  1. Sorry to hear this! He was one of my absolute favorite characters on "The Sopranos." The scene where he drove all over Christopher's freshly landscaped front yard remains one of the absolute gems of the entire series. The look on Paulie's face while driving was classic "Paulie Walnuts." Here it is!
  2. I didn't know Geddy was a huge baseball fan. Interesting story about him donating the balls to the ***** League museum. I have a colleague at work who I've known for a good 20 years now; her grandfather had a long career in the ***** Leagues. Was probably a heck of a ball player.
  3. I was with a group of buddies walking down the street, heading to the "Hard Rock Cafe" in London, 1988. As we got close to the entrance, a limousine pulled up, and the 3 band members from ZZ TOP got out, and headed into the Hard Rock Cafe. My buddy Joe looked at Billy Gibbons, and said "Hey Billy!" and he said "Hey guys" with a smile and seemed like a nice guy. No security or other people with the 3 guys. They went into the cafe ahead of us and were there for some sort of "appearance". I think that's the only time I've come in contact with a famous rock musician.
  4. He's not serious; he's just yanking your chain.
  5. I've seen the real one in DC many times; used to live there for years. It's really sad and depressing looking at all those names--and all largely for nothing, too.
  6. Well, you have guys on the way up who will never get there, largely because they can't hit a curve ball, then you have guys who were big leaguers but are now on their way down at the end of their careers....and you have the guys who are on their way up and will arrive some day as good MLB players. It's an interesting combination. Not sure what the % breakdowns are. I'm more familiar with American league hockey, where most guys on the team are simply not NHL caliber and never will be. They might have a handful of NHL games played at the end of an 8 or 10 year minor league career.
  7. We're going to need a pinned thread entitled "Today's Mass Shooting." Can't keep up with these babies! America's new national pastime!
  8. Money; greed; that sort of thing.
  9. I didn't watch the game, but I would imagine the quality of play is better than AAA baseball...I assume thees teams have ex NFLers throughout their lineups...tweeners who didn't make it but can still play. I would expect quality of play to be a notch beyond big time college football. Maybe that's wrong.
  10. You can expand this principle to all topics, generally speaking. How many interesting topics of conversation have been on this forum for the last 3 months? Not many. Why? Times are good; the team is good; expectations are high. There isn't a lot to argue/talk about. It was like this when we were going to Super Bowls too. A fun time in Bills history but also a boring one, in a sense. When the team began deteriorating in the mid '90s things got interesting again.
  11. A person of color calling attention to this country's totaled messed up race-relations situation by virtue of exercising his right to self expression...and this forum pisses all over the guy. Every single man or woman who has ever died in any war for this country did so so that Keep could go down on a knee before a football game. When you piss on Keep, you piss on every one of those dead heroes.
  12. EDITORIAL COMMENT: Although I like this song, for me it is totally thematically out of place on the otherwise perfect Dark Side of the Moon album. It just doesn't fit into the rest of the work. I would have deleted it. Soon Sid, David, and Roger will be singing: "Dollar bills, dollar bills Keep on falling for me, I love the way it feels." (Well hell, they've been singing that since the early '70s. This is nothing new!)
  13. The only Buffalo Bills related attraction I can think of would be to venture into the East Side of town and look at the site of the former "Rock Pile" or War Memorial Stadium where the Bills used to play until the current stadium was built in the early '70s. OJ Simpson made a lot of his history there. There isn't much of the old stadium left now, but there is still something to see. This also has the double benefit of being about 2 blocks from the site of the recent Tops grocery store mass killing if you have a morbid fascination in seeing where that took place.
  14. I am as big a Curb fan as anyone. There are a lot of people who don't get the show, but I was never one of them. And having said that, I noticed that last "new" season that the show's formula is getting old. I enjoyed it a lot more several years ago. I never felt that way about "Seinfeld." I remember telling a friend back then that I could watch a new episode of Seinfeld every week, forever, even though the formula of the show never changes and one show is pretty much the same as the next...but it was just so much fun to watch. Larry David no doubt played a huge role in both shows.
  15. I get it. You're talking guys who were never more than backups. Frank would have to rank highly on that list! I don't know how "random" this game would be considered, but, the game I often think about is: January 3, 1981: Buffalo at San Diego Chargers, divisional playoff game. We lose 20-14. It was the first truly disappointing Bills loss I remember, and it sort of set me up for the rest of my life in terms of Buffalo sports disappointment! I think that's why I remember it so well!
  16. Yeah, that lasted for a while, then ended. What truly saved this organization was the death of Ralph Wilson. Absolutely nothing was going to change until that happened, as I told everyone I knew for nearly 20 years...
  17. There's a thread on here talking about a recent podcast featuring former Bills center Eric Wood. They have a conversation about Richie Incognito. Based on the comments of all three guys in the podcast, including Eric's (who is like best friends with Richie), I would take Richie, Eric, and Charlie Sheen. As long as we keep Richie under control with access to the fire water, it sounds like it would be a hilariously good time. If we can cheat and sneak in 1 more football player, it would 100% be Fitz. Fitz, Richie, and Eric are uncommonly intelligent, especially for pro football players, and all have great senses of humor. Throw in Charlie Sheen and some of his stories and it would have to be a great night.
  18. I'd rather have Steve Young, to name 1 backup QB off the top of my head. He was the backup for a while before he got his shot in SF (4 seasons?) It's weird, but I tend to forget about his Tampa career, and think of him as the back up in San Fran, who then became the starter...more than one of the greatest starters of all time--which he is also!
  19. If I can find the finale, I'll watch it and throw in my 2 cents. I honestly don't remember a thing about it!
  20. I would recommend a viewing, but it would be better if you were still a teen and it was still the 1980s.
  21. Seriously? Journey got booed off the stage? In 1981? That's kind of funny. If you change a few details, your story could fit into just about any home Bills game I have ever been to. It's a f-ing zoo out there. People speak of "The Wire" as though it's one of the greatest shows of all time. I bought season 1 on DVD, based on recommendations, and got ready to rock 'n roll with a long binge watch. I literally tried twice, and could NOT make it out of episode 1. It was FILLED with such bad, jaded, "hardened, cynical cop" dialogue and scenes I have seen 1,000 times before. People speaking absolutely nothing like they do in real life. The whole thing wreaked "you are watching a TV show." I thought it was really quite bad. Shut it off and haven't been back since. Friends have told me I need to give it more of a chance, but I have no interest in doing so.
  22. I can guarantee you I watched it live, with anxious anticipation. Now, I don't remember 5 second of it to be honest! I wouldn't mind watching it if it's out there for free somewhere.
  23. Oh SWEET JESUS not the goat head again!
  24. Eric puts f-ing Miller Lite at #1, 2 spots ahead of Stella? I used to respect him. 😳
  25. Any hockey game can always see a crazy goal pop in at any moment, but Colorado was totally dominating in that OT. They still had plenty of energy and TB was burned out almost completely. Colorado is the better team and flat out the best team in hockey right now. I think they'll finish this thing off next game. I keep watching these 2 teams and thinking "Crap, this is the standard the Sabres need to build up to." We have an enormously long way to go.
