Mini-Camp: A James Cook Barometer
Ethan in Cleveland replied to BigAl2526's topic in The Stadium Wall
This is the lamest of arguments. Again did the Bills honor Tre White's contract??? When the deals are fully guaranteed then you can say honor your contract. Until then it is all a negotiation. -
Former Panther Alert: Bills sign Shaq Thompson LB!
Ethan in Cleveland replied to FireChans's topic in The Stadium Wall
Cam today would still be better than any backup they have had in the Allen era. Let's hope we never have to see how bad they are in a real game. -
Expectations for Javon Solomon
Ethan in Cleveland replied to KentuckyBillsFan's topic in The Stadium Wall
He's a second year low round pick. They invested heavily in higher round DL picks and free agents this year. He is probably a roster bubble player at this point and fighting for a roster spot. He probably makes the team because of the PED cheats and the fact McD carries 10 or more DL most of the time. I don't think he should carry that many this year as they have more question marks in the secondary than they do at DL. It would be nice to see him take the next step and move on from Epenesa. He's cheaper than Epenesa. If he can be a 4-6 sack guy even in mop up duty that would be far less expensive than some of the other guys they have had on the DL. -
Bills games you’ve never rewatched
Ethan in Cleveland replied to Bills!Win!'s topic in The Stadium Wall
I've never rewatched any of the playoff losses. Ever. Obviously you see clips from time to time. But from losing to Fouts in 1980 with Ferguson on one leg, to a few months ago to Mahomes and Kincaid dropping the ball, I just can't watch any of those losses. -
Saquon Barkley chosen for cover of Madden 26
Ethan in Cleveland replied to chongli's topic in The Stadium Wall
Yeah those suffering Giants fans who got to watch the best defensive player in NFL history and see their team win 8 Championships including 4 SuperBowls. Must be rough to follow the G-men Jets have a SuperBowl win and a few AFC Championship appearances in this century. Nothing can compare to being a Browns fan. The drive, the fumble, losing your team, and now the worst trade in NFL history. -

Did the Bills honor the contract Tre White signed? -
Agree! Like the player but I would have spent that money on Cook. If anything McDermott has shown he can get decent play from most guys he puts out there at MLB. Even Specter and Klein were serviceable. Never liked Bernard's lack of size but he's made more plays in two years of starting than Edmunds has his entire career. Hope he stays healthy and gets decent DT play in front of him this year.

With all due respect, the franchise has been to four SuperBowls and lost all of them. This group hasn't even made it to a SuperBowl. If you don't understand the psyche of the Bills fan base then you are either too young or are willing to settle. This team with Allen has been great and it has been fun to watch. Nobody would trade this run for the drought. However almost everyone on this board knows the defense is a fraud. The defense has padded their stats against garbage QBs for years and fails every time in the playoffs. I truly hope this year is different or Allen starts to get listed with guys like Fouts who were HOF talents to never play in the SuperBowl. Its not just me. Multiple national media people have already stated McDermott has wasted Allen's best years. Beane has added lots of new players for the defense. Let's hope that these players make a difference in January not September.

Have our draft picks signed their contracts?
Ethan in Cleveland replied to billvernsays's topic in The Stadium Wall
Correct me if I’m wrong but the only guys that ever holdout anymore are fighting about offset language. And for some reason I think it only applied to third round picks. Maybe this is outdated but it is so very rare for any draft pick to hold out now. -
Bishop was winning the starting job in TC last year and would have started week 1 if not for the scapula injury. No surprise he is the early leader to start.
-
That's an interesting take and good discussion topic. PFF for what it is worth had McGovern ranked 10th and Cook ranked 12th. Maybe neither guy is worth an extension, LOL! Torrence may still develop into a top guard too and he would be up for an extension after this year, though last year he looked only average. I still have hopes for Van Pran-Granger to take the center spot in the future. He was a multi year starter in the SEC at Georgia. Played against future NFL high draft picks almost every week. I'd pay Cook and trust Beane to figure out the Center spot.

No doubt there is potential there with a massive upgrade at QB. Palmer and Moore on paper are quality signings and better than Samuel and Hollins were last year.
-
It's ok to disagree. I think he's better at his position that Oliver, Rousseau, Knox, Benford, and every other player except Milano, White, and Allen were at the time they got their second contracts. He's an elite player that should get paid as such. I fully admit I am biased by running backs that can catch the ball out of the backfield. Thurman Thomas not Kelly was my favorite player of the 1990's teams. I loved watching players like Tomlinson, Faulk, and Edgerrin James. I value them more than WRs. I know the league, the market, and this board disagrees. For the record I fully support the extensions Benford, Rousseau, and Shakir got. All are very good players and all the deals were fair for both sides. Just hope Beane trims the money spent by getting rid of Epenesa, DQ, Samuel, and moving on or redoing the Milano and Knox contracts by next year. That should free up enough money to pay Cook either on the franchise tag or with an extension.
-
Really hope they pay Cook! Go back and watch the games. He's arguably the second best player on the entire team. He doesn't take big hits. His vision in the hole is as good as Thurman and Shady. His speed is excellent. He has enough power to get an extra yard or two after contact. His hands once thought of as a liability by some are elite. His route running is crisp and quick. He deserves a massive contract. Thanks to the system he doesn't have a ton of wear and tear.

I know Veteran's day and Memorial Day are meant to honor different servicemen. No matter if they perished in combat or made it home, they all come back harmed. Honor them all for the sacrifice they make so we may live free!

Interesting comparison. Both need to prove it in the playoffs though. Neither is as good as some people claim and neither is as bad as many state. Solid QBs you can win with.
-
I've been rewatching all the 2024 games. Elam was awful every chance he got. I defended him a lot on this board but he played his way off the roster.
-
It would be nice if we could get a few physically imposing players from time to time. Other teams WRs are bigger than our TEs. Other than Allen, Edmunds(when he was here), and maybe Spencer Brown, I can't think of many guys that are just bigger and stronger than their opponent. Bills do generally have decent size at the CB position. Can only dream what Allen could do with a guy like Mecalf.

Owners approve a change to the onside kick rule
Ethan in Cleveland replied to Gregg's topic in The Stadium Wall
It became very low success rate when they changed the rule eliminating overloading one side. I'm fine with allowing it to be declared in the 3rd quarter. That won't change player safety. I just don't see the need to make it a more successful play. It should be a desperation play with low success rate. With all that said I hate the new kickoff rules anyways. I would go back to the way it was. In that format you could do a surprise insides kick anytime you want. -
Owners approve a change to the onside kick rule
Ethan in Cleveland replied to Gregg's topic in The Stadium Wall
Why? Why make it easier for a losing team to make a comeback? I never understood the rationale for this. You are beating a team for 58 minutes by two scores and give up a late score in garbage time. Now you have to defend a potentially dangerous play and leave your starters on the field longer. -
Yes this hurts. No idea how much it would have cost Bills to go up ang get him, but many on this board were advocating for it in real time during last year's draft.
-
Yeah except in this case it is fair criticism. When you give up multiple picks to move up and draft a guy that is not nearly as good as two other players in the same draft class it is fair criticism. That said I thought Edmunds was going to be a superstar at the time. Thought he was the next Brian Urlacher. Didn't like giving up multiple picks but thought the player was going to be great. BTW just cross out Edmunds and Warner and add Kincaid and LaPorta and its the same story.

Shakir is 25 too. Not sure he would make the listed top 25 but he's probably in the tier of top 50 guys 25 and under. Couldn't seperate himself from the pack of other under 25 uear old WRs...
