  1. would be the 1st qb to make it in the big leagues in a dozen years who had a sub 60% completion percentage.
  2. Yup. Interesting draft in the sense that there is no clear cut #1 or even a clear top 5 for that matter. It's an interesting time to be a Browns fan, I sure wish the Texans had traded up with us instead of KC, we'd be sitting with #4 and #21 and the perfect draft to get our QB and DT.
  3. So the stupid draft is still two freaking months away and then another two YEARS minimum until we really know who the right qb's are to draft. My time machine progress is still slow (hint: it's not 1.21 Jigawatts, I already tried) you guys will know when I get this thing to work because we'll draft 7 pro bowlers every year. But seriously, there are some years (like the EJ/Geno Smith year) where the entire nation can't produce ONE single decent NFL qb, and then there are years like this which has potential to put three or more future franchise guys into the league. The odds are probably a few of these dudes flame out completely, a few of them become like Carr or Tannehill decent players, and maybe one or two become stars. I'm scared of too short and not accurate enough--the two things that coaching can't fix. And as much as I love Tyrod's magic feet, I want a pocket guy not a scrambler. Can't we just roll the dice on Teddy Bridge's knee and stay put with two studs at 21/22? He's years ahead of any rookie between the ears, he can sling it, he's 6'3 with a lifetime qb rating in the high 80's. 65% completion rate. Get the kid a knee brace and let's get him in camp baby! We learned from Thurman that knees can heal just fine.
  4. Any player from Alabama, including the big fella. It's a great team defense, but Bama is starting an NFL trend where they have tons of guys drafted but seem to have a lot of disappointments on defense anyway.
  5. The Jax game really said it all for me. I know Benjamin was an idiot for pushing off and backing us up on 1st n goal at the 1, and Clay dropped an easy throw etc. But we know Jax pass defense was overrated (niners and Steelers shredded them for over 40 points late season) and we could only muster 3 points. Throw all the stats in the world at me, I don't care, three points and 134 yards passing is ridiculous. It wasn't like we had no run game or were playing from behind. You can't excuse that.
  6. even when we had Winfield and Clements, I'd still put our d-backs in the category of the best we've ever had Poyer Hyde TreD and Vontae All top notch players. Nice job Beaner.
  7. Groy did well at center, he was retained for that reason. On the other hand, we simply have too many holes in our front 7 that need addressing I just can't imagine not hammering two young first round defensive starters if we stayed put.
  8. The second I see a mock with Bills taking a center I ignore the rest of the guy's picks. We have a solid guy in Groy and a hundred other holes to fill. Mayock was head and shoulders better than anyone in terms of his mock accuracy last year.
  9. Hey as long as the stupid GM's stop calling these poor kids right when they're being drafted and keeping them on the telephone so they miss the best moment of their lives I'll be happy. It's such a Roger Goodell type of thing to do, shows you're out of touch with reality and that the GM or Coach who calls the kid cares more about themselves than anyone else. I'd turn my phone off and hang out in a local bar with my friends and family. You'll have plenty of time to speak with your new coach afterwards.
  10. If he caught that Peterman pass that hit him right square on this stone hands, that whole game might have gone differently. Still mad about that, I'm holding a grudge.
  11. Interesting. Man a free agent qb just makes your team better in a lot of ways when you otherwise have to give up 2 first rounders. There is no way a trade up will involve us giving up our first four picks. Not even close to any trade chart I have seen, unless we wanted first overall which we don't. Also, people that know the team know how well Groy played at center (except for his first game) And how much need we have at DT and LB. No way do we take a center, I don't care how good he is. Too many holes much bigger. Beane is going to leverage his relationship with Gettleman and do a two step trade up to nail our qb. But we'll still have our 2nd round picks when the dust settles, and a shiny new qb.
  12. Mayock is your boy. Forget Kiper he's a trainwreck. 2016 Mock Drafter Points Mike Mayock 126 Walter Football 81 Draftsite.com 76 Rob Rang 64 Chris Burke 62 Mel Kiper/Todd McShay 60 Sporting News 55 Dan Brugler 52 The clear champion from 2016 was Mike Mayock, who pulled a Usain Bolt on the rest of the mock drafters and totally ran away from the field. He racked up more than 50% more points than his next closest competitor, which, to my surprise, was Walter Football. Mayock was correct on eight of the first 12 picks, which was almost twice as many as Kiper and McShay had in their entire first round mock. Here's a link to Mayocks latest. The best anyone can do right now is rank positional players, we still have free agency and draft day moves based on need obviously disrupt everything. This is interesting though: https://www.sbnation.com/2018/2/15/17016560/mike-mayock-positional-rankings-2018-nfl-draft-sam-darnold-josh-allen-josh-rosen .
