  1. Let's for a moment assume he is as good at pass coverage in the middle of the field as you suggest. How did that help against NE, Tenn, and how do you think it would help if they play the Colts again?. Teams can adjust to what he does poorly. I have been a long time skeptic of Edmunds and got fooled once again with a few decent games this year. Once again last week he showed he is a truly awful LB. You can't pay him Bobby Wagner money and have him suck at half his job. If he wasn't a first round pick and Beane didn't want to look bad for trading up to get him, he'd be jettisoned this off season. As for picking up the option, I 100% agree it was the right move then. Have no issues with that decision. As for moving to OLB I would love to see him play there a few games. With his speed I think he could be a terror rushing the passer. The argument against that is that he has not shown any pass rushing skill. But that is rushing from the middle which is wholey different than from the outside.
  2. I would trade him this off season. He has value to some moron GM that will think they can get him to play better and he is still young. They can probably get a low first rounder or high second round pick. Maybe a player and a second round pick. If they give him a long term deal this off-season they are really stupid. Picking up the option made sense. He has still not proven he is worthy of a long term deal. Make him play the last year of his deal if you can't or don't want to trade him.
  3. Yes I'm sure they do. And if they play Mike White or Jacob Brissett every week I'm sure they will stay #1. #1 defense gave up 200+ rushing yards when they knew they were running the ball. Let's see what Tampa does to them. Love the optimism. I hope they win and Allen can carry the team if needed. If they are going to lose I hope it is another embarrassing loss so we can really see what McD does when the pressure gets even more intense.
  4. But we don't have a strong D. Why do people keep saying that? They only look good playing scrub QBs. Wait until Brady and all his skill people torches them for 40+ points.
  5. So sad that this year has a gone from SB contender to trying to figure out how the Bills even make the playoffs.
  6. Once you have the QB you should trade down at every opportunity. The draft is pure luck. None of the GMs know anymore than any of the others. Just get more bites at the apple. That's the only way to succeed. If the Jets had taken Allen, Beane almost assuredly takes Darnold or Rosen and he would have already lost his job.
  7. They are sleepwalking to missing out on the playoffs
  8. Cmon this is not even close to accurate. The Bills have issues but they are a handful of players away not a complete rebuild. If Brown is a capable RT, then you only need to look at upgrading at worst the two guard spots. Again I would move Dawkins to G and get an OT, but if they don;t then Dawkins is still capable of playing LT. Morse is good enough at center for another year. Both safeties are playing at a very high level and they have actually decent depth behind them. The window is wide open. The cap is going up next year. Groot looks liek he is a capable DE. They need 2 OL, 1 DT, a # 3WR for sure. I would trade Edmunds and replace him but I don't think that will happen.
  9. Most people including many around here were saying the same thing about Allen in year 2. I dont think Tua has anywhere near the skill set Allen does but I also am not predicting he will succeed or fail. Still too small of a sample size.
  10. OP dig a little deeper than the win-loss record. The losses this year have been awful. The wins have come against doormats. A SB season is turning into a struggle just to make the playoffs. They have had some injuries but no more or less than others. McDermott and Beane are just average. Maybe that's ok. Maybe that is the best we can ask for. They got the QB. My gut tells me McDermott will never win a SB. I hope I am wrong.
  11. Ok except none of this is really true. He did have strong O-lines from time to time but no all time greats in front of him. He had journeymen RB's for most of his career. He made two midget WR's into stars in Edelman and Welker. It was not the other way around. And outside of Randy Moss his WRs were forgettable. Brady left New England for exactly all of the opposite reasons you posted. He was tired of carrying the entire load of the offense. That said, that is what Buffalo needs to do. Stop takin g the ball out of Josh's hand. The entire offense needs to go through him. If they want to get the RBs involved do it via the short pass and screen game. The only way to win the SB this year is run everything through Allen. That does not mean you have to be in 5 WR sets. You can play a ton of different formations and still keep the focus on Allen. For the most part he makes good safe decisions. Give him the chance to be special.
  12. Sad news. I was unaware of his ST tackle total.
  13. I said the same thing during the game. Daboll rightly deserves some criticism but there were many plays the players failed on. A run on first down when it was obvious it was four downs to get a first down or score was a fine call. Better execution and that is a TD or at least a 5-7 yard gain.
