Yep, Cleveland is stuck in QB purgatory right now, you built too good of a team to fail hard enough to get a good pick, but you don’t have the guy that can get you over the hump. They are set up for years of 9-8, with the occasional glimmer of hope, maybe pulling off the 12 wins on a years when their NFC schedule is putrid and they will keep trying to find the one piece to get them over the hump. Meanwhile, Cincy has a core that’s going to destroy them for years. This is the problem with not having the right QB, we had it here for years, just good enough to never tank, never good enough to actually contend. Baker is (at least the current version of him) the equivalent of a slightly stronger armed Fitzpatrick. That’s to say, there are games where he’s great, but those costly mistakes when it comes to crunch time will kill you. Look at Fitz with the Jets, as front runners he’d bury you, but there’s not a QB in the league you would rather face than Fitz and Now Baker late in the game, when they had to make it happen. Jackson is essentially a modern Vick with less of an arm. I think he also puts you in purgatory, but he also gives you chances that nobody else can. I wouldn’t want him as my franchise, but once you have him, it’s next to impossible to let it go. I could see him finding lightning in a bottle and winning a SB, but I really doubt it. The D will have to be exceptional and the opponents will have to have the right weakness’s and a LOT will have to bounce their way for it to happen.

I think the whole QBR makes as much sense as Jackson over Allen for ProBowl. I understand there were 3 picks, but the number should account for drops too if it’s going to be reflective of the QB. If you go back and give Josh the passes his receivers flat out dropped while being hit in the hands his stat line is way different. You are looking at probably 250 yards, 2 TD passes and 3 ints. Of the ints, 1 I blame on his arm arrogance (see what I did there?), where he through the could just throw it through the defender at the line, 1 which he probably could/should have thrown away on the scramble and the other where Beas clearly wasn’t on the same page, I don’t know who to put them all on, but I credit him with 2 for sure. Now he also might not have had the day running the ball that he did because he could have trusted somebody to catch a damn ball, but he strapped up and won that game. That QBR stat is pure garbage. Side note, is Davis the only receiver on the team that actually catches the ball anymore? I’m cringing every time the ball goes anywhere but him. Diggs, drop in the hands MULTIPLE times this year, dude looks like a dome only player this season. Knox started off well and has lost it, Sanders has dropped a number of balls and Beasley just makes up his own mind on catching it or never putting his hands up, it’s crazy how bad the Receivers have regressed this year. I think they got full of themselves. I don’t know if Sanders has been a problem with it to, but there’s NO GRIT at all outside of Davis this year. Last year, they were junk yard dogs, they got their ass beat in the playoffs and have never been the same since. Hopefully, this year we see the opposite, they come into the playoffs to beat some ass and play the way we know they can.

That’s probably the best comparison out there really. Both really good at both facets of the game, Josh obviously a little bigger/stronger, but very similar skill sets.

Jackson will get a big contract, they just have to hope this isn’t the start of a lot of injury issues. Not saying I want him as my QB, just looking at the infatuation with the guy, I think he gets paid. I would let Baker play it out. He has steadily regressed, I’d risk it with him.. if he kills it, tag him and get a deal done, if not move on. If you can’t figure it out in 5 years, I’m not waiting anymore.

Dude is a missile in a straight line, rumor has it he’s been working with Moss on using his blockers, only good things can come of this.

Harrison Philips: how important is it for the Bills to re-sign him?
DCofNC replied to Beerball's topic in The Stadium Wall
He’s not a starting DT, only reason he has ever started was as an injury replacement. He’s been largely a non factor in the time he’s been in the league. Nobody is paying him big money, Bills included. He’s not a starting DT, only reason he has ever started was as an injury replacement. Yeah pretty much lol

Would LOVE to have him w the Bills next year as a McKenzie replacement or as an RB 2, always has had a ton of ability, seems to finally have found a legitimate spot on Offense now. Better than Smith ever was at the same type of role.
-
Literally not a single impact player on the list. Wouldn’t mind seeing Wallace, Zimmer, MT, McKenzie, back, but no real losses if any of them get offered any real deals. I like McKenzie, but apparently he’s not a favorite of McClappy.
-
Those guys actually got on the field AND produced. The guy has played in 43 Games in 4 years, and has a whopping 101 tackles, and a HALF of a sack. The guys that got paid were actually impactful. Outside of Buffalo fans, nobody thinks he’s a “good” player. His own coaches don’t want him on the field, hence he’s a back up and in a rotation. Nobody is paying him anything, he’s a fringe NFL player at this point in his career. If you honestly think he’s going to get paid, I’m beyond glad you aren’t in the front office.
-
If you can’t beat 2 teams w less combined wins than you have, the playoffs don’t matter.
-
The guy has never been healthy and been a moderately effective rotational player for about half a season. Shaq had a very productive year, generating sacks, the year before he hit FA. There’s absolutely no comparison, nobody is paying him big money. Might as well toss in 3rd rounders they intend to draft RBs with too. Really need the DEs to get to the QB, I actually think they do almost too well at edge containment, in that they never get inside the edge in the first place. At very least Groot gets to runners out there. Everyone else seems to miss them even as they are right there.
-
Whatever, he gets paid, Bills win, all is good.
-
Ohhh you said bad words about Beane’s drafting, you are in troubbbble! Personally, I couldn’t agree more, lots of suspect picks. No way Harry is getting that much, he’s a low end replacement. He’ll be lucky to get 3.5 a year. Wouldn’t be shocked to see him back at vet min for 1 year.

