Flash against guys bagging groceries now. Coleman and White looked good in training camp too. That said Davis had looked so bad, I'd be fine letting Gore dress for a game. Nickel requires change of direction and short distance quickness in addition to tackling. Tre has none of those qualities. I'd rather see him get a shot at safety than nickel.

He was never meant to be a starter here. He will not be back

Go ahead and flame away, but the AFC was a far weaker conference during the Bills run. The AFC is the better conference now. If KC were to make four in a row now, it would be the greater accomplishment.

37 of the 90 players don't even make the roster. The vast majority of the core has been here for years. Bonds are already formed in the offseason when many are already training in Buffalo. Training camps out of town like the preseason are relics of a long gone era. The Bills like most teams get more out of joint practices than they get from preseason games. Time to move on. I don't need my MVP QB sleeping in a dorm room.

Sorry but the WRs are terrible and Brady is not good at his job. Allen saves him and a few out patterns to Shakir that he broke a ton of tackles for scores skews the data. We can watch the games for ourselves. Shakir and Kincaid should be getting double digit targets per game. No different than Gronk and Edelman. Just copy the Patriots.

State of the art facilities in OP and they drive 70 miles to work out at a Division III college campus. It's been a bad idea for years. Just stay in OP.

1/2 Way Through: Which Coach has the Hottest Seat?
Ethan in Cleveland replied to ryguy101's topic in The Stadium Wall
Browns GM did not meet with the media during the bye week. First time in 5 years not to do so. They are crucifying him on the radio. If the GM goes then there is zero chance Stefanski stays. They will clean house. If they lose to the Jets I would not be shocked to see both fired. Myles Garrett slammed helmet at the end of the game. This time he didn't swing it at a player. -
I saw that as well. My guess is he was confirming he was in the right spot or had the correct assignment. Only once did I see Bishop move him from where he was lined up. Kid looked good. High hopes. If Beane got that pick right and if Bishop gets a little better, 4/5 of the secondary is set for next year. I think Taron will be around for another year. And if Hancock keeps progressing then 5/5 spots in the secondary are set. That would be huge. That leaves the top of the draft for two WRs and DT. I'd add a mid-round safety and LB as well.

Holding Penalties, whats the root cause?
Ethan in Cleveland replied to Chaos's topic in The Stadium Wall
These numbers aren't a true reflection of the offense. They include special teams return penalties as "offensive holding". See below. There are several defenders with Offensive Holding calls. https://www.nflpenalties.com/team/buffalo-bills?year=2025&view=players That said there are 5 holding penalties on the TE's and WRs combined. That is almost the same number as the OL - 6. Our boundary players are not disengaging from their defender after the RB or WR cuts past them. Kincaid has been called twice for this. We throw 2-4 WR screens a game. They need to do better. Most OL penalties are also when they fail to disengage the opponent after a cut back. Pretty sure Spencer Brown got called last week for that. If we had a better passing attack where Josh got the ball out early I think we would also see less calls. So no it is not a conspiracy. It is a multitude of things, all of which can get better. -
Poyer is a coach on the field for Bishop and Hairston. Probably not much of a downgrade from what Rapp was offering. Helps in the locker room. Good move. Phillips still offers some inside pass rush. He's a liability against the run, but so is every DT on the roster right now. Maybe Ogunjobi can be the run stuffer. Walker is learning on the job and makes some splash plays but some other plays where he is blocked out of position. I don't really think it matters. McDermott has switched his philosophy for run defense considerably this year. He is using the 4-3 much more. I think he has given up hope the DTs can be stout in the run game. Same with Taron. He's getting abused taking so many hits. He dabbled in it last year but the LB's were even worse last year. Now with Shaq and hopefully getting Bernard and Milano back they have 4 capable LBs and Buffalo Joe in an emergency. It worked against the Panthers because Dalton was awful. Will have to see if it works against a capable QB.

