Shady is inactive for the SB
Ethan in Cleveland replied to Reed83HOF's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Unlikely. When Singletary got hurt, McCoy would have been much better than Gore. Gore had a few nice 4th quarter runs but it was obvious he was done by week 8. I posted he would have a big game in playoffs against Houston bad run D. I was correct that McD and Daboll would use him quite a bit for that veteran presence in the huddle in playoff situation. But he was terrible and just one of many reasons they lost. -
Shady is inactive for the SB
Ethan in Cleveland replied to Reed83HOF's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If Shady is inactive it's a dumb move by Reid. He is a great player and will have a great play or two. 4.6 YPC this year. His game logs look like a real up and down season. 8.1 YPC in one game and 2.1 in a few others. He will make more plays than a backup DL. Based on what? Shady was great in Bill's locker room. Always praised lineman. Signing Gore was a dumb move and another in the list of bad personnel decisions by McD -
The Mystery of the Missing Screen Plays
Ethan in Cleveland replied to Hapless Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Man to man defense makes screen plays more difficult. Until we have deep threats and better TE play, teams will keep playing man to man and forcing Josh and the receivers to throw into tight windows. The linebackers don't need to double the tight ends so they can just track the running back. Fix the deep threat, let Knox develop, and they should be better. -
Jacob Hollister/TE - FA Option
Ethan in Cleveland replied to BillsDiehard's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You nailed. Lot's of underneath and dump off catches after Lockett ran the defense deep. His best skill was probably improvising with Wilson once Wilson moved out of the pocket. Good story but he would be #4 TE on the Bills if they keep 4 and get rid of the FB. -
Chris Brown article on Bills Draft Needs
Ethan in Cleveland replied to Hapless Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don’t want to draft another OT early. They don’t get enough NFL style play in college anymore. They aren’t the sure bets like Pace and Thomas were. A mid round project with good feet is fine. Get front 7 defenders in this year’s draft. I think the defense is not as good as people think, and they will need at least four new faces in front 7. Get an OT in free agency. Try and get AJ Green or Amari Cooper. I would spend heavily for an elite WR. If not an elite talent then just get your WR in the draft. I’m fine with Knox and Kroft at TE. -
Can Tasker still make the HOF?
Ethan in Cleveland replied to Braedenstearns's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He actually does have name recognition. And it's pure speculation he would have gotten more catches if on the field more. Where would the touches have come from? Reed, Lofton, and Thomas are all in the HOF and along with Beebe and Metzalaars, how many other opportunities would he have had? Maybe in today's era he would have been an Edelman or Welker? But we don't know. What we know is he is a great story and if he can't even make the finals list with this weak and expanded class then he will never get in. -
Pro Bowl Player Poll--Worst City to Travel To
Ethan in Cleveland replied to Lurker's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Are u serious? Boston, Washington, Miami, NYC? World class hotels, dining, and entertainment. You can love living in Buffalo but as someone else said no one wants to visit Buffalo. Lol. Most of the best players are from the South. They wont like playing in Buffalo in January either -
How does TSW feel about Andy Reid?
Ethan in Cleveland replied to NewEra's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think he should be in the HOF. I don't think one game matters that much but he has choked in the biggest games just like Marv did. That said Reid is a far better coach than Levy ever was. For the record, no I don't think Levy should have been elected to the HOF. Not before Coryell or Flores, perhaps not ever. But what about this guy? 21 seasons, 205-139-1 (0.613 win %), with only 2 losing seasons. 5-13 in the playoffs though Well this is his second Superbowl so he must have at least 2 conf championship wins No love for Bill Walsh? Don Coryell? Jon Gruden? Mike Holmgren? -
Cap space as trade currency?
Ethan in Cleveland replied to The Red King's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Love it. Instead of giving up trade assets like players or picks, teams could give up cap space and still draft young players. -
Eli Manning: Will He Get Into Canton?
Ethan in Cleveland replied to Gugny's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yes he will get in. No he doesn't deserve to be in the HOF. I also don't think Kurt Warner should be in the HOF. But if they put in Warner they will put in Eli -
Double down on defense and O-line
Ethan in Cleveland replied to Ethan in Cleveland's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree with your assessment. I'm worried it will be harder to replace Phillips via the draft than finding a better edge option than Murphy. I like Shaq a lot and hope he comes back. He is a good pro and if he was a starter or primary backup at DE it would be fine with me. I've posted many times, my priority is a pass rushing OLB. But I'm an old timer now who grew up with Lawrence Taylor, Cornelius Bennett, and Derrick Thomas. Maybe in 2020 it should be a 4-3 DE. -
As others have pointed out he is at risk for being cut, but I think that would be unwise. He will be an overpaid TE#2 but his contract won't prevent anyone from getting signed in FA. Cutting him only accelerates the cap hit and they would still need to find another TE#2. He is a fine #2 and the team has bigger issues to deal with

[Name Only Title] lesean mccoy
Ethan in Cleveland replied to dbfla10's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Well played. O-line was garbage last year and we cut a guy that was a good teammate and good to the city. And played injured in the Jax playoff game...but never did anything for this team Cutting him and keeping Gore was a mistake. No other way to spin it. Add it to the list of personnel mistakes McD has made over the years. No HC or GM is perfect but keeping Gore over McCoy made no sense, nor did it make sense to play Gore over Yeldon. -
Both teams are loaded with talent and both only lack good QB play to be a consistent winner. Rivers has reportedly relocated his family to Florida. One might assume Brady would want a warm weather place to finish his career, or play a majority of his games in a dome. Both have offensive minded head coaches. Free agency this year will be incredible if these guys decide to keep playing and take their talents elsewhere.

Double down on defense and O-line

Agree. Hughes is still effective but is on the decline. -
Double down on defense and O-line

Agree with your post. Trust in Knox. He is on his way to being a top 5 TE in this league. -
Double down on defense and O-line
Ethan in Cleveland replied to Ethan in Cleveland's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
We had a top 3 defense in yards, not in performance. We need a defense that can rush the passer. I'm fine with targeting DE as the pass rusher, but I think those guys are harder to find than an OLB that can come off the edge. -
Defense and run game again wins. Bills need to add four front 7 defenders this offseason. The most critical is to get a pass rushing OLB. They also need at least two defensive ends. Shaq would be fine as one of them but if he walks they need to add two more. Lastly another interior DL with the assumption J. Phillips is gone. I would let Spain walk, move Ford to LG, and sign a veteran RT. They will need to add a running back too. I would address in free agency saving my draft picks for defensive guys and a WR.
