Who will win starting jobs at these positions?
Ethan in Cleveland replied to jwhit34's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Decent chance Epenesa lines up next to Oliver and replaces Harrison in the nickel four man DL at DT. He will get snaps at both DE and DT but won't start at either spot unless the other team comes out in a 5 WR set for the first play from scrimmage. -
Anybody want to go on record about Josh?
Ethan in Cleveland replied to eball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'd prefer he just not drop the snap before making the miraculous 4th down run against Dallas. Allen was the QB I wanted but he has to play better. We will know by the end of this year. There are no excuses. OL is good enough, WR group is great. All he needs to do is increase TD by 5 and decrease InT/fumbles by 5 and Bill's should win 11 or more games. I think he makes the leap and becomes a great QB but never cracks the top 5 in QB rating. He will never be a 65% completion guy unless they change the offense significantly. -

It's easy. If you are a white QB and you throw 20 TD against 10 picks and lateral the ball to no one in a playoff game you are a gamer. If you are black QB, former MVP, and led your team to the Superbowl where you were repeatedly hit illegally, you are not. -

A small but real percentage of this board wanted Reich over Kelly. -

Allen has to play better. All the other pieces are there to win 11 games or more. It's all on Allen and McD. -
Who’s on the Buffalo Bills Mt Rushmore?
Ethan in Cleveland replied to JetsFan20's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Ralph Wilson - no team without him Bruce Smith - best DE in history, top 10 all time talent OJ Simpson - top 5 RB of all time Thurman Thomas - he was the true force behind the K gun. Thurman is a top 10 RB in league history. Kelly is not in the top 20 QBs of all time. -
Convince me that the 2020 Pats are good...

For 20 years people have said the same thing about BB's defenses. He has traded away and cut guys once they get too expensive or show decline. That is his genius. He wanted to do the same thing with Brady and keep Garapalo but Kraft said no. The defense will still be very tough. If who ever is playing QB keeps the INT total less than 12 they will win no less than 8 games. Keep the turnovers down and his defense will keep them in a lot of games. I still think they find a way to add Newton at QB. If they do then the division title will be up for grabs until Bills and Patriots play in December. -
Examining Brandon Beane’s comp pick hack

Obsessing about them and pissing away a 3rd round pick for Gilmore are two different things. -
25 Best of all Time in the NFL !!
Ethan in Cleveland replied to T master's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
BB had the two greatest players of all time on their respective sides of the ball - Brady and Lawrence Taylor. BB is probably the greatest coach of all time but I would like to see him go without Brady for 5 years. Think Phil Jackson with the Knicks and not the Bulls/MJ or Lakers/Kobe/Shaq. The other counter argument to the salary cap era is this is the free agency era. You can rebuild rosters even if you don't draft well. BB has never drafted better than others. His true mastery is cutting guys before they decline and signing good players to decent contracts and finding roles for them to excel. -
QB and MLB. If they dont play better, none of the other moves will matter. Both are young and improving and if they continue to get better this team will win the division and host a playoff game. As for a position that still needs an upgrade, it has to be OLB. Unlike TE, Bills have a rich history of great OLB play. Just not sure McD's defense is designed for an attacking OLB.

I'd guess 49 or 50 of the roster spots are already known with the final 3-4 simply dependent on how many spots they want per position. Will they keep DiMarco - sadly probably yes. If they do then they probably can only keep 3 TE's. Will they carry 3 QBs? If so then then may only be able to go with 5 WR. They signed two free agents that only play ST's but after drafting two WRs I think Yaiwan Jones may not make the team. They will have to choose between Yeldon and Taiwan Jones. I'd take Yeldon for sure.

Pegula was responsible for the Rex Ryan hire not Whaley. And no one really knows who owns the EJ pick. Was it Nix or Whaley. Whaley added a lot of talent to the team. His offense was top 10 in scoring and number one in rushing. Ryan destroyed a top 3 defense. I too was ok with the Ryan hire because I thought he was a good game day coach and for the most part he was. I like the Greg Roman hire. All Rex had to do was keep Schwarz and add a few wrinkles to the defense. Instead the moron decided to blow it up. His fate was sealed at that moment.

One year deal for Clowney would put the front 7 over the top and not hurt the team long term. Make it happen and make a deep playoff run. Interesting that Beane or McD spoke about Epenesa moving down to DT in passing situations. That will allow them to carry one less DT and an additional DE on the roster.

Opinions on a hypothetical trade
Ethan in Cleveland replied to offsides#76FredSmerlas's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Good topic. To hell with all the posters that tell you to stop. I love the hypothetical stuff. As for your idea, I would pass. Brown is healthy, has very good hands, runs all routes, and is already under contract. I would have traded a 3rd round pick for AJ before the Diggs deal. But even giving up a #1, the Diggs deal is better. Diggs is younger, healthier, and cheaper.
