There is the QB and then the rest of the team. You can say he's 1/11 or whatever but it's simply not true. Getting the QB spot right is just about equal to all the other positions combined. So if Allen regresses and they don't make the playoffs this year, then they will be on the hot seat. If McD can't beat the Patriots with Allen and without Brady then you have to question why? As others have pointed out some of his game management is questionable while some of it is quite good. Long and short its deep playoff run or bust this year. Anything less and either Allen, McD, or Beane are losing their job.

Offensive Line Status Quo

Don't learn on the bench. Just like Allen needs to play and get better so does Ford. -
Offensive Line Status Quo

I like Ford at RT. OT takes years to develop now. Nsekhe was not much better and Ford improved as the year went on. I'm fine with this starting five. After the moves made in FA I probably would take Edge, OT, RB, DE, P in that order in the draft. -
What would an “All In” move be to you?

Trade this year's 2 and next years 1 for Khalil Mack. -
What are you trying to say? Cam has taken a beating that no other QB would have. Some of it is his fault but there is a bias against him. I don’t even think it is intentional. I liken it to Shaquille O’Neil. They are both so physically dominating it is difficult to officiate fouls against them as they so often are the initiators of the contact. Cam has been a warrior.

Who drafts a QB this year?

RB #2 for sure. What other holes? -
What about White/Milano/Dawkins?
Ethan in Cleveland replied to oldmanfan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Sign White if he gives you a bit of a discount for the early deal. If not take advantage of the first round pick 5th year option. Hold tight on Milano and Dawkins. I see an OT early in this draft as insurance against Dawkins leaving. Milano is a great story but he can be replaced. I think when they extended Poyer it sealed the fate of Milano as the guy they will let walk on defense. Barring injury Hyde will get paid and if Edmunds and Allen develop they need to save money somewhere. -
I was and still am a huge Allen supporter. I wanted him over all other QB's and posted that many times. Rosen was my second option. Allen has made strides and if he continues to improve he has a really good chance of being the franchise QB this team has lacked for two decades. That said, I am also a proponent of drafting QBs often. I'm not looking for competition. I am thinking more investment. They still have multiple picks and filled many holes on defense. Bringing back Spain means Ford will start at RT. I look at the needs as OT - in case Ford struggles and possible Dawkins replacement, RB #2, Edge rusher, and punter. That's three position players and the luxury of drafting the best punter in the draft. After that there are few if any holes on the team - maybe TE?. They have depth on the OL and DL. They have depth at CB and safety. This is the perfect year to add a QB in the mid rounds to develop. The rosters will expand so carrying three QBs will be more common. If Allen is the franchise, then at worst you burn a mid round draft pick. If Allen is great and the new QB shows anything in preseason or mop-up duty maybe he becomes trade bait. If Allen is a bust, Beane and McD will need a plan B or they both may be out of jobs.

OP yes it is a lot of draft capital especially in the context of the fleecing Arizona did to get Hopkins. But this guy is a proven commodity. He is on a great contract. Amari Cooper is getting paid double and he may not even be as good as Diggs. For now it looks much better than the Watkins deal. But only time will tell. He may holdout for better money. He may blow up at Allen like he did to Cousins. But on paper its a better move than the Watkins trade.

[Incomplete Title] So based on signings...

Beane drafts for need. OT or RB. Would not be surprised if he gives up #2,#3, #5 ro move up and get Dobbins -
Bills Sign Mario Addison on a 3 year deal
Ethan in Cleveland replied to BillsMafi$'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I would have preferred Shaq on a 5th year guarantee. I also would have preferred bringing Shaq back but I'm sure the way this staff treated him , he couldn't wait to move on All that said, I like this move. Consistent production at a reasonable rate. He replaces Shaq in my mind. The 2nd round pick will replace Murphy. Solid B+ move -
Bills sign LB AJ Klein 3yrs $18M

Yuck. He's not good enough to play MLB and force a move Edmunds to OLB. Need a pass rusher. This guy is a 2 down OLB with no pass rush. Must go all in for Clowney now. They have millions in cap room. -
That is a stupid contract. They could have just tagged him and evaluated him for another year.

How old are you? The first pick of the draft was often known days, weeks, and sometime months in advance as the terms of the deal were agreed upon. In Smith's case he agreed months before the draft. And Smith was not a holdout his rookie year. https://www.buffalobills.com/news/feb-22-1985-bills-agree-to-rookie-deal-with-bruce-smith-14954041
