  1. Lots of reasons we lost. I wouldn't blame the defense at all, they went on the road in the playoffs and held a team to 10 points. The two key plays in that game were KB pushing off on 1st and goal at the one, and Clay's huge drop. Neither one of them Tyrods fault, although he definitely missed some opportunities on other plays. It's the reason he's in Cleveland now. 3 points is absurd, that Jax defense wasn't that good.
  2. I see the only reasonable move is up to the 4th spot. Getting to 2 isn't necessary or worth the price. Brownies will have their qb at 1, and pick up 12th and 22nd overall to get two more impact starters. The Jets got smoked in that trade up, if they don't hit on their qb pick it's going to kill them for awhile.
  3. There is a significant difference between 2 and 4 on the trade up values. I know they vary, and there was a 700 point discrepancy in the Jets trade up (Jets overpaying), but I believe the deal is not with the Giants but with Cleveland at #4. The chart says we can get to the Browns #4 spot with our pair of first round picks. I would think the draft would then go Cleveland QB (allen or darnold), Barkley to Giants, Mayfield or Darnold to Jets and we grab Jewish Lightning at #4. This way we don't give up ANY second or third round picks and still get a top qb prospect. There isn't such a clear cut KNOWN difference between the top QB guys that is worth dumping both of our second rounders as well. That's two likely starters (possibly more) we'd be giving up just to get in front of the Jets. Gettleman and Beane are friends, but I think that's meaningless. This is business, and the Browns #4 spot makes much more sense in every scenario from Beane's perspective. We aren't a team that's close and only needs a position or two to win a championship. We need these second round picks badly and it's likely whoever we take at 2 is still there at 4 anyway.
  4. That's what killed Tyrod last season. We dumped Goody and Watkins and left one of the best longball throwers in the league with a dink dunk Dennison playbook. Not a huge surprise that we scored 3 points on Jax in the playoffs and the Steelers scored over 40.
  5. Unless he does a major turnaround, the dude is not worth more than a few mil per year. I followed him closely because of Fantasy, thought he would light it up with better qb play and playing opposite legit receiving threats, but he didn't, and it wasn't all due to physical injury. Reportedly not a great worker, Cousins lost confidence in him, had some drops, struggled with separation. Hopefully Seahawks sign him because, well, I hate Pete Carrol and anything that frustrates him brings me joy
  6. Shady stays. It turns out the guy isn't a selfish head case at all, but an awesome teammate and locker room guy, as well as a great player. Philly, NJ and NY fans really seem to hate their own players, even the good ones. So thanks for that. I'd like to see Barkley go to the Browns so I can root for the guy.
  7. i'm sure they called about the #4 pick as well. We certainly don't need to be #1 here, it's not like there's a clear cut choice at that spot anyway.
  8. This is still over a month away, and the draft order is still very much unknown because of the trading, so it's just a wild guess at this point. How each team evaluates players is still unknown, there is no clear cut #1 this year. I'd be surprised if the Jets gave away that much to trade up for Mayfield, but maybe they did. The one certainty is how incredibly powerful a losing season or two can be towards helping the future of your team. If the Giants traded with us, they'd have SIX picks in the top 66. That's averaging one every 11 picks for the first two rounds. Talk about a massive shot in the arm for a team, adding that many likely starters all under cheap contracts for at least four years (five for some) is pretty savvy managing. Even our little one game tank against the Jets two years ago when we started Cardale in a meaningless last game of the year slid us up four draft spots to the 10th spot and got us KC's pick this year. The Chiefs weren't waiting until 14 to get Mahomes. Without that loss that nobody remembers, we aren't remotely close to sniffing a trade up with the Giants right now. My last point on QB drafting: If you pick a qb and he pans out, you have your key guy for a decade or more. You aren't letting him go. If you pick any other position it's very likely the dude is gone after 5 years to injury or free agency. To never have to waste a high pick on a qb until the year 2030 (and be a playoff team in the meantime) sounds really nice to me.
  9. They didn't want another team sliding in there on draft day. We still get to #2 anyway.
  10. as a GM? awful. Poor trades and drafting. Chandler Jones trade cost them the superbowl. He was the best pass rusher in the NFL this year and they lost because Foles had all day back there, they had zero pressure. Bill was signing guys off the street to try and fill in the holes on their defense.
  11. Dude there is zero chance we aren't moving up for a franchise qb. You get one shot every ten years to get a top guy without giving away future 1st rounders and tons of other things. Beane and McD are fired in three years max if they don't produce, and the only way to do that is-- well everybody knows what that is. Vea is a monster for sure, and the combine confirmed it. The next Ngata, would love to have him, we just won't be picking in that middle range where he'll go. Funny I saw a mock that had him dropping to us and us passing on him with both picks, he went like 24 or 25. It happened with Wilfork, he was ranked top 10 overall picks and dropped to the Pats at 21.
  12. they're opposites Preston never missed an NFL game in 4 years, London Fletcher is the only LB I've ever heard of with a streak like that. Gaines hurt frequently but exceptional talent when healthy Preston never hurt but has significantly less range than most LB's.
  13. Remember it's McCarron, more cap savings AND the first pick in the 3rd round which we really need. To be honest, most of the throws I've watched from McCarron has been AJ Green making him look good. But he's got some talent and he's 4 year seasoned so I'd make that trade every time. As much as I loved TT, the 3 point playoff game was a joke.
  14. Plus he loves the Brisket on Weck, and didn't blink an eye at the combine when Sal asked him if he'd change his name to Rosenowski the Magnificent He'd fit better in Cheektowaga, also a known Rosen hangout
  15. yes and if u hit on the qb you have him for a dozen years, most other positions you get your guy for his rookie deal and some other team overpays him in free agency 4 or 5 years later. if you get a franchise qb you dont let him go. Also a significantly longer career average for qb's than any other position. Twice the average.
  16. yes but to next year when the huge dead money hits are gone and we're $90m under
  17. trust me Beane is a way better GM than Belicheat. We took McCarron because he was a good value, has some experience and will add to the qb competition. What the Pats think about AJ is meaningless.
  18. He had Bob Anderson the foot whisperer operate on it. Dude is a miracle worker, Cordy's fine. The whole thing about the trade NOT voiding makes no sense to me. If the dude can't play then Cinci is going to ask for his equivalent in draft picks, which in this case was a starting LT. How are we supposed to compensate for that? 2nd round pick?
  19. yes looking at it now, we get to draft a guy who will be here for at least 4 years at a reasonable salary and will likely be a starter considering its 2nd round.
  20. im not so sure it was the right thing. We finally had our first playoff game and only needed 11 points Total to win, and our elite receiver who had developed great chemistry with Tyrod was gone to LA for a guy who played half the season on defense. Maybe we get a great player with the Rams pick, and maybe we don't, but either way the fact is we missed having a game changing WR this season, and it very well may have cost us a playoff win.
  21. which basically means we're goin with the Gun Slingin Jew. I'll take it. Wish the draft was tomorrow
  22. yes and we could have stayed put last year, picked mahomes and retained sammy and woods. But this is our year to draft, then fill in the holes with free agents next year with our $90m cap room, make a run for the ring in 19'
  23. everyone's opinion as to his skills are hilarious. the guy who knows him best in all the world and happens to be an excellent football mind said I want this guy on my team, he can help us win. next topic.....
