The same can be said of Super Bowl XXV--which I think most regarded as the best SB of all time, as of that point in time. I always felt "who the F cares" about that one too.

I enjoyed Cowherd's little segment there. I don't see it as a knock on McDermott, so much as a praising of the "perfect fit" between Reid and Mahomes. The day will come when McDermott needs to get it done. When that day is, or how much patience Pegula has, I don't know. If several years go by without the big win, it will be a much more interesting discussion. If we DO win a SB in the next 2-3 years, McDermott will be here for his career.

Isaiah McKenzie aka, Lil Dirty, sounds like he’s moving on
Nextmanup replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall
I would say Beasley is almost certainly gone! There will be a number of changes all over the place. That's OK. The SB era Bills had TONS of roster tweaks all over the place during their era of dominance. Look at how much the DL and OL changed! Both were far from stagnant. The elite core remained the same--that was it. -
These threads are unbearable after losses
Nextmanup replied to CorkScrewHill's topic in The Stadium Wall
I understand your point but that also takes away a lot of the emotion of the whole experience, which is a big part of the fun. In another month or 2, I won't even be thinking about NFL football! So should I walk away from this forum for 2 months? What's the point of that? I want to discuss what happened! -
I wouldn't mind, but I don't see it happening to be honest. I do think Daboll will go, we'll probably know about that soon. I DISAGREE that we were somehow set to win the SB once we got past KC. We could have lost to the Bengals---that's how the NFL works. I would have really liked our chances though! And we could EASILY have lost to the Rams or the 49ers---much less so the 49ers, but that would be possible. They just took down GB at Lambeau. You never know in the NFL. I do agree it would have LOOKED REALLY GOOD though, and the week leading up to the game against the Bengals, in Buffalo, would have been EPIC and the BEST TIME OF THIS SEASON. Alas, it wasn't to be.

The ESPN win probability for the Chiefs Bill's game

The attachment doesn't seem to work. -
Yes, I think the average DIE HARD fan does take it harder than the current Bills player, largely because there is a LOT more that goes into it for the fan. This does not mean that the players don't care, or don't take it hard! I'm sure they are all highly disappointed. But no one takes it harder than the fans. It's also why fans really FEEL "rivalries" where as I don't think rivalries even exist for players. Some "fans" aren't going to be gutted, but those aren't hard core fans to begin with.

It was a hard loss AND we closed the gap

Smells like a moral victory post to me. -
The overtime rule can be terrible and in need of replacing, even if it had nothing to do with last night's loss. Tons of people have brought up this argument---and it's totally irrelevant to the issue. I can't believe how many Bills fans seem "just fine" with how the game ended. In a game like that, the team that won the coin toss was going to win the game. Our defense was UTTERLY SPENT in OT--it looked like they didn't even try. Leave the Bills out of it---why would you want an epic playoff game to be decided by a coin toss? They should play a 10 minute quarter and any and all scoring counts. The game ends at the end of 10 minutes. If there is no winner at the end of 10 minutes, you play another 10 minute quarter.

There was a certain contingent around the NFL this year that didn't believe we were a "true" No. 1 defense, mostly because we played a LOT of bad quarterbacks throughout the year--and our numbers suffered when playing good QBs. I don't think we will lose Frazier, but I am now thinking Daboll will be gone...which doesn't bother me. I'm not a Daboll hater, but I think he can be replaced.
-
I don't hate the guy like many Bills fans seem to, but I refuse to believe he is some sort of play making magician! He calls a LOT of curious plays at the wrong time that hurts the team, and we often fail to get our best players involved the way they should be. If he goes, he should be able to be replaced with someone as good or better IMO! PS: What's Chan Gailey doing? Is he retired? He had a knack for really creative, good offensive play design. He'd be excellent with Josh! Get the next Chan Gailey who's just that much younger. They have to be out there.

Why didn't Buffalo pull the Harbaugh Maneuver?

2nd Worst Loss in Bills History!! Only wide right was worse!
Nextmanup replied to BuffaloButt's topic in The Stadium Wall
Hey man, I'm a Red Sox fan. Entire generations of Red Sox fans came and went and it was the same old same old. No guarantees with this stuff! -
Don't think too hard about the Sabres right now. If you do, you'll lose your mind. They are about to set a historic record for post-season futility! 😆

Do you think this coaching staff should have done more with a QB performance of that magnitude?
-
You wonder how long our current SB winning window will remain open! It's really tough to swallow a loss like this b/c of that as much as anything. That window is definitely wide open now though, and should be next year too. I think.
-
Our drafting has been bad. The DL and OL need to be reconstructed. As long as Allen is here and young enough to play his type of game, we'll be close to the target. Will we ever hit the bullseye? Is coaching good enough for that? That's the relevant question.

Serious Question - Why Not Hold or Tackle WRs/TEs Every Play
Nextmanup replied to sven233's topic in The Stadium Wall
For the 3rd time (?)... McDermott was asked this specific question about 1/2 hour ago in the post game PC. He said they do discuss this type of thing, but he refused to actually directly address or answer any specific question about the end of the game. I personally think there is no way in hell they discussed tackling or holding receivers in the game tonight--there was not enough time for that. Maybe they conceptually talked about it at meeting 4 months ago or something like that. -
How many chances does McDermott have left?
Nextmanup replied to Igotbills's topic in The Stadium Wall
I would say they overachieved, despite losing the first game. The seeding was crazy this year and you can't think of them as a #1. BY FAR, the 2 best teams in the AFC just played what should have been the AFCCG... The Bengals will get KILLED next week. -
Heartbreaking Divisional Round loss...just like in '89...
Nextmanup replied to Big Turk's topic in The Stadium Wall
And on top of it, folks are "finding" parallels simply because they are looking for them! We could write 1,000 words discussing, in detail, how the 2 eras are completely different. Lastly, "learning how to win" is bull#### that only fans talk of. Luckily, that's not a real thing. -
Honestly what do you do moving forward?
Nextmanup replied to Milanos Milano's topic in The Stadium Wall
I think Levi Wallace is excellent depth at DB! Doesn't mean we can't add another though. I had very high hopes for Rousseau--he's a bust too. Our DL drafting has been brutal. I would like to think improving Edmunds will be a top priority, but I do NOT think it will be. In fact, I'm not sure they think he's a problem. Beasley will be gone--I feel strongly about that one. I agree with a lot of your names. -
Maybe we would have EASILY won the SB this year with better coaching all year long. Better coaching = better seeding = playoff bye and home games = SB appearances and then it's just a case of winning 1 key game. The funny thing is, we'll never know, and most fans at this forum will continue to assume McDermott is the obvious answer.
