  1. Firts, there are very few teams in the NFL that can withstand the loss of the starting QB. Saints got lucky last year, but only because Bridgewater was coming off injury. They now have Winston as a back up. Great move by them. Dalton to the Cowboys is also a great move. I agree with the general idea the OP stated. The Bills could do better at backup QB with Winston or Dalton. However, there are very few other teams in the NFL that are any better at backup QB.
  2. Peyton Manning the first year with the Broncos would disagree. One year removed from neck surgery he put up amazing numbers and went to the SB. He was a shell of himself 24 months later.
  3. Agree. All the pieces are there. It’s 75% on Allen and 15% on Daboll and 10% on McD to get the offense to produce more points. Why? He is an 8 year veteran and had no problem learning an NFL offense as a rookie.
  4. Bills D handled Brady fine last year and went 0-2.
  5. Agree on their WR group - worst in the league. If BB can get 9 wins out of that team and their schedule he should be coach of the year. Bills should still get to 10-6 and win division with an equally hard schedule. But if they go 0-2 against Patriots they will blow it.
  6. Agree YPA is a great sta for QBs. Here Newton has a career 7.3 and Allen is 6.6. My point is not to knock Allen. He has only played two years and appears to be on the rise. And Newton is coming off two years of injuries. My point is that Newton has been a great QB at times and very good most of the time. He should not be dismissed. Put it another way if Allen was hurt what other free agent QB option would have been better than Newton? Winston? Bridgewater, maybe.
  7. Just for emphasis Josh Allen has a career 1.42 TD/INT ratio. So even after removing Newton's best season he is still ahead of Allen. Ok got it. Thanks.
  8. Same people on this board that said Gilmore sucked are now saying Newton will be terrible in New England. I said before if it was for only a year I would take Newton over Allen in a heartbeat. But Allen is the future and he has all the pieces he needs to jump into top 10 QB territory. All the pressure is on McD and Allen now. New England with Cam is now the team to beat in AFC East.
  9. You mean the top 5 scoring offense in the league and #1 rush offense three years in a row was "pretty limited"? Rex destroyed a top 3 defense. That team had enough skill to make the playoffs multiple times. Jauron's teams played hard. Marv as GM is what killed those teams. I won't defend the Jauron hire as he mostly awful but it was Levy as GM that was the real problem. He set the franchise back 5 years easily.
  10. I spoke with Drew Bledsoe about Williams. He was a total dick. Worst coach Bills have ever had.
  11. My thread for the first Bill to test positive was closed. It's only a matter of time before a Bills' player tests positive . There is no way NCAA or NFL football will be played this year.
  12. Like Luke Skywalker said, Everything you said is wrong. The mortality rate for COVID will be incredibly difficult to know because the true denominator for those infected is an unknown. However the best estimates is that the mortality rate is probably twice that of influenza. That the highest mortality rates are in elderly and comorbid patients does not change the rate. Masks are not meant to protect the person wearing the mask. They are meant to decrease the transmission of virus by people that are shedding the virus either asymptomatic or symptomatic. The 1918 pandemic killed 50 million people worldwide and 675,000 in the US. Many of the same measures proposed now were used in 1918 as well including mandatory masking. It's not gospel. Its science. Its science with lots of holes in the data and an evolving understanding of the data. But it is fact based not gospel. The whole point of combating the pandemic, is that to each thier own is not acceptable. I'm sure 30 days ago you would have referenced Sweden's approach. But it is now recognized that Sweden's approach was a total failure. I truly hope there is football this fall, but simply opening economies in Arizona, Texas, and Florida has shown how complex and risky the process can be.
  13. I will guess Ed Oliver. He lives in Texas which is blowing up with new cases.
  14. The article states he has not played like a top 10 guy. This is all about potential. He has a long way to go to be top 10 linebacker. He isn't even in top 10 of middle linebackers yet. He has flashed a few times but still takes bad angles. I still say he should be an OLB. I think he would be a top 5 OLB right now.
  15. No Place kickers are the only special teams positions that should be in HOF
  16. There is nothing wrong with running the ball after a turnover. There is little more demoralizing play in the NFL than having the ball run over your defense and the clock ticking away. Execute.
  17. Good catch on the Eagles. I recall they had a losing record at the time they played but they did win the NFC East down the stretch. He’s 25-25 as HC. So yes he deserves some credit and he has done some good things. But my point was it’s still too early to tell if he will get this team a championship.
  18. I was going to say the same thing. All the AFC teams have difficult schedules. 10-6 surely will win the division and 9 wins may wrap it up by mid Decemebr if the Patriots fall apart. Dolphins are well coached but a couple years away. Jets are terribly coached but still may have the best QB in the division. I still like Allen over Darnold and did before the draft. But so far neither is truly ahead of the other. Maybe both will get better this year and they will battle each other for a number of years. Will be interesting to see what happens
  19. There is so little chance of a NFL season at this point. Cases are on the rise in every state that has opened up. Clemson lost a quarter of its roster to Covid. Just a matter of time before significant outbreaks in NFL players occur
  20. I’m sorry but the jury is still out on McD as a HC. Bills had a joke of a schedule last year. They lost games to non-playoff teams in Cleveland and Philadelphia. They were losing the home opener before the Jets lost their MLB. And has been pointed out they choked in the playoffs. He has yet to beat Belichick in six attempts despite doing a good job against Brady. But his team plays hard though his defense collapses at times. He has seemingly found the right balance between motivator, teacher, and just enough accountability. I believe he puts too much emphasis on ST Role players and not enough on pass rushers. He has no excuses. This is the team he wanted. Only an AFC East title and deep playoff run will be acceptable.
  21. Lawson outplayed Murphy the last two years yet McD kept starting Murphy. Made no sense. Obviously we don't have all the facts but we watch the games and can see who made plays and who didn't.
  22. I agree they will be better than most people think. Maybe 9 wins. This board will collectively and probably rightly so lose their sh#t if Bill's lose first Patriots game at home. I've not seen this idea before but it has merit.
  23. Oh my, that is an impressively unpopular take. I have not had an RC Cola in 40 years. Have never seen on the shelves it in the Pacific NW
  24. Lee Smith is actually a good role player on this team. He is a superior inline blocker. He had 9 penalties (8 accepted/1 declined) last year which is the big knock against him. Interestingly though 7 of those were in three games - all losses to NE(3), Phil(2), and Clev(2). For reference Dawkins had 12, Ford had 10, and Morse had 9 called against them. Now these three are on the filed more far more than Smith which still makes his penalties frustrating. I think he still makes the team with Knox, Kroft, and Sweeney goes to the PS one more time. I can see them letting Smith go and carrying an extra OT especially if the kid from UW pans out. I'd be fine with that scenario but I do think Smith deserves a bit more credit on this board for his play than most give him. Interested to see what others have to post