  14. OP. I get the frustration. And I am a McDermott skeptic. But he is a decent coach and this franchise has been much much worse. I don't think McDermott will win the SB and I think Beane is not aggressive enough to win now. But go watch any video clip from 1985 or look at the moves Marv Levy made as GM. It could be much worse. That said I am unabashedly win now at all costs. The window with Allen is going to slam shut soon. That is why I get rid of McDermott now and go all in this off season. I am willing to risk it getting worse for the chance they win it all with a real coach.
  15. Sad but this is true. D is a fraud. But there is nothing to believe Mac Jones is any better than the other fraud QBs this defense has beaten. Brady will destroy us by 30. And then we will pound the Pats after the Colts beat them up too. It will save McDermott job.
  16. I will be posting opposite of what I said at the time of the draft. I was beating the drum for Najee Harris. Then I thought Ford was the answer at LG. But I've come to my senses. They need to get younger and better on the o-line. Brown looks like he can play. It is time to end Dawkins at LT. Move him to LG and draft an elite OT in the first round. Then sign a top 3 OG in free agency. Morse is ok for another year. Keep Williams as a guy who can play G or OT. He will be expensive but is insurance at multiple spots.
  17. It was an odd run defensive effort. They got gashed once and had several 10 yard gains. But they also had several tackles for loss. They held them to 1 TD and two FGs. Star was invisible but he is even when he is playing well. He is not a penetrating DT. Edmunds was the worst player on the field by far.
  18. It depends when Allen is out of the pocket. Once he is out of the pocket they can mug the WR
  19. Monday morning quartebacking. As much crap as I give Beane I thought this last offseason was his finest. He brought back Milano and Williams and got guys to take pay cuts. They had no more money to spend and got good value out of Spencer Brown The big error was the bet on Ford. He was supposed to step up and return from injury and be a good guard. He's a bust. The other error is TE#2 Tommy Sweeney and Gilliam. Both of these guys are awful. Neither belong on a NFL roster. They have no good blocking TE. Lastly they have a two back to back second round picks in Epenesa and Basham that have done nothing. You can't keep missing on guys that high in the draft. Beane gets one more off season from me before I'm done with him.
  20. I didn't know the 4th quarter had more minutes in it than the third quarter
  21. Having Hyde not fair catch the punts cost them some yards. The Breida fumble was brutal. Then benching him for Moss was a dumb decision.
  22. It's not about what McD has done. You have to believe he can win the SB or not. That is all that matters. Five years of 10 wins and no SB is not success. We have had that already. The fan base and the city wants a championship. If you believe McDermott can do it there are signs of prior success that he can. If you believe as I do that he is closer to Dungy in Tampa and Schottenheimer in Cleveland, San Diego, and KC then you should move on to another head coach. My immediate 2022 choice was Lincoln Riley but that ship had sailed.
  23. Maybe we need to stop saying they have a more talented roster than the opponents they lose to. If that is really the case then it all comes down to coaching. Im fien with getting rid of McDermott. I've thought he was a fraud for a long time.. But that is too simplistic. The fact is outside of a few players the talent is just not there. Edmunds is trash and proved it on a national stage last night. The LB depth after Milano is terrible. The entire o-line is awful at run blocking. There is not one linemen that can move a defender off the ball. Enough has been said about the lack of talent at RB spot. And despite what all the metrics say, this d-line can not generate a pass rush.
  24. That is what I saw too. They had four plays to get a first down or score a TD. Had Moss gotten 4 or 5 yards on first they have three more downs to run any plays they want. Of all the run plays called I was fine with that call. Especially as Josh had been beating them they might have been caught not playing the run. A better RB makes a good gain there.
  25. Do you really believe McDermott is the coach to win a SuperBowl? He burned a challenge on a QB sneak that no one from either sideline could see the player or the ball. If it is 100% on the players, then is Beane culpable in this mess? Other teams made moves to get better at the trade deadline. Bills didn’t make a move with obvious issues at TE, DT, RB, and OG. This team was a SuperBowl pick. If they don’t make the playoffs then is anyone held accountable? Or do you just give McD another year? How many years ? First I thought McDermott was Dungy with Tampa. Now I’m thinking he is at best Marty Schottenheimer.