  13. I agree totally. There are hundreds of OC's out there, and maybe a few future solid NFL qb's coming out of college. Consider us lucky to have made the playoffs and yet still have enough draft capital to move up enough to grab a top qb prospect without giving away any picks next year.
  14. I think if Deshaun didn't light it up last year, guys like Rudolph aren't getting picked until 3rd round. Same might be said for what Zeke and Fournette did for their teams, and how a RB might actually go #1 now. Funny how recent rookie performances can help guys rise and fall on the boards...
  15. Beane said the charts mean a great deal to him. There are different ones but they use them as a starting point. He said especially on draft day there can be a dozen teams making offers to you for spot and that's a way you can set standards for offers to save time while you're on the clock. But you're partially right in the sense that trading up to get Andrew Luck at #1 would have cost a lot more than trading up to get Myles Garrett at #1 last year. Kiper says for the top few picks there is no standard because it varies w how special the top handful of guys are. I just hope we swing for the home run and go get the guy we want at qb. Whoever the scouts believe it is....
  16. Yeah, sadly this is true. I just don't think accuracy improves much after you've thrown 20,000 balls in your college career. Maybe anticipation and footwork helps a little, but accuracy is either in your dna or it isn't. Deshaun's success is making everybody rethink these athletic Tyrod types, but I just see another Teddy Bridge or Geno Smith in Jackson. .
  17. Cousins numbers and situation are very similar to Brees' last few years in San Diego. 3500 yard range, 25 td, a dozen picks. QbR in the 90's range. Good competitor with big upside in the right system.
  18. Not sure which draft value chart you're using but the Jimmy Johnson one says we wouldnt need to give up nearly as much as you proposed to get into 3rd spot. His chart is just a guideline though, it could be off considerably.
  19. Thank you. Spending big is only a bad idea if you miss on other game changing players you'd have signed otherwise. Plus subtract Tyrods cap hit from Cousins and its a no brainer. Plus he gives you back at least 1 first round pick that you'd be burning on a rookie qb to use elsewhere to help the team. So by signing him you get TWO players, one of which is a proven qb
  20. The worst part for the niners is yet to come when they realize they just sold the farm for Garrapollo and he's the next Matt Cassel. Its one thing to miss on a draft pick, but they just doomed their franchise with that contract. Aside from the Jax game, he really was mediocre at best. And we all know the Jags D was overrated, gave up 42 to the Steelers and couldnt hold a three score lead against Pats without Gronk. Jimmy barely beat the lowly bears, eeking out 15 points and throwing a few picks that game too if I remember. Foster is the least of their worries, I'm tellin ya.....
  21. Yeah i agree. He's one of those dudes that is always plagued with something. Like Sammy, and uh....Kelvin Benjamin (sigh)
  22. We can also flip a coin and get tails 10 times in a row, but it's not likely. Beane and McD know they are gone in a few years if they don't keep this team improving. Can't be done without the QB. They won't stay put because the odds are too much higher with the first few qb's than the 5th or 6th guy. If it was your career, wouldn't you want the best odds?
  23. I wonder if Gronk is going to file a harassment claim for the eagles fans who broke into his house and stole his full library of books: Reading for Dummies Flagrant Intentional Cheapshots for Dummies How to act like a neanderthal for Dummies How to be stoopid for Dummies
  24. Rob Johnson 2.0 The dude beat the Rams backups (still threw a few picks anyway), barely beat the lowly Bears, and looked mediocre against the sucky Texans. The Jags game is where the kid looked good, but as we saw in Pittsburgh when they gave up 42 points, the Jags defense played pretty poorly late in the season . I am amazed at this deal, but it's another team ahead of us in the draft that doesn't need a qb so I'm cool with it.
  25. Probably the worst part of the Dareus pick is the incredible talent in that draft. Cam, Von, A. J Green, Patrick Peterson, Julio, JJ Watt, Richard Sherman, Tyron Smith, Aldon Quinn, Justin Houston, Mo Wilkerson, Mike Pouncey etc. I think every one of those guys is still with their original team and elite. And we got stuck with the one kid who just never grew up. Sucks.
