, 30 Jun 2005 13:32:23 -0700 BuffaloBills.com reports the Buffalo Bills have signed free agent PK/P Steve Baker (Raiders) to an undisclosed contract. Most likely fodder. Anyone know anything about him?
  16. I'm going to have to disagree with you there. I work for Dick's Sporting Goods in Rochester (Marketplace Mall location) and we have IN STOCK, Roscoe Parrish #11 Throwbacks. They almost never OFFICIALLY release a draft pick's jersey for sale until that player has made a final decision on his number.
  17. Bears | Jones Waived Tue, 28 Jun 2005 14:49:51 -0700 Larry Mayer, of Chicago Bears.com, reports the Chicago Bears have waived PK Tyler Jones. -Everyone here was very high on this kid, as was I. I was shocked that he wasn't drafted as everyone had him as the 2nd best Kicker coming out of the draft besides Nugent. He became expendable after the Bears signed Paul Edinger. I would LOVE for him to tryout for Buffalo. Chiefs | Contract Was Offered to Law Mon, 27 Jun 2005 22:29:46 -0700 Updating ongoing reports, according to Sports Illustrated's Peter King, free agent CB Ty Law (Patriots) has confirmed that he turned down a big-money contract offer from the Kansas City Chiefs earlier in the offseason. "Before they signed (CB Patrick Surtain), the Chiefs gave me, like, a $42 million offer. But it was structured so bad that I'd probably only make $10 million before they'd cut me. So I didn't do it.'' -Do I really have to say anything about that? If anyone thinks TD is going to give Law a better offer than that then they're high! -I work at the Dick's location of Marketplace Mall in Rochester. Today when I came in I noticed that they had a bunch of #11 throwback jersey's on the shelf. They were Roscoe Parrish jerseys. I thought this was a little odd because we usually don't see them until the player is signed. But I thought i'd just pass that along.
  18. He hasn't resigned with them and has no-showed mini-camp along with Javon Walker. But Green Bay slapped a Transition tag on him so it will be difficult for someone else to sign him. We did it with Spikes, but he REALLY wanted out of Cincinnatti. I think Bubba just wants some more cash.
  19. NFL | Big Money Not There for Boulware Fri, 24 Jun 2005 19:12:13 -0700 John Clayton, of ESPN.com, reports free agent LB Peter Boulware (Ravens) is struggling to get an offer in excess of $1 million in the post-May free agency market. Reportedly, some teams remained concerned with Boulware's health. Boulware hasn't played in more than a year due to knee and toe injuries. NFL | Verba Receiving Minimum Salary Offers Fri, 24 Jun 2005 13:52:46 -0700 Len Pasquarelli, of ESPN.com, reports free agent OT Ross Verba (Browns) has suggested he wants a contract worth $6-7 million per year, but has seen only minimum-salary offers so far. Texans | Still Trying to Land Verba? Fri, 24 Jun 2005 18:36:50 -0700 John Clayton, of ESPN.com, reports the Houston Texans remain interested in free agent OT Ross Verba (Browns), but are unwilling to offer more than a one-year contract to the offensive tackle. As reported, Verba has said he's seeking a five-year contract worth in the neighborhood of $37.5 million. Lions | Unlikely to Sign Law Fri, 24 Jun 2005 10:22:08 -0700 FOXSports.com reports while Detroit Lions team president Matt Millen would still like to sign free agent CB Ty Law (Patriots), the Lions could only afford him at a low price, which is unlikely to happen. Jaguars | More on Law Visit Fri, 24 Jun 2005 06:06:56 -0700 Vito Stellino, of the Florida Times-Union, reports Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Jack Del Rio said the Jaguars' staff had dinner with free agent CB Ty Law (Patriots) Wednesday night, June 22 before he worked out Thursday, June 23. "We had a good visit and we'll continue to monitor the situation,'' he said. Del Rio declined to comment on the condition of Law's foot injury that sidelined him the second half of last year. Chiefs | Still Monitoring Law Fri, 24 Jun 2005 13:55:18 -0700 Len Pasquarelli, of ESPN.com, reports the Kansas City Chiefs continue to monitor the recovery of free agent CB Ty Law (Patriots). I know we don't need a LB with Spikes and Fletcher here. But god damn! Peter Boulware can't get a $1 million contract?! With Posey becoming a UFA soon and him not producing very well, why not sign Boulware cheap? Spikes, Fletcher, and Boulware? That would be crazy! I think Ross Verba is going to learn VERY soon that he's not going to make anywhere's near what he thought he was going to. Once he admits that to himself, I think TD wouldn't be wrong in signing him for 1.5 mil a year. I put in that stuff about Ty Law for all the people here that want the Bills to sign him so badly. He's been recieving minimum contract offers from the Dolphins and others. The Lions want him but can't afford him. He'll most likely land in Jacksonville or Kansas City. It's a lot more likely that we'll see Bobby Taylor in a Bills uni then Law.
  20. I don't think the guy is finished. Looking at his stats from last season, he doesn't look that bad. Do I think he should be our #1 guy? No. But for depth, it couldn't hurt to have him as our #2 or #3. Honestly, i'm not that sold on Terrence McGee as a solid starter.
  21. One way or another huh? lol Honestly, I think i'll pass on an LT who is the same age as Sam Adams and Marshall Faulk.
  22. Has anyone ever called you a dick before? Just wondering
  23. Are you saying you like Charlie Frye in Round 2 over Aaron Rodgers in Round 1? Interesting suggestion. I disagree however. I'd much rather have Losman/Parrish or Rodgers/Clayton then Frye/Clayton.
  24. Now before you start pouring gasoline on me and lighting a match, hear me out. I am a J.P. Losman fan. I'm even wearing a Losman away jersey as we speak (that I bought last year at training camp before he was named starter and everyone and their mother bought one. But that's another story for another time). But I started looking over the drafts from this year and last year and it got me thinking. What if we had never made the trade for J.P.? What would this year's draft look like? Who could we have picked with last year's 2nd? Well first of all, J.P. Losman would be a member of the Green Bay Packers. We would have kept the 52nd pick in the draft. At that spot we could have picked Michael Boulware at Safety, Nate Kaeding could have been our Kicker this year, or if we were really hell-bent on drafting a QB of the future in '04; we could have snagged Matt Schaub in Round 2 or 3. But i'd have gone a different route...... We would have kept pick #20 in 2005. With that we could have drafted Matt Jones or Mark Clayton. I bet we'd have picked Jones, but I think Clayton would have been a better pick. From there, we could have EASILY done the same trade we did on 2004 for Losman in 2005. We may have even gotten away with trading less than we did last year, this year. With Losman a Packer, Aaron Rodgers falls even farther than #24. We package 2006's 1st with 2005's 2nd and Aaron Rodgers is our QB of the future. Of course then we're stuck with Bledsoe. A horrible tragedy; or is it?...... With Bledsoe back on board, we'd have the opportunity to pick up exactly where we left off the year before. But this time, if he began to faulter; we'd have Kelly Holcomb or Aaron Rodgers to take over. So the question is, which would you prefer?: What we have: J.P. Losman Roscoe Parrish (Nothing in 2004 Rd. 2) (2006 1st Rounder) What we could have had: Aaron Rodgers Matt Jones/Mark Clayton Michael Boulware/Nate Kaeding/Matt Schaub (No 2006 First Rounder) I like what we have and am a J.P. Losman fan. But honestly, it's tough to say that I definitely wouldn't have gone without the Losman trade.
