  1. Dumping big 99's salary was a smart move, obviously the 5th round pick we received is meaningless in the big picture. We dodged a $54 million cap hit for an inconsistent player. Can we go back to that draft and take AJ green or patrick peterson now?
  2. I strongly agree with this. Need a younger OC who understands how to do what they did with guys like Goff and Alex Smith this year: install an offense similar to what worked for these qb's in college. Look at McVay's approach with the Rams. He worked wonders in Washington with Cousins. With McVay calling the plays, Cousins threw for 4,166 and 4,917 yards in 2015 and 2016. Washington ran a steady diet of play-action passes off its zone run game. This gives easy reads for the quarterback and opportunities for big-chunk plays. It builds confidence in a young quarterback and it moves the freaking chains. Rico has called a few decent games but he uses far too little play action for a team with a great rb and he seems slow to adjust his system to Tyrod, who also has very little audible (play changing)authority at the line, zero hard count skills, and runs a fairly predictable game week in and week out.
  3. Ive wondered that too. It's one thing to have a promising rookie get as many reps as possible, but Deonte is the better player in separation and hands. And had a helluva block on a DE yest.
  4. If balt loses AND titans/chargers both fall, can we get a 5th seed with a Miami win?
  5. Like RG3, kap, flutie, etc. Like I said, coming out strong doesnt mean you're the real deal. Unless your defense is poor and you're trying to win a superbowl with a weak pass rush and the guy you gave up is leading the NFL in sacks, hurries and qb hits. Yeah it was a bad trade, so was Seymour.
  6. I like this way of thinking. People want to focus on what happened recently but Cinci and Carolina are both glaring losses that we should have won. I blame McD and Frasier for putting single coverage on AJ Green out wide with NO safety help in the 1st quarter. Dalton sees it immediately, and its a simple pitch and catch for 70 yards and an easy TD that ultimately was the difference in the game. What the hell were they thinking? Green is a hall of famer in his prime, their only weapon and its like we forgot all about it. Carolina too, just an anemic offense although Zay should have continued his route into the endzone when he saw the safety wasn't going to make it over in time. Rookie mistake but cost us the game. Just a couple plays from being 10-5 and playoff locked.
  7. Jimmy G is completely unproven. Lets see how he does when NFL defenses get some decent film on the guy, I'll tell you right now the odds are strongly in favor of him being no better than average if he's lucky. P.s. belichicks trades usually suck, look at seymour and more recently chandler jones.
  8. Get over yourself. Pegulas are bad owners now? Like you would have any clue what makes a good owner. The packers do fine with no owner, the seahawks do fine with a software developer as an owner, the list goes on. "In five years when the Bills are still floundering...." give me a break. Khan's first five years as Jags owner his team was awful, averaging about 3 wins a year. But you imply Pegula is no good after winning more in 2 years than Khan did his first 5. Just go away....
  9. you should see the expression on my friend Dean's face when he hears about this stupid nonsense. He is paralyzed from a swimming pool accident and struggles everyday raising his daughter, and there are some people out there intentionally putting themselves at serious risk for a few idiot laughs. Colts game we were next to a guy that jumped on a lit grill from the top of his minivan. You can imagine how happy the Hammer was about that......
  10. Every team game plans against Gronk and they all say the same thing: Hit him hard, jam at the line, disrupt timing, frustrate him. We did all those things a few weeks ago and he still is really hard to cover. I think the best receiving TE of all time. Hands, deceptive speed, pushes off defenders and knows how to get away with it most of the time. He's become a full fledged Bob Kraftee now: Whiny, entitled and always trying to get away with everything possible. He and Brady implied that HE was the victim on the TreD crap. No class anymore from the Gronk. Sad.
  11. I was referring to Pats, but the Steelers had a few 5 and 6 win seasons when I was in college. They'll be back there again when Ben goes down and so will the Pats.
  12. We saved a $54 mil cap hit with that trade. It was never about getting the pick it was about unloading an underacheiving, overpaid player in order to improve our ability to retain our good guys and acquire free agents. $54 million worth of chips back on the table can really help a team.
  13. I'm still mad at Pete Carroll for handing the Pats a superbowl a few years back. His OC Bevell called the interception play, but ultimately the HC approves every call, and his failure to simply pound Lynch in there against a reeling defense gave the championship away. The lesson there is don't get cute and tricky unless it's a last resort. This year sneaky Pete pulled another stupid call that very likely cost them the game against the Falcons in a divisional matchup that now appears it would have had them in the middle of the playoff hunt. They're now a full game back from Atlanta and probably won't be in the post season. Most of you guys probably saw the play, it was in primetime at the end of the 1st half. Seattle up 21-20 with time running out, on the Falcons 18 yard line. Instead of knocking the chip shot kick through, Pete decides to call a fake field goal. Its a jet sweep sort of play but the runner is a backup TE and he gets nailed. Half over, and that failure to convert was the ultimate difference in the game. The problem wasn't so much the play itself but the decision to run it in that situation. Willson the has good speed for a tight end, but expecting him to get around the edge and outrun Atlanta's defense 20 yards to the end zone is just plain stupidity. He said something later about them thinking that at worst, Willson would run out of bounds to stop the clock, there also was a risk that he could be tackled short of the goal line and time would expire before Seattle could call a timeout. The clock went from seven seconds at the start of the play to four when it ended, and Willson never even made it out of the backfield. It was once again, getting cute and tricky and costing your team the whole season. I bring this up today because I saw some Seahawks posters online blaming the officials for costing Pittsburgh the game Sunday, and this thread turned into the Seahawks fans claiming the NFL is rigged against them and a lot of other teams like Pitt. I replied that they had the worst game coach in the NFL in sneaky Pete, and they wanted to kill me. Are we that blind as Bills fans too?