Big Ben might, might not, maybe, but probably retiring.

Makes entirely too much sense to me, he would be perfect for them and vise versa. -
Man has he ever shown a downright fear to make a change mid-year.. I agree, I think Bease is falling off some, but we’ll see.

Anybody that questions a guy taking an active roster spot, regardless of with what team is nuts. Any chance to increase that paycheck and possibly put something on film in a real game is far more valuable than hoping it MIGHT workout if you stick it out with the current team. Worst case scenario, if you have made a good impression you probably will get another shot with the old club in TC next year, or best case, you impress and get a real contract. Not that it was a great audition, but like how it worked for Fromm, from no chance to play to starting in a couple weeks. He blew it, but that could have been his big break. If he had performed, he would likely have gotten to start the rest of the year and earned a decent deal for next year as a back-up or possibly a starter battle.

Assuming Davis is healthy, he should be starting and getting the lion’s share of the snaps over the aging prophet. Beasley will get his spot back, he’s the vet, he’s shown for years he has what it takes to win on a consistent basis, but I sure hope McK keeps getting snaps, he’s not Tyreek Hill, but he sure does make the D have to be more aware when he’s out there, especially when he’s in motion pre-snap. I’d like to see them run some Jet Sweeps with him and have Allen peeling off the other direction, always give the ball to him, save the Allen keeper for the playoffs. Maybe use it to set up a flea flicker later as well. If McK has it in him to throw, I’d like to see him in the sweep and throw one down field, again, put the fear in the coordinators going forward, slow down the reaction speeds a little as we get close to critical games. It’s a great time to do it, if there is a mistake they SHOULD overcome it against the 2 bad teams left on the schedule. The other thing that could be fun is to have him and Bease run parallel mirrored routes underneath the LBs and have them split at the top of the route, one coming under one going over or out and force the D to read who’s going where, worst case the TE should be open if the D finds both of them. Anyway, point of story, I hope he’s not the Christmas toy that’s lost in the closet by New Years.

Gotta love guys that are so valuable you can’t play them. If he’s good enough to be on the field then he belongs on the field, that’s like playing Turbiski all year because you want to save Allen for when you really need him. I’m not giving this staff the benefit of the doubt on personnel, they have proven not to deserve that, more than once.

Josh Allen doesn’t have a single first round pick on offense
DCofNC replied to 78thealltimegreat's topic in The Stadium Wall
Used a first on Diggs, that has to count or we would have a 1st round WR on the team ( probably the guy that got taken with our pick, who is outplaying Diggs no less). -
I would disagree, you saw what happens to a team when the other isn’t afraid of a pass, it takes a miracle to score. If they all lost their starters right now, it’s STILL KC, then Buffalo (thanks to MT being a decent BU), then I think it jumps to Miami, and Baltimore if they make it in. You have to look at who would be in and how much they rely on QBs, KC has had success with a back up, Buffalo has MT who is a borderline starter, the Fins don’t rely on the QB and have arguably the best BU in football, and the kid in Baltimore looks pretty good so far, plus they are a run centric team. Indy is going to complete inexperience, no good. The Pats should not be forgot as they haven’t really forced the QB to do much all year anyway.
-
I’m hoping it’s a case where they are getting hot at the right time. They found it for a good stretch last year, would be nice if this one came for the playoffs, not starting to die in the playoffs.

This is what they are saying in New England Land
DCofNC replied to DefenseWins's topic in The Stadium Wall
Let’s be straight, they have a rookie QB and a system built for him to not be exposed much. The Bills have an elite QB and a questionable system with a complete trash O-Line in front of him. Sometimes, their system will win, most times, we are going to kick their balls in. The National Media was ALL over Allen’s nuts last year, now it’s going to swing back if he keeps playing like this, you will here about the “ProBowl Snub” giving him the “motivation” to win. The reality is, he’s been over motivated all year, he FINALLY, took what was there and got rid of the ball. I do t know if that’s him or Daboll or both, but if he does that, the team is much harder to defend. His running lanes will be wide open, his deep shots will open up and some of those short throws will end in chunk plays, not to mention the play action game will open up and the run game will improve, also the OL will appear better simply bc they do t have to block for so long. He and Maholmes are one in the same really, if they take the easy stuff, the crazy ***** is a great bonus, if they force it all the time, they are going to struggle. -

Mods, I’m pre-removing a reply to this for you, but he had best be getting the same warning I would.
