Gumbel and Green were horrible last night
FLFan replied to Mister Defense's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
They clearly mailed it in. It’s almost like they realized that absolutely no one was watching this game outside of fans of the two teams. The only reason CBS was broadcasting this game is they are required to by contract. If I was them, I would demand to be exempted from preseason duty in my next contract. It received the attention it deserved. -
A Few Thoughts about the PRESEASON Game, In no particular order
FLFan replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Just because you were bored with it does not mean it was a waste of time for the team. Not at all. The first team offense had gotten virtually no running game work in the first two games. Josh needs these reps as much as he does the passing reps. Reading the defense, making line calls, controlling the pace, etc. Just keeping his patience faced with difficult down and distance and limited passing opportunities is also a skill to be evaluated. (He failed that one). Certainly the OL and running backs needed this. Although I do not expect this to a normal offensive game plan, there will be times in games, and perhaps even particular weeks, when it will be the game plan. You need to be able to run when when you want to, and convert when you have to. I think we saw what the offense is capable of with the two minutes drill at the end of the half. -
Reminder; we’re on national TV tonight! PreGame Thread
FLFan replied to Chandler#81's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It is something he said early on, during/before OTAs. It was surprising to me at the time and I was surprised not more was made of it. I am not sure what it means in terms of their thoughts on his future with the team. Perhaps nothing. -

That was the plan from the beginning of the year, according to McD. -

That sucks. Free trial of Game Pass? (Or have you already burned that bridge?) -
Tom Terrific? Not so fast.

This may be the final preseason game for Josh Allen
FLFan replied to HOUSE's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Obviously. I am assuming Allen will not play in the last preseason game. I would not lay Barkley either. Sign a street free agent if they have to. -
Always loved Paul Maguire. My best memory is after the the Bills Championship victory over the Raiders in the first Super Bowl year. It had been a long day, but Maguire was guesting on a weekly Sunday night post game radio show at a downtown Buffalo hotel, hosted by Bob Costas. They were doing the show live from a sound booth in the bar. We we were still euphoric and not ready to quit celebrating so we showed up at the bar and it was quite the party. Maguire was trashed but carried off the show. When it was over, we walked up and introduced ourselves to he and Costas. It turns out they were heading directly to Kelly’s house for the post game party. (It was after 11:00 by this time). We did our best best to get invited but no go. In any case, it was a trip to meet Maguire. Really cool guy.

This may be the final preseason game for Josh Allen
FLFan replied to HOUSE's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think it is likely to be Jackson for all but maybe one of two series. If I was McD, I would not play Barkley at all. They clearly cannot afford to lose him, as there is no way Jackson is ready to play a real NFL game if Allen gets hurt. -
Barnwell - Realistic 2019 goals for the NFL's 10 worst teams
FLFan replied to Steve O's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
What it seems like to me is a typical lazy analysis focused on many of the wrong factors and always taking the negative view, with a faulty premise. Consider that “10 worst teams” puts the Bills right back at 6/10. There is no logic to that at all. Your homer barb is insulting and just as lazy. Most people who are seriously following this team, fans or not, and looking beyond the “well, it’s the Bills” conventional wisdom would be very surprised indeed if the Bills manage only 6 wins, barring unforeseen disastrous injuries, etc. Try not to break a leg climbing onto the bandwagon when this looks appropriately silly by mid year. -
Would you trade a 1 for Zeke?
FLFan replied to 78thealltimegreat's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree and have no problem with Zeke playing this the way he is if he thinks it is in his best interest, although it would seem that Bell’s experience should be something of a cautionary note to these guys. I simply do not believe that committing a first round draft choice and a huge contract to a RB is in the Bills best interest at this time. It would be the wrong move. -

FLFan replied to 78thealltimegreat's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Never. Wrong position for a top end contract. The first round choice is much more valuable to this team at this time than any running back. -
I am about to. I dropped Sunday Ticket last year. The ongoing dispute with Nexstar is the last straw for me. It is only going to continue to degrade in customer satisfaction and increase in price under AT&T. **** them indeed.

And there was much rejoicing .... About time.

Good Night / Bad Night - Pre-Season Game 1
FLFan replied to GunnerBill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If Bodine is playing Center for this team at any point, we are in trouble. Either Felciano or Long will be the back up center. When they are healthy, Bodine is third string, which he should be. -
Morse is absolutely the key. Without solid play at center the Bills offense will continue to be pedestrian and will struggle. You can see it already in camp. If we have to watch Bodine at Center again, it is going to be a long year.

Bills Training Camp Day 6 - 7/31
FLFan replied to SlimShady'sSpaceForce's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You do realize that the whistle blows for a sack in practice well before the issue is decided, right? Apparently Prescott Rossi, whoever the heck he is, does not. -
Yes, but did you see that happen last year?

Saw that - I did not read on before responding. Sorry for the superfluous correction. -
Bills Training Camp: Day 4 - 7/28
FLFan replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Agree it is too early to worry, but as I recall, Foster made the initial 53 based on his camp performance and then was cut based on poor performance and lack of focused effort. It is disappointing to see him take a step back. -
Bills Training Camp: Day 3 - 7/27
FLFan replied to EmotionallyUnstable's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Ok, then let’s stop pretending that it matters. Here is a revelation: it is the third day of training camp and none of the action thus far is realistic or necessarily predictive of what will happen in reality. People are calling you out for your very predictable negative hot take on results so far, as they should based on your history. You should understand that you are the one projecting unrealistic expectations in this scenario. -
No, Schopp was an advocate of keeping Tyrod last year. He always indicated he thought Tyrod was undervalued and the Bills should not have expended so many resources in getting a QB last year. In other words, delusional.