  14. Watch the AFC change drastically in the next few years. When Brady and Ben are gone all this talk about how great these franchises are will be quieted and they'll go back into the Charlie Batch type qb's. Cleveland will rise, and watching the Steelers and Pats go back to those 1-15, 2-14 seasons is going to be fun. I like the Steelers fans but I think Tomlin is an awful game coach--as bad as Pete Carroll. So, as much as I root for Pitt when Buffalo isn't involved, I think he'll be gone too when having no Big Ben really exposes Tomlin.
  15. Have to look first at finances. If we keep Tyrod does it preclude us from signing a big free agent or possibly losing someone else valuable on the team to free agency because of money? If not we would keep the guy, he can win games and would be the ultimate backup because he's a nightmare if you havent prepared for him all week. With 7 years in the league and 40+ NFL starts with about a .500 win percentage, how much upside is left? What if we drafted all defense and had badass D that put less pressure on him for comebacks? TT has the character and work ethic to be a champion, what about giving him a new OC that lets him call the plays he wants, teach him a real hard count and when to use it, smoother play action, qb sneak training, how to quick snap and get the 12 men penalty, etc. Dennison isn't proving to be a good game caller, both his previous head coaches called plays and he doesnt seem to have the knack for it.
  16. The worst play he had this year was not continuing his route into the endzone at the end of the Carolina game when he saw the safety was late getting over. According to Donald Jones this is basic WR play, you only cut the route short if the safety bites early which he clearly didn't. Tyrod put the ball right where it was supposed to be but Zay had stopped and the ball was too high for him. We are a 9 win team right now if not for that mistake. Jones was nice about it on the radio but he implied that is something you learn in high school as a WR.
  17. Great player, if there was a reDraft I'd bet TreD would go top 12. I'm sure the Bengals wished they had taken the kid instead of Ross, he's born to play corner.
  18. Unfortunately we aren't doing great on qb pressuring this season. The Pats offense is basically Dion and Gronk at this point, both very tough dudes to cover. The early line is we're 12 point dogs for this one, seems about right. Gotta play another offensive game like yesterday, Pats defense is beatable but the large Polish tight end is a nightmare.
  19. Last two healthy seasons combined (2014 and 16) 9000 yards passing, 96+ passer rating on 71 TD's and only 29 picks. All with a mediocre supporting cast. The guy is elite and proven. I don't know what the doctors are saying about his shoulder, that's obviously a critical element here, but qb's like that come around once every 3 or 4 years. And show me a proven franchise qb who doesn't have a heavy cap hit. .
  20. Exactly. Plus, Beane cleaned house on our Dbacks and put together an impressive back 4 using only one draft pick last year, so he's proven to me he knows what he's doing in that area. We'll see the kid up close now, and get a better evaluation of his skills.
  21. Personally I feel Schobel was never a team guy, just a cocky Texan who could get to the QB. Kyle is a completely different kind of person from work ethic to leadership, loyalty and teamwork. And of course he's productive and smart on the field. The other thing I love about him is he went so late in the draft despite being a great player at LSU. at 6'1 they probably wanted someone taller and bigger. Interesting note, PFF rated him defensive player of the year in 2010 after grading every play by every player on a positive or negative scale. Classic example of a guy who does all the little things correctly, and never took a play off in his life.
  22. There is zero chance Indy will part with Luck. The guy doesn't have a career threatening injury, and he's elite when healthy. And relatively young. Luck is a Colt for life.
  23. Yeah, Cordy's had some great games for us, and locking him up with a new deal made sense to me at the time, but he needs to show some serious offseason rehab and come back strong in training camp or he's a goner. Hope we can find another Dawkins type talent in the next draft, he's going to be a pro bowler every year starting 2018 season.
  24. He's had over 600 career targets, that's solid experience for sure. A little old to run by anyone, they just need a possession guy because they realized last night Brady isn't as accurate as he used to be. He won't factor much this year, it was like the Floyd signing at the end of last year. Ho Hum
  25. I loved it, especially the fact that you could move around to any seat you wanted in the 2nd half. We had front row upper deck, normally a killer seat but after the first quarter we noticed all the empties in the lower levels and slid down to even better seats because the viz was changing from decent to sketchy pretty fast.. My kids mostly stayed put but they had great lower seats anyway. Kudos to the crowd for not hurling too many snowballs, we had a friend wearing a Colts jersey and he never took a hit. Another funny thing I havent seen mentioned here is the club seats were 99% empty. Everyone was inside watching from the warmth, which is understandable I guess but if you were dressed properly like we were, there was no other place to be than out in the madness. For those of you who stayed on the couch because the Bills don't have enough wins for your liking this year, you made a mistake.
