I know I was just teasing. You can't live in Buffalo and not also be living in Western NY. I know upstate NY is a silly generality meaning anything other than NYC. Just as silly and erroneous to say all of the Pacific NW is the same or even that all of California is the same. Seattle and Portland are far far different than the rest of the states of Washington and Oregon.

Sign One, Trade One, Draft One, GO!
Ethan in Cleveland replied to Dkollidas's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Depth of the draft is at edge and WR the positions most of need. You will get the same quality player at 35 as they will at 22 and an extra pick. 2nd round picks would be cheaper. The downside is the length of the contract the team can offer. -

Would You Give Up A Pick for Njoku?
Ethan in Cleveland replied to H2o's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Curious. You think Njoku is worth less than a 3rd? You think TE group is not fine and if so what do you want to do about it? I assume you would want to cut Kroft and sign another FA. You don't think a 3rd round pick will be a significant contributor this year? My hunch is the first three picks in the draft will all play significant snaps if not starters - at DE, OLB, and either DT or WR depending on what they do with Phillips and in free agency. -

My point was that new regimes move guys for reasons other than talent. Bills got great return for a guy they were not going to sign long term Browns aren't trading him for a fifth unless there is more to the story -

He is worth at least a third round pick but I would not go higher than a fifth. The reason being unlike last year the Bills are fine at TE if they do nothing. A third round pick will be a significant contributor if not starter on defense. As others said, if I'm the new coach in Cleveland I'm not trading Njoku until I at least see him in person in training camp and probably well into the season. But it made no sense for new HC McD to trade away Sammy and make the offense worse. Some guys rightly or wrongly just want their type of player and maybe Njoku is just not a good fit in Cleveland. -
Lions possibly looking to move Stafford
Ethan in Cleveland replied to Greg S's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Neither Tua or Herbert is ready to play in 2020. Best to keep Stafford, not take the dead cap hit, and let him play in 2020. -
Coryell and Flores both deserve to be in and should have been in years ago. I don't think Cowher is deserving but I can live with it if Flores and Coryell were voted in. I don't think Levy was worthy of HOF either. I was shocked he got voted in so fast. As for Johnson I have no idea why it took this long. Only thing I can think of is the committee may have felt he was going to unretire and come back to coach again.

I'd pass. Levi is younger, cheaper, and better. I'd be in favor of bringing K. Johnson back on a 3 year deal. Could be interesting as a backup FS for Hyde. He played his best football in a zone defense. I bet the switch to FS would be possible, not easy but possible. There are no good backup options for Hyde on the roster now.

When is the QB not the main ingredient? I'm in no way suggesting TT is the future in San Diego. Hell he could get beat out by the rookie they draft. But if he stays as error free as he has been in the past, he gives the Chargers a shot to be competitive for a WC spot late into the season. As for my RB prediction I was way off in yards but correct in which player would have a better year. McCoy posted 4.6 YPC which is a full 1 YPC more than Gore. Gore had 130 more yards but on 60+ more carries. Only he and Andy Reid know why he didn't get that many carries as the season wore on. Fumbles? Seems odd as he was never a chronic fumbler. Hope he gets a chance somewhere.

Rivers threw 20 picks in 16 games last year. Tyrod has 20 interceptions in 70 career games. They have a good WR group but need work on their line. No doubt he is a placeholder for Tua or Herbert who they will draft at #6. But if they improve the o-line TT will win 8 or 9 games next year in a division with Las Vegas and Denver.

1. Murphy - hate this guy but as others have said they need bodies at DE. I'd try to restructure as opposed to cut him. 2. Kroft - no reason to cut him. He will be fine paired with Knox. They would need to find another TE elsewhere like Howrd, Ebron, etc and they will cost as much or more 3. Smith - good bye 4. Yeldon - should have been on the filed over Gore. We all know it but folks on this board keep defending McD's game day decisions. His contract is not that much. Keep him as a veteran and add a fourth or firth round draft pick to the mix. 5. Sweeney - nobody cuts 7th round second year players for cost savings. His contract is so small it is barely above the 51st cut off for the salary cap calculation. If he is not the third TE then that is fine but it will be based on ability not money. As others pointed out. I think Long will be let go and they will find another interior guy in FA or the draft. With Feliciano able to back up center Long's days are numbered. Haushka finished 2020 strong and I don;t see them cutting him unless he is beaten out in training camp. I would be fine with drafting both a PK and punter in round 5 or 6 for camp competition- they have 5 picks in those two rounds

At first I was going to say trade a number 1 for a proven pass rusher. But after further consideration I don't think that is the right move. The money difference is too much between a rookie deal and a star player on their second contract. Even if the first rounder is only a capable player you get your money's worth. Adding that a first round DE can contribute immediately I think the best route is DE or Edge in the first round. Now if you can get a star WR with a second round pick, then I'd be fine with that even if I had to shell out the dollars. WR's take longer to make an impact and the Bills need a guy that can contribute from day one.