OJ had 273 yards rushing and the Bills lost...
Ethan in Cleveland replied to Ethan in Cleveland's topic in The Stadium Wall
As I reflect on this it is weird. I have more knowledge of the AFL teams than I do most of the 1970s teams. I started watching in 1980. Love the comments and history lessons. And I would defend the position that OJ is the most physically gifted RB to ever play. Brown was bigger but OJ combination of size and speed I still do not think has been matched. -
The Ray Davis-backup running back discussion
Ethan in Cleveland replied to TBBills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall
Go back and read the comments in the Cook thread. There were people that posted he was just as good as Cook which is laughable. I was one of those that thought he would be a solid backup. Now im not so sure. He made some bad cuts yesterday back inside when as Cook did the opening was further outside. Now maybe he was told to stay in bounds, but this was way before there was 5 min left so the clock would have restarted anyways. Maybe giving Gore a chance to play for a week against Miami wouldn't be the worst idea. All that said, backup RB is not in the top 10 issues this team has. Injuries at multiple spots and lack of WR talent is much bigger issue. -
Ed Oliver bicep injury - likely out regular season
Ethan in Cleveland replied to DJB's topic in The Stadium Wall
Hugely disappointing! Hated the pick when it was made. Oliver has never lived up to his draft status but he's been a solid starter. Can't even blame this injury or the ankle on being too small. Just bad luck. Not sure what his cap hit is, but unless Sanders looks like a ProBowl player when he returns, Oliver will probably be back next year. -
Hairston looked good. At first I was thinking save him for the Dolphins. Now I say trial by fire. Let him start and play the whole game. If they lose, I'd rather lose with him than lose with White. And I know I'm a broken record, but please go no huddle early and often. I think that wil get Josh in a rhythm faster. You can still run the ball in the no huddle. Thurman did it for a decade.

I will partially defend Beane a bit here. He got fooled as most of us did by Gabe Davis. For a moment he looked like the perfect #2 to Diggs. If he had not regressed we would have had a top 3 WR duo in the league. But as we have seen he regressed terribly. Then similar story with Knox. He looked like a guy that could be a top 15 TE, but it never occurred. And lastly, Elam ended up being a complete bust. These last two meant top picks that could have been used on WR needed to be used on TE and CB again. I still think the Diggs trade was dumb. Even post ACL he is better than any WR on the Bills roster now. The question now is will he swallow his pride and make a move or will he call up a radio station on Nov 5th and tell people to suck eggs because we have Palmer and Shavers....

Max Hairston reps against Carolina
Ethan in Cleveland replied to HappyDays's topic in The Stadium Wall
McDermott has said he doesn't like to rotate guys. When Milano came back last year he played 100% of the snaps even though Williams had played all year to that point. Will be interesting who starts and when Hairston plays the entire game. Im ready for 100% of the snaps for Hairston and White sits. -
The New Guys: Hairston, Hoecht, Ogunjobi plus Hancock
Ethan in Cleveland replied to Ray Stonada's topic in The Stadium Wall
They all looked good. Hairston moved well. Only one play did it seem like he didnt know what to do and I think Bishop got him lined up. Hoecht plays chippy at time. He was hitting the punt block guy down the field well after the whistle. Already got one unsportsmanlike penalty at the end of the game. He's going to need to clean that up. Brings a lot of energy to that DE spot. I think the Lorax comparison fits well. -
OJ had 273 yards rushing and the Bills lost...
Ethan in Cleveland posted a topic in The Stadium Wall
When Cook went over 200 with 4 minutes left in the third quarter I looked up the single game rushing record for the Bills. I thought it might be OJ and I was shocked to see he went for 273 in a loss!! I was only 6 at the time so I have no memory of this. Curious to hear what some members recall from that game. That 273 yards is still 6th all time. OJ is only player in NFL history with two games of 250 yards or more. Derrick Henry has a 250 and 238. Bills have three rushing performances in the top 20 with OJ at 273 and 250 and Cookie at 243. I'm glad McDermott pulled Cook, but with that much time left and a Carolina defense that was giving up huge chunks, he could have easily gotten 250+. -

Go ahead and flame me, but Amare Cooper is better than any WR on this team right now. It's not 2018 bad but its pretty dam close -
